The Malt Shovel - Scunthorpe - Photo album

Visited yesterday for a meal and was very pleasantly surprised. Meal was outstanding. I opted for Gammon. This came with real chips and real battered chunky onion rings. (not frozen rubbish) The gammon was cooked perfectly and the peas were still green (I know it sounds daft but some places boil the
Malt shovel is a warm friendly run pub in Ashby, the amazing tasty food is incredible with a great menu they have all the time to delicious specials they put on each week. The servings are always more than you expect that I unfortunately sometime can't manage, which disappoints myself because I don'
Excellent food, served hot, fresh and speedily by efficient friendly staff. The chef came out to chat with a couple near us. He bent over backwards to accommodate them and offered to vary how he cooked menu items. The only gripe I had was that there were some locals having a drink at the bar. Not
Fantastic pub. Extremely friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff who make everyone feel welcome. Fantastic selection of real ale and craft ale and craft cider alongside the usual lagers etc on tap. The beer is always in good condition and any problems are sorted out immediately! Brilliant food men
A fabulous local pub. Excellent range of real ales and ciders which are varied regularly. Excellent food and a good list of bands and events. Great central location.
The food was great, very tasty and good size portions and the staff were great too.
Nice little pub, good was good but the bar service and atmosphere had room for improvement
Really good visit on Wednesday night, the fish was like a whale on my plate
In general this is always a great place to eat and sample the excellent range of real ales and real ciders, usually this place out-shines any other eating establishment in the area. On my last visit I opted for the fish and chips it was quite pricey at £14.95 unfortunately on this occasion it was a
Nice food. Okay prices. The lady behind the bar was friendly, very helpful and patient. The carvery smelt and looked delicious! Wish I could have tried it myself, but I had a beef joint cooking at home for dinner 😅 Next time!
Go here quite often for a"light lunch" very reasonably priced. BUT they have taken their delicious steak and ale pie off the light lunch menu.. Gutted as it was just right for a midday meal. But the good thing is you can still get it on the main menu... But proportion size is too big for me at lunch
Incredible food, just don't eat for a week before going 👌
Young Bam Bam Bigelow in the kitchen provided excellent service and kept fluttering his eyelashes at me from behind the bar x
For God sake get a grip with the ale prices.. I don't care what % the beer is the price of the beer should be on a price list above the bar for all to see not by percentage.. I've paid £3.80 for weeks for hobgoblin & some newbie (not her fault) charged me on % £4.10. But all said and done great pint
