Visited tonight for mine and my husbands 1st wedding anniversary. Was treated like royalty from when we first walked in.
The food was to die for. We both had the Fillet steak which was by far the best steak we’ve had. Cooked perfectly.
The brownie for dessert was mouth-wateringly good.
Our server, Sophie, was what made the night for me. She was a joy to be around, very professional but knew when to have a laugh and a joke with us also.
I loved the personal touch of wishing us a happy anniversary on the top of our receipt.
Will definitely be back again.
Absolutely loved this resturant. Went on Friday for afternoon tea. Traditional one for me, gentleman's tea for the hubby. This was by far the best one we've had, and we've done quite a few, even top notch hotels in manchester. Our afternoon tea was served on a small wooden picnic bench and was piled with lots of yummy sandwiches/cakes, miniture burgers, chips etc. The service we received was very attentive, if I remember rightly the young lady server was called amy. She was very polite and friendly too. Thank you all at Marco pierre whites. We enjoyed it that much we've rebooked another one in a few weeks. Highly recommended.
Thank you for making my Birthday special. Orla our waitress was so attentive and lovely. All the staff were very nice and the food was delicious, steaks divine and the best cheesecake ever. Will be back.
Lovely afternoon tea. Can highly recommend both the traditional tea and gentleman’s version.
Fabulous place.....I had the gentleman's afternoon tea...three mini burgers and fries, home made scone with jam and cream....however I was defeated but brought my amazing brownie home. The staff were lovely and made a fuss of my mum for her birthday..I will definitely be back!!
5 stars say it all was there last night celebrating my daughter birthday with my family and granddaughter staff go out of there way to help can’t recommend this place enough outstanding food see you soon xx
Fabulous restaurant, the food was delicious and the desserts were to die for. The staff were very friendly and polite, nothing was too much trouble for them. Will definitely be going again.
A great surprise. Was expecting the usual burger restaurant, but it turned out to be a cut above. Great food fantastic choices of wine and beer and a reasonable price
We will be back
Fabulous and such good value lunch menu. Right around the corner from itv media city. Our Aussie server was so friendly; helpful and professional. Thanks so much x
Afternoon tea
Can’t recommend this place enough the staff and service are amazing the food was superb the Italian afternoon tea was amazing nothing was too much trouble will definitely be returning
Of all the Afternoon Teas I've had this was one of my favourites. It arrived on a picnic bench and had many different things to try on it. The sandwiches were mini rolls. In fact everything was mini and I am a big fan of things in miniature! The other savouries included a mini shepherds' pie and mini fish, chips and peas. The sweet things were mini donuts, mini scones with jam and cream, mini chocolate eclairs, mini macaroons and smoothies in shot glasses. The sweet/savoury balance is of the best I've had and having everything mini is a great idea. You can try it all before you get too full. I almost forgot to mention the varied selection of tea and friendly service.
We were up visiting from Dorset as our son is studying at Manchester.
We wanted to celebrate his birthday somewhere close to media city.
We couldn’t get a room at the holiday Inn but knew the hotel well.
Our youngest son has severe autism, therefore going out for dinner can be stressful.
We visited in the day to prepare him and spoke with James the manager.
James took an interest in our sons needs he very compassionate understanding and professional.
We arrived at the restaurant with a table with access to a power source, one of our sons comfort needs is his iPad.
Throughout the meal James could not do enough for us he even asked if William would prefer no birthday singing when we brought out the birthday cake.
The food was excellent and will be visiting again soon.
I only apologise that this review wasn’t submitted earlier.
It's a very nice hotel with some beautiful views, especially from 15 floors up 🥹 BBC and ITV studios are round the corner and Manchester United is up the road. It's a lovely area with lots of places to eat and it's very relaxing
Marco’s New York Italian – A great place bringing the best of both Italian and American food
Thank you for the hospitality that I received when visiting your Media City restaurant last Friday for a pre-theatre meal.
Food and Menu
There is a simple menu that includes all the Italian and American classics that people love to eat. The choices are limited however it does cater for a range of diners from the Meat lover to the Vegetarian.
In the Starters there is a Garlic Pizza Bread that is tasty with a great Garlic aroma. There is also American Style Nachos with Jalpenos and all the sauces to dip into. It also has Calamari, Ribs and the Chicken Crunch too.
In the Mains there is a great selection of Pizzas with good flavours. There are also additional toppings that you can add for an extra charge. There is also a decent variety of Steak, Pasta and Salad dishes for those that fancy those too. For the Burger fan there are some Beef Burgers and a Chicken one too.
There is also a wide variety of sides that are a great addition to your meal from Chips, Sweet Potato Fries to Onion Rings and Garlic Bread too.
For those with a sweet tooth then there is a selection of popular Desserts including the Warm Chocolate Brownie, Cheesecake and, Tiramisu that is creamy and indulgent to eat. If you like cold Desserts then there is Ice Cream and the Knicker Bocker Glory.
For the Starters the Garlic Pizza Bread was tasty however it was too crispy and crunchy to eat. It is usually soft and scrumptious to eat. The Calamari was pleasant to eat but could have been cooked better as it was a bit rubbery to eat. The Chicken Crunch was delicious. It was cooked nicely and the Mayonnaise dip went well with it.
