Went to cafe fish 23rd may for the best local fish and shellfish..the owner did a meet and greet and recommended hot oysters and by products such as chowder and fish cakes... he's a great character..but I found it off-putting..the hot oysters for me were yuk..considering they were from Lindisfarne and were there the best oysters I've ever tasted.. forget Breton.. France..whistable..on offer was the freshest tastiest seafood at very reasonable prices..and the owner was pushing chowder and fishcakes????..where's his passion!!!...i had half of lobster £15.00..beautiful fresh sweet gorgeous lobster..then 9 lindisfarne oysters for £14.00...big fat juicy cold tasty oysters.. absolutely delicious taste of the sea..highly recommend the seafood..the best seafood restaurant for miles...English wine on offer..never seen that before.. absolutely gorgeous.. recommended by the owner...push the local seafood ...it is unbelievably fantastic...a gorgeous fabulous seafood experience..rare and precious..enjoy.. because what the owner offers is unbelievably fantastic..he is rare and precious..four of us had a wonderful evening we will not forget..thank you..

This is a gem of a restaurant. The food is fabulous and the proprietor takes all the orders, giving suggestions if you're not sure what to try. We went 'off-menu' because there was so much we wanted to try and it was all beautifully cooked. The staff were excellent and we had a lovely evening. I would thoroughly recommend this place if you love seafood - it's one of the best places we've eaten at (and we've eaten out a lot!!)

On arrival without reservation. Front of house were on top form without hesitation greeted us with pure perfection telling us that no tables were available and that if we returned in 30mins we'd have a table. We popped across the road for a drink and back on arrival on in an insane were seated with menus/wine list. Made clear to stay seated and for them to deliver the most easy layed back chatty waiting Service. And on guessing we're greeted with the owner a big very comforting gentleman who instantly spoke to my 5 year old daughter first explaining her menu before the rest of us witch I found very sweet. Then explaine what choices were available to us with lots of information from how cooked to where and what hour the Fist catch landed. Right the food WOW!! Bang on with everything the prawns were a tad over cooked for me but the flavour was 100%. The Chowder was out of this world best thing to ever bless my teast buds 👌🏻 Price was very fair for the pure quality you deliver In a whole if I lived in Scarborough I'd be a local thank you for a lovely evening dining with my loved ones I'll dine with you ever time I visit for sure All the best to staff what a wonderful evening

We went to cafe fish today whist on a day trip to Scarborough. I really wanted seafood so we chose to go here. The food was delicious and the staff were wonderful. I had the chowder and the fish pie. It was the best I've ever tasted. I would highly recommend and we will definitely be back.

This cafe was recommended by a friend and we were very impressed . Despite having no reservations and a busy evening, they managed to fit us in quite efficiently. The charismatic owner, William sure knows his fish! We wanted the catch of the day and he talked us through each one and at our request, made recommendations. Well, both dishes were to die for! Very generous fish portions, lightly seasoned, perfectly cooked and really really tasty. You could taste the freshness and flavour of the fish. The ambience was welcoming, warm and relaxed. The team of staff worked seamlessly and man....it was definitely service with a smile and a laugh! If you love seafood cooked to perfection, then this is the place to go. Can't wait for our next visit. Highly recommend it. Rafiat and Debo.

It was out anniversary and I had asked a few days ago for lobster. Will the owner told me not a problem. When we arrived Will chose our menu which was fantastic. He did not overcharge us for the 4 courses in fact he gave us a good discount. The staff were friendly and attentive. Great food feat restaurant and first class service.

Absolutely phenomenal fish and chips. The fish was tender and had a lovely light batter. The chips were crispy on the outside and soft and steamy within. The tartar sauce tasted homemade. We were lucky enough to be able to get our food to go as we were on duty with work, but the restaurant looks lovely and worth a sit down. The service was great and we felt very welcome. It's in a nice quiet area of town. Thanks very much and we hope to return in the future.

Ordered the sea bass and scallops, easily one of the top fish restaurants on my list. Scallops were juicy and tender, well seasoned. What made the dish exceptional was the exquisite orange scallop rum sauce on the side which added an extra touch of umami and sweet. Pre meal bread was served fresh out of the oven, nice and toasty. Great service and staff.

Lovely set-up, fresh seafood with a good variety. Had the 2-course meal deal with a glass of house white wine for 27 pound, very delicious. The served bread with garlic butter was also tasty. Nice and quick service.

Found this restaurant within walking distance of my hotel. What a find - hostess/server was fabulous! Enjoyed a relaxing meal - salmon was delicious and the sticky toffee pudding and custard was scrumptious!! Check it out if you are in Scarborough England.

If you love seafood, go here! Yes, it's pricier but my goodness it is worth it! Went for my birthday, and the place was very quiet which was a shame. The lady waitressing was lovely and we didn't order from the set menus. I can't begin to explain how amazing everything was that I ate! Especially the scallops... they were to die for. Just do it! Seriously, don't think just go and eat there!

Reasonable price with good quality of food. Service is lovely and the restaurant also provide ice water and bread. Nevertheless, no service charge is on the bill. If you go there during weekday, the best buy would be set menu which comes with one starter (seafood chowder soup, deep fried cod ball, deep fried Thai fish cake and salad), main (I picked half lobster) and one glass of house wine or beer for £27. Good deal indeed!

We love Café Fish and eat there at least once every time we are in Scarborough. We've been back since the founder sadly passed away and it was as good. Just been again. We will go back, but not with the same desire as in the past. Quite a few menu items unavailable. The food was still very good, but something isn't as before. My main was pre-pared and from the freezer - at least that's how it felt. Menu is good, but not changed in years. Not a problem, as if available, it is very nice. I would offer seasonal veg, freshly cooked. Same little tureen of same veg, every time. Again, desserts nice but choice not changed in years. Service - good, but not excellent as before. Starters and desserts in sundae dishes really should be served on a small plate or saucer. Clearing plates shouldn't be piled up on the table in a top class restaurant. The dining room was chilly. Some things not available, mains, drinks etc. Whisky served in a brandy glass. Don't get me wrong, we'll go back. I love Café Fish, but it's dropped a league. Excellent to good. Get these bits polished and you'll be back up there.

Made to feel welcome from the moment we walked in, sat in the bar to warm up on arrival we got to ask menu questions and received a wealth of description in regards to the offers available that evening. Delicious food! We had a starter of chowder platter - fabulous And Yorkshire Brie- also fabulous. The Fish of the day was a gorgeous beer-soaked haddock with king prawns and mussels served with Thermidor and salad and the 1/2 Thermidor lobster was divine. All dishes beautifully presented and the bread/butter & garlic butter on arrival was a lovely touch. Absolutely recommend!
