Popped into this pub for a quick drink after a lovely walk from Saddington to Gumley and back. The pub is dog friendly. You have to take your boots off which is quite right. Dogs need to enter. The welcome was very warm. The beers were very nice. Great atmosphere and lovely chats with lots of other customers. We had a really lovely time. They offer their home made pies to take away. We weren't tempted but others said how good they were. We went in January so it was very cold outside and the children's play area was empty but it had lots of different rides.
This is a really good local pub. I mainly drink here rather than eat, but I've had many good meals too over the years. Good selection of beers, excellent bar staff and they have very good taste in music too ;)
Nice pub with plenty of outdoor seating. Good selection of beers, sandwiches really hit the spot - simple but nicely done with very good chunky chips.
Brilliant service great food prices good too. If you like quality over quantity then this is the place for you. Staff really nice and the young lady who waited our table was an absolute delight.
Went for a meal early Saturday evening. The restaurant was full (we had booked in advance) but as it only seats perhaps 30 or so people it didn't feel noisy or crowded. Food was amazing - everything cooked and presented to perfection. Best meal out I've had in a long time and at an amazingly reasonable price considering the outstanding quality.
Great service on a busy day for them, which is good to see.
I came here with a group of 14 for a Sunday Roast, which you can imagine would be tough for the waiters and kitchen staff. But they handled us well!
They told us well in advance when we made our booking of the time restrictions for the table. And during our meal, they kept us informed of how long we had. I know some people could have an issue with this - but it was our fault it took so long to order, so no issues with them keeping us informed.
The pub is situated in a nice village and has ample parking around the back of the pub, with nice views as well. The seating inside was a little cramped, but not bad enough to ruin the meal.
The food was really nice and heard everyone on the table saying they enjoyed their starters and mains. Their roast portions are big - so be mindful of that if you decide to do a 3 course meal like we did.
I also appreciated that they were acomodate a request for chocolate custard with my dessert (it's been a long time since having it, and had a craving for it). They happily obliged - it's just a shame I was too stuffed to finish it.
All in all, would recommend for a Sunday roast as part of a big group - and I'm sure I'll get the same welcoming experience next time I visit in a smaller group.
An incredible Sunday lunch. We had roast beef and it was a huge portion with plenty of veg, all perfectly cooked. Superb, friendly service. Our meal came out super quick and was piping hot. Highly recommended and book ahead as it gets very busy
Some friends and I went to The Queens Head in Saddington for an evening meal. It was our first ever visit. The food was excellent, as was the service, prices were very good, and the atmosphere was friendly. The steak and ale pie was scrumptious! The premises were clean, well decorated and tidy. Toilets were clean. Lots of car park spaces off road. A very impressive restaurant, selling a good selection of beers. We'll definately be back for more!
We hired a boat and moored up by the nearby Bridge which was about a 10 minute walk up the hill. Service was excellent. Nice selection of Gins. Wonderful view in the beer garden. The food was also excellent with generous portion sizes. Would recommend..
Went for a birthday lunch. The food was lovely, hot and beautifully presented. We had three courses and thought it was good value.
