My wife and I have been here for food twice..... on both occasions the food was excellent, the staff friendly and efficient. It's not the poshest pub in the area; it reminded us of the good old pubs from the past. We would certainly go there again and recommend this to others.
Went to poachers for Xmas eve farye meal. All had stakes (5 adults)starters and puddings . All i can say is fabulous. Everything was lovely. Thank you sue and Claire xxx

Lovely friendly staff and meals. The new owner has done a great job and we will be back again.
Went to Scarborough to visit family. We went to the poachers barn for a family meal together, I have got to say the pub is a lovely little place situated in a nice quiet area but I do have to stress the food was absolutely amazing I had hunters chicken and it was beautiful. I have recommended this place to other family members in Leeds that visit our family in Scarborough that's why I give it 5 stars *****
Keep up the good work.
Lovely family orientated pub which serves good, fresh, wholesome food. Nothing is too much trouble.
Warm and cosy.
Would recommend but watch for the Landlord.. he bites!!!!
The Poachers barn at Osgodby is our favorite bar and restaurant. The poachers is located in the village centre with easy access from all directions. The new bypass which has taken the constant traffic flow away from the area makes it all the better for a quiet drink in the beer garden or the outside tables. The Poachers offers more than just a drink, it is a traditional place, and a place you feel welcome. Richard the landlord is your host and one of the friendly faces behind the bar.
The Poachers is a family bar with menus for all tastes.
Update 1/1/10
The Poachers New year party was not to be missed, A personal welcome from the Landlord to us and our friends. Inside the early revellers had taken our favourite seats but it turned out to be a bonus on our part, the large restaurant had been turned into a buffet / disco / karaoke and we found a suitable table.
The FREE buffet was endless, every time a tray emptied another one appeared. A good selection to choose from, and both hot cold food was available.
For all you Motorhome owners who want a safe stop off for the night the Poachers allows this service. A large hard standing area at the rear is the ideal solution.
In summary, give it a try you wont be disappointed.

Can't praise this pub enough. We've visited on several occasions to have a meal and a drink when we've been in the area, and have always been made to feel very welcome. Good pub food with generous helpings and in my opinion excellent value for a reasonable amount of money. Loved the vegetarian options which I've had to date with a good choice. My husband loved the chefs signature dish and my brother is addicted to the monster fish and chips. Very child friendly and the landlord and his staff always seem eager to please. Give it a go, I'm sure you won't be disappointedthey've certainly got our custom for the foreseeable future, we'll be back soon Poachers!!
speaking as a regular, the Poachers Barn has now become the focal point of the village, especially since the Post Office and Village Shop have disappeared. Other pubs in the area cannot hold a candle to the warm and friendly atmosphere, the excellent menu and the real ale (especially the Marstons Cocker Hoop which is a delight!). Richard the Landlord has worked tirelessly to make it a success with Pool and Darts Teams, Sunday Quiz nights and one offs such as the Ghost Night. The Christmas Carol night on the village green with free mulled wine and mince pies was well attended and the New Years Eve Party saw lots of new faces. Hopefully some of these people will return in the future and help make the pub the succes it deserves.
So I left a terrible review 2 days ago and the owner/manager reached out to me so I decided to ring him and give my honest review, we had a great chat and offered myself and my family to return to the pub for a complimentary meal!
On arrival we was seated at a well set out table,
Our drinks order was taken and when we was ready our food order was then taken,
We have 3 fussy children and the lady who took our order was patient with us!
We didn't have to wait too long and the food arrived hot and looked great but better still tasted amazing! I highly recommend the ultimate southern fried chicken burger and the ultimate spicy beef burger 🍔 😋.
The lady who waited on was just a breath of fresh air this time and she apologised for our last visit, it was just a bad day at the office (we all get them).
The owners we lovely and so happy to see us come back to hopefully this time enjoy our experience at there establishment.
After our meal I went up and paid for all our drinks even though our 1st lot was offered complimentary.
