A beautiful old pub with lots of charm and character. Lovely big garden and rooms to stay over. The food is wonderful and the staff will make your visit memorable. One of my favourite places to eat and recommend.
Service - warm, friendly and efficient. Excellent wide range of food choices from baguettes to jacket potatoes to standard pub grub to gourmet local meat and fish dishes. Local ales and fine wines. Eat in either a charmingly hopp-festooned bar, private restaurant rooms or my favourite, the beautiful sunny & sheltered flower garden, surrounded by dahlias, begonias etc, colour all year round. Live locally, go regularly and it never fails to disappoint.
Love it... Best steaks! Never disappointed. Lovely staff! Really can't rate it enough :)
Very friendly staff who you can have a laugh and a joke with, the food is delicious and plentyful. A must have is the skate which is to die for.
After having a quiet drink in the beer garden we decided to have a meal and what a great decision that was.
The food was really nice and inside a lovely traditional bar area.
My wife has still bot stopped talking about her desert!!!
All the staff we saw were very helpful, friendly and made the visit worthwhile.
Both myself and wife are looking forward to another meal here in the future.
Great evening, used venue room upstairs for a hen do, apologies to all that heard our dreadful singing! Buffet was lovely, room very spacious and airy...simply, a wonderful night..thank you Richard and team.
Heerlijk gegeten , mooie bier tuin en vriendelijke bedieningen en ook nog lokaal bieren van de tap
Been going here for 25 years. Always excellent, top food, top service. Highly recommended
Excellent Food and very friendly staff, would recommend to friends.
We come here quite a bit for lunch and we've never been disappointed. The service is always great and the food is always piping hot and delicious. We came with our friend The Captain and we had beers and wine...naturally. The Captain ordered from the specials board, he had Tomato soup and Chicken, Prawn and Avocado Salad with new potatoes. He said it was really tasty. I had Filo Prawns with a garlic mayo followed by Fish and Chips. I'd been craving Fish and Chips for ages and I'd had a few and nothing had been hiding the spot but these were perfect. The batter not too greasy, not too crispy and yet not too soggy. Perfect. My husband had smoked Salmon to start followed by Steak and Kidney pudding with Roasties and veg. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals too. Unfortunately we were all too stuffed for a pudding but even the pudding list sounded yummy. Couldn't tell you how much it cost as we were treated but the starters were around £7 each and the mains somewhere between £15-20. Well worth it.
Wow !!!!! What a wonderful afternoon at the Kings Arm . Twice we had to cancel our birthday meal due to daughter and grandchildren having Omicron. Extremely lucky to have the cosy back room to ourselves . Extremely well looked after throughout our meal nothing was to much bother. Pub was beautifully clean we could not have wished for more staff excellent . Food was excellent always is perfectly cooked with love . Everyone chose a different meal which thoroughly enjoyed . Empty plates from all the adults and grandchildren tried the best to get through their meal. Deserts is something I don’t normally have but the New York cheese cake with coulis and ice cream was not to say no to . Thank you to the Kings Arm ‘s for a fantastic time we had and gorgeous fresh cooked food .
First time we have visited since new owners have taken over . So pleased Kirsty is still employed she has worked there for 17 years and the lovely young fair haired man . A new chef has been put in place , well I must say it has been a truly wonderful experience at the Kings Arms .
Lovely warm greeting on arrival and allowed to dine in our favourite room ( the secret room ) . Nothing is to much trouble and Kirsty told us the history of the hotel and her personal experiences .
Our food was cooked to perfection no complaints whatsoever. Husband Scottish steak cooked just how he likes it and thoroughly enjoyed every mouthful. I had beef lasagne with tomatoes around the edges of dish ( superb never tasted anything like this before) and salad .
Desert apple crumble for my husband , one scoop of vanilla ice cream and one of chocolate with chocolate sauce and a flake. Lovely glass of rose’ for myself and a lager for my husband .
Definitely will be back with my family .
Highly recommended one not to miss .
A sixteenth century building that houses a very nice pub. Beer is good, staff are very nice, beer garden is lovely. Didn't try the food but the plates I saw others have looked very nice and very edible.
What lovely service and hospitality tonight.
Nothing was a problem and it was very easy and relaxed. Safe Covid measures in place at the moment without being too fussy or invasive.
Had a lovely meal with friends and we all had a unhurried meal in comfort and a thoroughly enjoyable evening.
Would recommend the fillet steak!
Book in advance to avoid disappointment!
We called for a drink at a quiet time of day. This place has dodged a refurb but that adds to its charm. Staff were friendly and helpful, prices reasonable. The menu looked pretty standard, solid traditional pub food, something that is not that easy to find in this part of the world, particularly pies. I was told this place is cosy in cooler months with a fire in the corner. It is a little off the main medieval centre but worth a visit, just near the river.
Excellent ham egg and chips, well poured Guinness and friendly staff. Nice atmosphere and diverse menu.
Have been back since, and ate the steak and ale pie, delicious. Good quality, well done.. very hospitable staff, still. Great little find..
We had the most amazing Sunday lunch here today. We were immediately welcomed by the staff, and the service we received was exemplary. Our roast dinners were beautifully presented with abundant fresh veg. The vegetarian option was delicious, a very tasty sweet potato/lentil roast with all the trimmings. Our compliments to the chef.
Lovely meal on a Saturday lunchtime, good options for vegetarians as well. Excellent service, very friendly.
Great service and lovely food. Nice to see it bounce back to its old self.
A Piece of History
This was a lovely old hotel, full of character & atmosphere.
The staff were so friendly & helpful- nothing was too much bother.
My single room was tiny, but adequate. Immaculately clean with a fantastic shower. Unfortunately, the light was very dim & my room ( no 7) overlooked the beer garden, so it was noisy- however, it was great value.
The breakfast ( I opted for a vegetarian cooked breakfast) was delicious and the breakfast room was amazing!
Excellent tasty vegetarian option but all the food being served looked really good. Staff friendly, helpful and welcoming and made sure you were satisfied with the food. Delicious food and fairly priced.
Nice pub, great pint of Harvey's best, and a great monthly jazz club upstairs. The grub was OK. Staff were excellent.
Nice pub with restaurant. Limited menu, but food and service was really good.
Had a quiet drink in the pub garden. Probably the most stunning gardens have seen all year, it was an absolute pleasure to sit in this space.
A proper pub - superb surroundings - some parking too, the beer garden is a blaze of colour.. Great atmosphere good menu and choices & the food is excellent. It is also an hotel & having stayed there I can recommend the accommodation.
First time back after it reopened and can say the food was just as good as it's ever been. Lovely comfortable atmosphere, a perfect lunch
A favorite choice with former RAF ace, Cmdr Stanford Tuck and cousin of my wife, Liz. Apparently he was instrumental in converting what was the old Coach yard into the present day Beer Garden.