For the Mains the Chicken Fillet was well cooked and it was beautifully presented. It was tasty and heart-warming to eat. The Salad and the Mayo added more flavour otherwise it would have been bland just having Chicken inside a Burger Bap. The Sweet Potato Fries were comforting to eat. They were crispy on the outside and were soft on the inside. I love how they are presented in a small pan dish. Cute.
The Onion Rings were OK but they broke apart every time I ate them. This suggests that they should have been cooked better to give them a solid texture and stop them breaking.
The Dessert was the stand out course of the dinner. The Chocolate Brownie and Ice Cream was lovely in I ts presentation. The Brownie was cooked to perfection. It was not hard to eat or runny with gooey and indulgent Chocolate. Heaven. The Ice Cream was great too as it cut through the richness of the Chocolate adding texture.
Drinks
They have a good selection of soft drinks which include all the popular ones to have. There is also a small variety of juices on offer too. However they do not serve non-alcoholic Mocktails.
Service
The service was good. Our waitress was friendly, welcoming and attentive. She gave us the time to choose our dishes. Her suggestions for food were spot on. It was good that the food came out pretty quickly and it was beautifully presented.
Lighting and Access
The lighting at this restaurant was pretty bright which allows for an enjoyable meal for most people including those with visual impairments.
Entry to this restaurant is at the Holiday Inn Hotel to which there is a small step to enter into the building. Once inside there is both stairs and lifts to get to the Mezzazine floor. This is where you will find the restaurant.
Furniture
The furniture here is brilliant. I love the big tables which are spacious. The chairs are big and are comfortable which gives a relaxed ambiance so that you can dine in style.
Parking
Parking is available at the Quayside Media City UK multi-storey car park (formerly The Lowry). If you are a Blue Badge holder then you will get 4 free hours when stamping your ticket. This takes effect from the time of arrival. Alternatively you can park at the Media City multi-storey which is closer to the venue.
For anyone looking for somewhere to eat that's a bit quieter than The Dockyard you'll like this and be pleasantly surprised at how it's not much more expensive. Every time I'm here the food looks and tastes great, the staff are friendly and I always feel welcome as its relaxed atmosphere is streets away from the boistrousness of nearby venues. Watch out for match day offers, happy hour and other decent offers.
OK for a hotel restaurant but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here. The steak was on the grissely side..
15/03.. Dinner:
Great service, wonderful food, and table service by Olivia - she was attentive, friendly and helpful.
16/03.. Breakfast - it's always wonderful when I stay at any hotel to know that kippers are available. They were good. The buffet breakfast is freshly cooked and attentively replaced. Cold meats, cereals, cheeses, fruit and pastries, and alternative milks readily on hand.
Luiza's greeting on the front desk was friendly, attentive and with a welcoming smile. The restaurant was busy (7-7.45am), but all staff, including the trainee(s) were calm, not rushing; a specific mention also for Ndeye who waited on our table attentively, collected our plates/dishes when we had finished and asked if we would like more milk. Luiza told me it was only Ndeye's 2nd day... amazing.
The service is really friendly and welcoming. The food is absolutely delicious and portion sizes are very generous.
For a restaurant attached to a holiday inn I must admit I didn't very high hopes for quality and service. However not only was I proven wrong, my views going in where completely blown out of the water. Not only was the food delicious but the service was top notch. The staff in the restaurant single handedly turned what was a poorly timed business trip into an very memorable birthday for me. I simply cannot recommend this place enough
Food was lovely, but a bit overpriced. Staff more interested in chatting to each other than dealing with customers. Waited ages for our drinks (2 bottles coke and 1 bottle of lemonade), had to ask for them again once food had been delivered
MPW is a hero of mine, White Heat is my bible.
Got given £50 of vouchers for one of his restaurants and I used them here for convenience due to distance.
First time in a MPW place in the UK and I held it to the same standard as I have learned from him as to what to look for when it comes to dining.
After making the booking online I realised I had made a mistake, I emailed to make the change the day after and got a reply within 15 minutes just after 10am on a Tuesday morning. There was absolutely no rush on the reply but was a good sign. I previously saw a negative review about communication on here so wanted to call out that this was over and above what I would expect.
On the day, we arrived very early as the traffic jam we were told was happening just outside Manchester wasn't happening. Staff were happy to seat us the moment we walked in.
Staff were amazing throughout, made us feel at home. I simply cannot fault them.
Food was great and the price was extremely fair for quality and portion size. If you doubt this, order a portion of olives and just look at the size and quality of them. I have honestly never seen olives so big, they definitely never came out a jar from Tesco and that was the cheapest thing we ordered and even that surprised me as to how good they were.
They never had a starter I wanted and I wasn't keen on the other starter menu items however I was offered a smaller portion of one of the mains to accommodate which was great and it felt like an extra touch on the Chef's and the staff's part to add to my experience.
Given my luck, it is rare for me to go anywhere without some kind of issue but with this place I genuinely cannot mark it down for anything.
It felt like popping round to a friends for a meal, but with much better cooking, which is all I am looking for in a place to eat.
It is hard to sum this up, it is a restaurant in a Holiday Inn in Manchester. You say that and it sounds less than what it is. If I said it was the Marco Pierre White Steakhouse & Grill in the Fairmont Hotel in Abu Dhabi then it sounds all fancy doesn't it? Having eaten in both, I got exactly what I wanted out of them so definitely recommend you visit here and enjoy.