As he was taking the food off the bill I still offered to pay what was on the tab as I really did enjoy our food and experience.
I was told No he was sticking to his word and all our food was on the house!
Lovely owners, it was great to see some passion from pub landlords i feel this is missing nowadays from many!
Highly recommended this place!
Never be afraid to give places a 2nd chance.
Tbh looking at the reviews I was a little apprehensive but after a nice warm welcome I found the beer, gammon, egg and chips were all spot on. You can also take dogs in
What a beautiful hidden gem we have found. Booked our table, a warm welcome greeted us, they serve roast dinner only Sunday, which is just what we required as intrepid tourists. They checked my allergies and specially catered without any fuss and a smile, my potatoes, carrots and bto, especially cooked for me minus butter. Huge portions the likes I haven't seen in a while. Kept checking all was good, kept us topped up on drinks throughout the meal. Great venue what's not yo like, recommend you book your place on Sunday, ample parking, thoroughly recommend you visit.
We visited Poachers Barn for a meal after arriving in the area for a holiday. Seemed a bit quiet for a Saturday evening, but the food was fantastic at a reasonable price. They got one order wrong but soon rectified it. Would definitely visit and dine here again when in the area.
Just had sunday lunch here. Truly enjoyed it. Excellent food really nice friendly staff spot on kept Guinness. Well done new ppl.
Wow, what a great pub, me, my partner and son stayed here for the weekend and all I can say what a great pub, the bar staff and locals are so welcoming. The food was lovely, the room was very spacious. Can't wait to come back and stay. Pity we can only give it 5 stars as it deserves more
Staff behind the bar, friendly and welcoming as always. Even thou they were busy, the wait for food was too long. I had the cowboy burger and my partner had the spicy burger, and we were not disappointed. Highly recommend, decent pub grub. 😁
What a lovely pub. Staff were extremely welcoming to my wife and I. DOGS we're WELCOME in either bar or the restaurant. The beer was very well kept, my wife said her white wine was very nice. The food was terrific value and very tasty. The locals deserve a mention too, they were all super friendly to us and our dogs.
Clean and tidy pub with plenty of parking, but, very, very quiet for customers. Good choice of drinks, food menu has a good selection to chose from with reasonable prices and was value for money. Friendly staff member when he took the order, but, only down side is he spent the whole time we was there on his mobile, did not check how the meal was and tried to thank him as leaving, but, he was too busy on his phone to notice.
The cleaner was very nice and the workers even though he had to wait bed was comfy a walk in closet clean and drinks
After leaving a little disappointed last year, we returned this weekend to give it another go and it was absolutely gorgeous! Staff were incredibly friendly, especially the lady behind the bar (long dark hair in a pony tail). The food was spot on and service was brilliant, we will certainly be back!!!
We are staying nearby. Booked a table for tonight Monday 25th. Food was excellent and so was the service Lovely pub. Will definitely be booking again
Great little overnight motorhome stop for us. Tidy large flat carpark at rear of the accommodation part of the pub. No road noise and on a bus route to Scarborough and whitby. Hosts very welcoming. Chips were fab.
Stopped here for the night to goto see Tom Grennan at the Scarborough Open air theatre. Lovely pub with friendly staff and locals. The hotel itself was just what we needed, good sized family room, comfy bed and nice clean toilet/shower room. The bus stop was practically outside the pub to jump on the 7A to Scarborough and even ran late for us to get back.
If we're up here again for a concert we will definitely be using you again, thanks.
Called in here on the way home for tea. food was lovely. Staff were very helpful and pleasant, just genuine, and what a lovely pub will definitely call back if I'm in the area again.
The Poachers was very quiet and although we only had a couple of rounds of drinks, the bottled beer was warm and we were given the wrong size glass of wine .
Little or no atmosphere but the positive was the staff who were very friendly.
Lovely clean pub. The grub was high quality and the beer spot on and staff friendly and helpful. What more do you want :)
