We came for lunch yesterday and the service, music and overall atmosphere was great. They were very nice and the food was well presented but still simple. The place was nicely decorated, clean etc. Their mushroom tagliatelle was creamy and very light - would recommend, but beware that it is quite a big portion, despite it not looking like it in the photo! Their calzone was also very good, served with a rich, but delicious tomato sauce Both the dishes were sprinkled with some pepper and/or cheese if you wanted it. We also had some desserts - their homemade tiramisu which melts in your mouth and is simply delicious and their homemade flour less chocolate cake which is warm, very smooth, and delicious too! Then, we had some coffees (espressos) that came with a sweet treat each.

Couldn't recommend this place more. After searching for somewhere to have lunch online, we stumbled upon here, and after reading other positive reviews, we certainly weren't disappointed. Food was amazingly fresh and tasty, venue was clean and scenic, and as for the staff - they made a terrific job singing happy birthday to my wife and also entertaining our six year old!

Great food and good service from a family run business in a very old and rustic building on the harbourside. It was very busy and obviously popular with locals as well as tourists like us h family of 4. Well priced compared to other more poncy options in Rye centre.

A group of us, including a little one, had lunch at Simply Italian a couple of months ago. We ended up at the restaurant after spending around an hour trying to find somewhere suitable for lunch, by which time we were starving. Luckily the food here was excellent and incredibly well priced. There can’t be many other Italian restaurants selling freshly made pizzas for under £10 in the current climate. The restaurant itself was a little scruffy, and there was nobody else eating indoors when we arrived, which was a little off-putting. However, once the food arrived and it started to fill up, we realised we needn’t have worried.

Very good experience, prompt, good food, house red was very drinkable. Would love to see a chicken Milanese on the menu (but understand why it might not be on the standard menu), maybe serving crodini or other non-alcoholic (but interesting) drinks might be better for non-drinkers? Overall seems like a great place with a warm welcome. (And happy with the dog, too).

We turned up at about 5pm on a Saturday after the King’s Coronation after having been turned away from several other restaurants and pubs for not having space - there were 4 adults, 3 kids and a baby. It wasn’t very full at all, though it did fill up quickly. The staff were really friendly and helpful and guy making the pizzas recommended the pizzas ☺️ We ordered a couple of cheese, tomato and ham pizzas, and chicken strips and chips for the kids - all of which went down a treat. I didn’t go for pizza in the end (though I did sneak a slice of one of the boys’ pizza - it was good!), but instead we shared the fried seafood (thumbs up) and I had the vongole which was excellent. I’d definitely recommend going for pizza or pasta if you go here. The decor inside is really lovely and the staff were really great with one of the kids who was a small ball of hanger. They got him a pizza dough stick which cheered him up no end. The baby wasn’t in the best of moods (teething) and was noisy - for me, there’s nothing more stressful than trying to settle an unsettled baby, especially when you feel like you’re impacting other diners’ experience. However, I was still made to feel welcome and I really appreciate that. I was a bit gutted we couldn’t stay for pudding (we had a bus to catch) as I’d have either had the tiramisu (can never pass up the opportunity for a homemade tiramisu) or a toffee sundae. Or both! 😃 Would definitely love to come back and try more of the dishes.
