Been visiting Sandhead since I was a nipper and stay here at the Tigh na Mara maybe 4 times a year to relax. Love this place, heaven on Earth. Food is lovely, rooms are cosy and the staff are very welcoming. The pub is the best, log fire and good atmosphere. Beach on your door step

A second visit to Tigh Na Mara certainly didnt disappoint Food was ambrosial, service was wonderful and had a good craic in the bar beforehand. Sadly the beer battered camembert and the sirloin steak ensured that there was no room for cheese Next time I certainly wont eat for 48 hours beforehand I am your biggest fan

Delicious meal on Saturday evening. Great menu and not only was the food delicious it was beautifully presented. Staff were professional & friendly and I have to say that the Gin of the week (larios rose) was a perfect recommendation. Will definitely be back Many Thanks.

Slightly disappointed when we arrived as the front of the building looks nice and traditional but the car park behind was full of trailers and other detritus, and the rear of the building ugly pebbledash with extensive flat roofs and plastic doors and windows. The rooms are modern and clean. The service was good and friendly although the England-South Africa rugby was on in the bar that evening and everyone including the bar staff were cheering on the SA team in a obvious display of anti-English hatred. The food was generally good, with a couple of exceptions. Overall not a bad stay barring the rugby, and the rooms are not expensive.

Delicious food and excellent service. Gets busy at weekends so best to book. Nice beer garden too. Thursday to Sunday you can order takeaway from Tig to go. We sat in the beer garden with a couple of drinks and had a takeaway. Highly recommend both the restaurant and takeaway.

Called in last night while passing by in our camper, had Beautiful fish and chips, chips served in a separate bowl which is why there aren't loads on my plate. Friendly and helpful staff, lovely surroundings. We will definately go back, congratulations on your award. You work hard for it

A brilliant place to eat. The food is of high quality, flavourful and well presented. A real sense of freshness. The pricing is avg but fair for what you get interms of portions. Overall a great experience. Secondly the takeaway option on site is an amazing addition.

We stayed here while driving the south west 300. It was our Tuesday night stopover. Our bedroom was on the small side but with a generous en suite and had a genuine sea view. The owners look to have invested good money in refurbishment. The bedroom was nicely decorated and the en suite as new. The bed was form but not hard and the mattress clearly quite new. The eating areas have also been redone. Evening meal was very tasty, but a new member of the waiting staff seemed still to be finding their feet. The house Shiraz was very pleasant indeed. One point down just because some of the communal areas are ready for refurbishment, but Rome wasn't jolly in a day. Oh, the towels functioned for drying, but are getting somewhat bald. On a Tuesday at least, the place was very quiet and peaceful and we had a excellent night's sleep. Can I recommend it? Yes. For a one or two night stay, our room would be fine. Another couple were staying longer and seemed very content. Other rooms may be larger, of course.

Nice restaurant albeit a bit pricey if you are a family. But food is good. Not much else going on in sandhead. But restaurant is popular with the holiday park tourists and owners. I would use it a lot more if prices were not as they are.

We booked into this Beautiful Village Hotel, in Sandhead, on the Rhins Peninsula of Dumfries and Galloway. The Atmosphere in here is so lovely, as was the Warm Service from All Members of Staff, including the Owner "Dot". My Father-in-Law fancied some Haggis, Mashed Potatoes and Peas, (which hadn't been on the Menu), but, the Chef, "Dougie Lisi", catered for his Wishes and he wasn't disappointed. My Other Half chose a Ham and Pineapple Pizza, which was so huge, he didn't think he'd finish it, (but as it was so delicious, he had no trouble in finishing it), my choice from the Menu was the Creamy Cajun Chicken Pancake with New Local Grown Potatoes and a Selection of Broccoli, French Beans, Carrots and Turnip, (Wow! Wow! Wow!!!! It was Absolutely Amazing and I am looking forward to ordering it again the next time we're in Sandhead. Would Highly Recommend this Beautiful Hotel in such a Stunningly Beautiful and Picturesque Village with Miles of Golden Sandy Beaches on its Doorstep, ideal for Tourists and Locals alike.

We try to visit here every time we come to this part of Scotland because the food is lovely. Has the Tig to Go a few times and can't fault it. The chef is lovely and friendly too. Also had a meal with friends who live in Stranraer and again staff were lovely and the food yummy. Had the beef dinner and so enjoyed it. The great part about this place is we can go with our dogs and this time they even got their own slices of beef. We left with two very happy dogs and their staff. We will be back very soon.
