We ride a motorcycle through the countryside a lot, we stopped for Sunday lunch at The Ship Inn, the Sunday beef dinner was the best I've ever had. The beef was soft and juicy, long slow cooking did its job. A large, thick piece of meat. The best beef I've ever eaten. Delicious, we will definitely go back there when we are in the area. Thank you.
A fantastic pub tucked away in a picturesque little hamlet. The food was some of the nicest I have eaten in a pub for a long time. The confit of duck was superb as was the roasted pork chop. A friend had the sticky toffee pudding and raved about it! The service was excellent and the location beautiful with a stream running through the garden with plenty of tables and chairs outside. This is well worth going a little off the beaten track to find.
Stopped here as an intermediate location between Gosport and Bristol. We had no idea how it would be, only going by the website. We were not disappointed. The menu had a small selection of starters, mains and deserts. But each item was clearly thought out. I had the chicken tart starter served with delicate vegetables which was delicious. We chose 2 main dishes - hake and polenta. Both yummy. I had the home made orange and lemon cheesecake. Again excellent.
Service throughout was attentive and caring.
Absolutely lovely little pub nice spot aswell with a really nice beer garden next to the river. The food was amazing would recommend the mussels starter again and again also the burgers and homemade chips were easily the best I've had in a long time. Wonderful pub thank you for having us be back soon.
Stopped of for a Sunday lunchtime meal (20 Aug) and glad we did! Good service good food and friendly welcome. Surprised it was not busier. Great little beer garden and dog friendly.
Warm and welcoming atmosphere with top-notch pub food!
A fantastic and hidden little gem. A beautiful meal in an idyllic location. We will definitely be back again
Popped in for a midweek lunch. We had been before, but the pub has recently reopened with new owners who have refurbished it throughout.
Comfy bar, and nice restaurant area. The garden has been transformed, and is lovely.
Two guest ales on tap - I had the "Piston Broke" which was very well kept and served.
There is a very interesting and varied menu. I had the slow cooked shoulder of lamb on a lovely rustic roll, with loads of rosemary. (Lesser places might have called it pulled lamb). Very tasty indeed.
Others tried the Mere smoked trout and beetroot focaccia sandwich and loved it.
Altogether, lovely food, great beer , friendly service and a pleasant ambience.
Highly recommended.
Very friendly staff. The pub is in a beautiful, quiet village. The Ship has a large car park and a beautiful pub garden that has a stream at the bottom. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food was of a very good standard.
Super superior pub food. Well worth a visit, interesting seasonal menu. You will not be disappointed well a visit.. you will return. Friendly staff good selection of beers.
