We stumbled upon this brasserie after realising that the Italian restaurant nearby, where we had booked a table, was not a place we wanted to go to, as it didn't seem inviting at all...
So we googled for a suitable alternative in the vicinity and found this brasserie, which we thought is always a good choice. And we certainly didn't regret it!
Although the restaurant was quite full, they were able to accommodate us without a reservation. Service throughout was very prompt and friendly!
Very good menu options, and with the waiter also very flexible to respond to requests for substitutes of side dishes.
Typically French brasserie atmosphere with great food and service. What more could one ask for?
Lovely staff, excellent food, nice place.
Just to clarify, this is what I call a proper napkin restaurant. But then the price is reflective as such also.
A good selection to choose from. The food was fresh, tasty and we'll cooked. It did look a bit small on arrival, but it was filling enough and I certainly didn't want more once finished, so even the portion size was perfect.
The service was friendly yet professional, helpful and attentative. They couldn't do enough. Coffee came quickly and was good.
One small gripe was that the salt and pepper grinders didn't really grind. I had big lumps of salt and big lumps of peppercorns scattered on the plate as they were too big to sit on the food. But I didn't ask for any different so I can't complain eh.
Prices may be a bit high, but they're busy, so they obviously won't be putting them down any time soon. Quality costs money, there are cheaper options a stone's throw away, but they're all paper napkin type establishments, not of the same league.
Went to this restaurant for my Christmas party. It was a great service. They were very well organised and we didn’t feel like we were rushed. I have taken photos of the main dishes. The steak was tasty. Maybe as it is a French restaurant it might be more rare than what I consider medium rare but that is being harsh.
It catered well for a large group of us (15 in total) they were quick to deliver.
I would recommend it again to family and friends
One of the best meals we had in England. Each course was better than the next. Reasonably priced. Nice atmosphere for a dinner for two. We would come back here again for sure and recommend it to friends. Filet noir was one of the best steak entrees I have ever had.
What a delight to enter a restaurant and receive a greeting from 2 or 3 people rather than see waiting staff scurrying past you and being ignored. As soon as we entered the lady preparing drinks at the bar said hello. The manager whose name I didn't get kindly seated us although we hadn't booked and the place was really busy at 6pm last Friday evening but we were looking for a fairly speedy meal before the theatre. The menu had a really interesting range of dishes. We had starters (prawn gratinee and calamari) followed by sirloin steak and monkfish. Everything was delicious. If I had one criticism I think they could put a few more chips in the pot! All the waiting staff were friendly but our waitress Desi was exceptional (lovely lady who is shortly having another baby). We enjoyed the atmosphere and whole experience so much we went back for brunch the next day and couldn't fault it. A big thank you.
It's tempting to lump Côtes in with the other mid-market dining chains but to me it's always a cut above the generic Italian places. The food is well thought out, with a good choice of dishes. There is enough variation in the menu to keep it interesting while ensuring your favourite is always there.
The food itself is a very competent take on a French bistro experience. The prices are also pretty reasonable, and there are always a few cheaper dishes, for example the classic steak frites which never disappoints. Alternatively, you can go crazy and have three courses (the French onion soup is delicious by the way) and drinks, and it's not going to bankrupt you.
The service is fast and good, and I like the atmosphere of this Salisbury branch especially - its a great building in a good location.
I had a lovely brunch here at the weekend for a get together for a close friend. The team were so friendly and accommodating. I took in a few simple decorations & cupcakes and they made it look just perfect. The food was great & service too. Lovely chilled atmosphere. Can’t wait to come back again soon! Thank you for a fabulous Sunday brunch.
What a place! Every single item was perfect, not a fault but feeling slightly high from all the amazing items in the set menu. Also service was fast, friendly and professional. No delay on the food and set menu had lots of choice and was excellent value. 4 courses plus champagne for £42.
The food is normally better, however, the young girl who served us ( Yardy? Half Taiwanese ) was truly excellent. It's unusual to see such good customer service and professional attitude to work. She said it was down to their good training. Well I was certainly impressed.
There is always a friendly yet professional non stuffy welcome here. The staff are well trained. There are linen napkins and proper service. The food is reliable, tasty, well cooked and presented. The fixed price menu is varied and good value. Give it a try and see for yourself!
