My partner, daughter and I decided to try somewhere new for lunch the last time we visited Scarborough. Restaurant 55 is on the Main street leading up to town from the seafront. We didn't know what to expect when we went in, as it looked a bit drab - but when my other half is hungry he needs feeding and the waiter that greeted us showed us to a table next to the window with lovely views of the seafront. It didn't take us long to decide what we wanted, fish and chips for him, half a chicken for me and an extra plate as daughter usually shares with us. We waited quite a while for our food, but it was worth the wait as it was exceptional! The chicken was moist and flavorsome, and the chips, cooked in their skins and seasoned with herbs and what looked like sea salt were devine! The fish my partner assured me between mouth fulls was wonderful also! and the waiter was more than happy to provide the extra plate for my daughter and there was more than enough food for all three of us! We were really pleased and surprised at finding Restaurant 55, the prices were reasonable, the view gorgeous and more importantly the food.. YUMMY

We were looking somewhere for lunch and came across Cafe 55. Once inside I had a look at the reviews and almost put off by the 1 star reviews but ordered food. When it arrived was pleased with my gammon and eggs, tasty and good value.

Superb food. Professional and helpful friendly staff. Had to knock a star off for the owner berating the staff for the reduced takings due to cutting tables for covid in front of paying customers. Very awkward.

Called in here whie in Scarborough. Beautiful view of the coast and the front. Nice selection on the menu not just fish. We ordered the fish though, 55 special, fish, chips, mushy peas, and bread and butter. We ordered tea seperate. We was given our b&b straight away which by the time we got our food had gone hard at the edges but brought us some fresh when we asked. The fish was beautiful flaky and crispy. But they was not fish shop chips but like home style oven steak chips? But... they was very nice. Also curry sauce was very watery. But we would go back again.

We went twice and found the staff extremely friendly, polite and helpful. First time I had fruit scone, cream, jam and earl grey tea. My partner had the hot chocolate pudding. Was very enjoyable. Breath-taking view. Second time we had the £5 Friday deal. Fish, chips, mushy peas, slice of bread and butter and a pot of tea. Slight wait as they had only just opened. But very hot tasty food. Will go again next time we are in Scarborough. I highly recommend this place.

Lovely little restaurant and dog friendly as well! The family and I decided to give it a try as we had 5 dogs with us and this place was dog friendly and we were very impressed. The staff were really friendly and served us quickly and the food was really nice. Really great atmosphere and was great value for money and the dogs loved it there too! :) Will definitely come back here.

We had a nice quiet lunch here on good Friday, which was great after the bustle of the beachfront. The specials were still on, despite it being a bank holiday, which was a pleasant suprise. We got the 55 special and a kids meal. The food arrived promptly and was a nice portion size for lunch, the staff were lovely and the view was good.

Beautiful fish and chips. Crisp batter and a decent size fish for a regular. Had cheesy garlic bread which came with a nice salad garnish and it wasn't oily either. Chips nice and crisp. The waitress was fine and pleasant. Fab view of the bay and new rnli building. Great value for money.

We had an early dinner here ten days ago. We were given a warm welcome, our orders were taken promptly, and our meals arrived together at our table in next to no time. The battered fish and chips, grilled fish and chips and BLT and salad were delicious and attractively presented. My fish was possibly the freshest I have ever eaten; the manager/owner explained that they buy their fish straight from the fishing boats at the Scarborough wharf. The restaurant sits a street back and above the seafront; we sat at a window table and watched all the late afternoon activity down below on the beach as we ate. It was a really lovely way to finish an enjoyable day at Scarborough, and all for less than we have paid for sandwiches in some other places in the UK.

Lovely family friendly cafe with same great dishes. I had the seafood Chowder which was sooo creamy and had plenty of fish. My partner had there fish and chips. We went in a second day and he had the fish cakes that were fantastic.

Came here for lunch.... very well organised, friendly staff and lovely view from the table. Had the mussels for lunch which were some of the best I'd had in a long time, perfectly cooked. The lobster pot was also really good and the other half had a crispy chicken and bacon sandwich which he thought was delicious. Would definately eat here again.

We had jacket potatoes one with large king prawns and the other with chilli and cheese. Both were good and came with a side salad. Overall good value for the price although my latte coffee was fairly small. If you get my a window seat you can enjoy a view over the Scarborough bay.
