What a lovely meal! We had Sunday roast and a dessert each. The food was excellent and great portion sizes too. Lots of veg, really good beef that was tender and tasty and extra gravy in a jug on the side. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Kirstyn looked after us, she was happy to give recommendations and was very efficient, pleasant and friendly. There was lots of choice for each course on the menu and a good wine list too.

We stopped by to check out the renovation and to have an early dinner. We were quickly sat by the open fire which was very atmospheric on a cold autumnal Sunday. We were served by 'Grace' who was very attentive and gave us a warm welcome.
We had the sticky sharer to begin. Everything was delicious, the chicken was mega tender and the prawns were lovely and juicy. For our mains we had the Forestiére chicken breast, yet again, beautifully balanced flavours and very tender.
Highly recommend, we'll be back
Stopped off on way to Etihad Stadium for City Game….. spent night at pub prior and was everything we were looking for and more. rooms basic but ideal for reason for visit, food (dinner and breakfast) just great quality and quality. Before we left the next day hiked the local area and lovely Cheshire countryside. Throughout our stay staff were above and beyond and we will definitely return for other City games verses staying in City Centre.
Lovely old pub, with very reasonable lunchtime menu. It's a shame that they don't have more staff, toilets were flooded!
We enjoyed a very good lunch with family and all of us were pleased with our food choices. There were eight of us and Kirsten looked after us very well.We had three children with us and all were made welcome. The recent renovation has retained the character whilst improving the fabric of the restaurant area. We will return.

The upgraded building has been very neatly done. The food although slow to arrive was delicious. Our waitress Steph M was absolutely brilliant, knew her stuff re the menu and kept us informed as to the delay. She was extremely polite and worked her area with dedication making our experience much more enjoyable. She’s a credit to your establishment. Thank you Steph. The pork belly was succulent & tasty and my friend’s chicken dish was equally enjoyed. Definitely worth a visit & we will definitely return. ⭐️
Not been for a while. Arrived mega early with the pug after we were rained off. Sat in bar area and ordered a turkey dinner. Very nice. Next time I'll ask for a bit more gravy. Nice bar lady and the menu looks good all round. Will call again.
Staff were lovely generally food was good although I did find a piece of foil from a sauce bottle in my chicken and avocado salad and thought the avocado should have been fresh not frozen same with the mango on my dessert. Shame as I liked the new refurb. Teething problems hopefully. But use better quality food please.
The trio roast was the best roast dinner I’ve had in a very long time. Every single staff member was friendly and professional, such a lovely team and great atmosphere. Fabulous food and service
Great pub, tremendous staff. Food was okay, however, my partner had a small breakfast, she had a small bowl of butter but no toast to spread it on...pretty strange, the only other negative really is that is almost 5.50 for a pint of lager.
Please don't mix my negative comments with the staff they were helpful and fantastic.

Lovely place, stunning exterior, gorgeous large but cosy and well separated interior with open fires and beams. Great service throughout from Kirsten. Great Sunday lunch. This is Vintage Inns but has the feel and appearance of a well run independent. Nice atmosphere, very popular, and rightly so! Slightly different experience when we went on a Friday recently, very busy but there seemed to only be 3 members of staff running everything. They were certainly doing their best but could have done with an extra pair of hands. We had the valentines menu which was good and a fair price.
Great food, staff were incredible. Grace was an amazing help when they ran out of an order so gave us a complimentary replacement, which was above and beyond what we expected. Definitely be here again post refurb, the whole experience was near faultless.
Visited today to see the pub after its refurb. Did not disappoint, the place looks fantastic. Rachel and Alice provided such great service. My daughter Eleanor absolutely loved the place. ♥️
