Certainly not your typical Indian restaurant. Like the lunch menu best with the Thali platter, dosas and kebabs. Love the small, regularly changing menu, featuring Indian 🇮🇳 Street food. Definitely the best Indian restaurant in Salisbury.
Incredible food! Took my partner there for dinner. The manager recomended food for us, as we are not great Indian food lovers and we had a great meal!!
Cannot recommend them highly enough!! Defiantly a new favourite place to eat in salisbury!!
Pre fathers day gathering. Dad (82), me (53) and sister (46) and a very far- eastern palette. The food was gorgeous. Dad can be a fussy eater and he cleared his plate, no tray! Service a little slow for a half-full lunchtime but absolutely worth it. As we left we came a cross the chef having a ciggy outside, thanked him and his gratitude appeared genuin. We will be back.
I am loathed to wax too lyrically about the exception food at this place.... anyway the food is well thought, delicious and served freshly made. The lunch time dosa's are amazing, the evening meals some of the tastiest you will have. Not too spicy, lovely chilled beer and home made pickles. Rick Stein needs to visit, all curry houses need to be like this!
Wonderful food, wonderful staff.. highly recommend this little gem of a restaurant..meat eaters, vegetarian and vegan, all tastes covered and all delicious
Highly recommend this restaurant, excellent food, great service, at a very reasonable price. Will definately be back to experience the remainder of the dishes on the menu :-)
Visited on Sat May 26th. One of the best thalis I have eaten. Plenty of food. A must visit when in Salisbury.
Lovely staff and every dish is a delight, even if I'm not sure what I have ordered!
Excellent service, the surroundings were relaxing (we were sat outside in the courtyard) and the food was very tasty and good value. We went for lunch and had the Thali platter, which was just perfect.
I had an early meal (6pm) with my husband and daughter on Saturday. My daughter had been before, and she was very keen for us to try it.
The moment I walked in I knew it would be good - the smell of food was heavenly, and décor comfortable and unpretentious.
The flavours in each dish were varied and excellent, we spent most of our time trying one another's dishes and agreed they were all excellent.
Service too was good. Thoroughly enjoyed the meal.
Lovely staff , delicious Indian street food, good service. We had lunch, mango lassi and the Thali with chicken curry option. The rice pudding was so delicious, sweet and flavoured with cardamom. If you haven't been you must try it!
Food was absolutely incredible!! Staff were very friendly and attentive, great atmosphere!! Will recommend to everybody!!!!
Amazing food! One of the nicest place I have been, so fresh and delicious. Very positive atmosphere and friendly staff - with happy emotions we left place and came back next day with more family members to try!
We visited Cafe Diwali at lunch time. We had a variety of food including the thali, chicken tikka kebab as well as the butter chicken. All were delicious and for a very responsible price. The service was good.
Because I have a chickpea allergy, the chef cooked my food in a separate fryer! Impressive or what?! The food is amazing and the staff are lovely - thanks to everyone.
A little gem in the middle of salisbury. The atmosphere is lovely, with friendly staff and great surroundings. The food was beautiful-not your usual Indian restaurant but lots of exciting flavours and different twists. Will definitely return
As ever a fantastic lunch today. Our toddler also loves eating here. We have always found the staff very friendly and accommodating.
Yum, yum, yum! Have meant to try here since it opened. It's genuinely amazing, really fresh and tasty and a surprisingly large and pretty garden. Definitely recommend you visit.
Sarah and I had a superb meal tonight, brilliant delicious food served by happy friendly staff.
We will definitely be back and be recommending you to as many people as we can.
Having dinner here at this moment with Dale-n-David.. i.e. 23-sep-2018.
The cafe is small n cozy _ has a nice garden at rhe back to enjoy during a bright summer day.
Rashid - one of the co-owner was very nice - hospitable - and kind man.. Who is originally from Kerala near cochin.
We ordered loads of food...
Mango lassi was brilliant.
The samosa chat, fish tikka, papadam, kalamari wete good.
The grilled nuts was not that good to our tastebuds though.
In main course. I orderes the assorted kebab platter - which includes Venison - first time for me.
The quantity was just heavy that if can easily fill 2 stomachs...
We were kindly offered free drinks at the end by Rashid & I chose to drink Baileys :)
Very very tasty and well made Indian meals, authentic and complete meals. We loved it and wish that we could eat at Cafe Diwali in Salisbury regularly and we highly recommend the place. Kind, helpfull service with lots of smiles and good atmosphere.
I had the pleasure of dining at Cafe Diwali Indian restaurant yesterday, and it was an absolute delight for my taste buds. The flavors and authenticity of the dishes I tried left a lasting impression.
The Fish Curry was a standout dish. The fish was tender and perfectly cooked, and the curry sauce was a symphony of aromatic Indian spices. It struck a harmonious balance between rich and tangy, making it a memorable culinary experience.
The Gobi Manchurian was equally impressive. The cauliflower florets were crisp and coated in a flavorful sauce that struck a wonderful contrast between sweet and spicy. Each bite was a burst of delightful flavors and textures.
The restaurant's commitment to delivering authentic Indian cuisine was evident in every aspect of the meal. The ambiance was cozy and welcoming, and the service was attentive, adding to the overall dining experience.
Cafe Diwali has undoubtedly earned a spot on my list of favorite Indian restaurants, and I look forward to returning to explore more of their delicious offerings.
Thank you for sharing your recommendation, and I hope others have the opportunity to savor the flavors of Cafe Diwali as well!
I very much enjoyed my visit to Cafe Diwali. In terms of quality, the food is on a par with other decent Indian restaurants, however, the way they present it feels more authentic. I particular, I like the way many of their mains are served with a naan bread, rather than rice as standard. The menu is quite limited, but well put together, but lacks some of the classics that some people would like. They have a good selection of drinks as well.
The atmosphere is great. It was quiet when I went, but it must be even better when the place is buzzing. The staff were friendly and attentive and we didn't have to wait long for our food.
The only reason it dropped a star is the price. In my opinion it is expensive. £5 - 7 for a starter (not bad), but £17 - 19 for a main course (curry + naan), with another £4 - 5 if you want a rice. In my experience this makes it the expensive option for a curry in Salisbury. If you can swallow the cost then I would definitely recommend it.
Lovely spot! Stopped here for lunch to enjoy Indian street food bites. We shared the Thali Platter Butter Chicken and Chili Cheese Dosa with an order of Garlic Naan. All food was flavored so well with spices and authentic flavors, I didn't have to use salt & pepper like usual. Enjoyed all foods, as is, no substitutions. Our server was friendly and pleasant. Bright color interior smaller cozy type establishment.
I had a wonderful meal at Cafe Diwali yesterday. I ordered the chicken platter and hariyali chicken kebab, and both dishes were delicious. The chicken was cooked perfectly, and the flavors were amazing. The service was also excellent. My server, Ollie, was very attentive and friendly. He made sure that I had everything I needed and that I was enjoying my meal. I would highly recommend Cafe Diwali to anyone looking for a delicious and authentic Indian meal.
Really amazing place..wow food and nice service…would recommend it 100%
had the pleasure of dining at Cafe Diwali yesterday, and I was thoroughly impressed. I ordered the aubergine curry and the sweet corn pakora, and both dishes were absolutely delicious. The aubergine curry was rich and flavorful, with a perfect balance of spices. The sweet corn pakora was light and crispy, with a generous filling of sweet corn and coriander.
In addition to the excellent food, the service at Cafe Diwali was also top-notch. Our server, Sheila, was attentive and friendly, and she went out of her way to make sure we had a great dining experience. She was especially helpful in explaining the menu and recommending dishes to our taste.
Overall, I had a wonderful dining experience at Cafe Diwali. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a taste of authentic Indian cuisine.
Special mention to Sheila, the manager, for her outstanding service. She is a true asset to Cafe Diwali, and she made our dining experience even more special.
The guy who works there is so caring for the clients. We arrived when the restaurant was about to close but he made every effort to make us have dinner.
The food is excellent, I would definitely recommend dhaba murg curry.
The prices are higher than London but still affordable.
This really is great food. Not a wide range of food on the menu - which is a positive as this isn’t a typical ‘curry house’
Relaxed cafe feel but I have been twice, once for a special occasion and once because we had no food in the house- and it felt appropriate both times.
Price OK, just under £20 for pj t and a curry (pp).
I recommend giving it a try.
Very nice little restaurant, a little off the city centre but once you know, you will be going back! Parking less than 5 minutes away. Good food, varied menu, reasonable prices and friendly staff.
Absolutely delicious food, brilliant service from Albert. We were a large group with specific food needs and they were all met. The chef appeared at our table and gave us individual service. Could not fault anything. We all left very happy customers after a wonderful evening. Definitely will be back and I suggest when you are in Salisbury you give them a visit.
Absolutely delicious! One of the most authentic indians in Salisbury. Staff were extremely helpful and attentive and the food was 10/10, and the restaurant itself has a lovely warm atmosphere 100% recommend
Not the bog-standard high street curry house. Food was absolutely outstanding. Well cooked, well presented and great flavours. Proper Indian puddings. Staff really helpful and friendly. Quirky decor. Unreservedly recommend.
Great Indian in Salisbury. Nice idea of the mixed plates, though I went for a marsala dosa.
Just had the most amazing dinner here with my fiancee for our valentine's weekend. The food was extraordinary. Highly recommend this place. We will be back soon... even tho we are 1hr 45mins away. The garlic prawns, the coconut chicken thighs & the platter was to die for!
Great but limited menu really nice food though, well done and tasty.
A great find
I had a delightful meal at Cafe Diwali yesterday. The chicken biryani was flavorful, and the aloo tikki chaat was a perfect balance of spicy and tangy. What impressed me equally was the impeccable service and the brilliant atmosphere. It was a truly satisfying dining experience."
Pros:
- coped quite well with a booking of about 40 guys
- friendly service
- starters tasted great
- nice atmosphere and space
Cons:
- small portion sizes (not all tables were offered more when they quickly ran out)
- mains lacked flavour (tasted either mushy or watery)
- lacking nice touches like linen napkins, warm face towels or after dinner mints/chocolates
- relatively expensive
I would probably try this place again, with a smaller group and probably for their lunch menu, which is meant to be good apparently
