The setting is lovely in this restaurant in the lovely town of Rye. The beef brisket was tender and the meat was good quality. I'd say they missed a trick by serving it as a whole steak-like chunk, rather than pulling / shredding the meat which brings out the flavour of the juices and the sauce. The sauce had a nice smokiness to it, and was on the sweet side. The coleslaw was creamy and I thought having it on a shell was quite a fun way to serve it, although I've seen more disapproving reviews about that. The chips were fabulous in every way, and there were a decent amount of them. It looked like the tables could have done with a quick spritz before we got there and, as I said, I feel that brisket is better shredded, so I didn't feel I could quite give 5 stars this time, but the service was friendly and quick and I bet the burgers are fabulous, so I would happily come back, and I recommend that you consider it for lunch or dinner.

Great food, especially the meat (locally sourced) Fantastic Milkshakes really liked the Nutella one. We all enjoyed ourselves. Waitresses were very polite and helpful. We sat upstairs which was quiet hence my atmosphere rating no reflection of Hoof really. We'd all definitely go again. Thanks Hoof for making our day in Rye just right *****👍

One of the best Sunday roasts ever tried. The beef was tender and juicy with an amazing gravy. The beef burger was really big and all the ingredients were super tasty. Cozy atmosphere and friendly staff.

Oct 23 Lovely setting and visit recommended when in Rye. Staff very welcoming and helpful and attentive. Food was very good quality and cooked well. Moules and frites thoroughly enjoyed.

We've been there for a quick, unpretentious lunch and had a surprise. The waitresses were very friendly and kind, finding us a table and being receptive to my toddler. The food was really good. The lamb for Sunday Roast was tender and full of flavour, good roast potatoes, and all the other garnish. Cheeseburger was also good.

Really nice, I was pleasantly surprised as I’m generally speaking not a burger fan but I was a fan of these burgers, plus the coleslaw, truffle fries and the Mac ‘n’ Cheese, all of it was fantastic

Was recommended this place, by someone that travelled from Kent, so must be good We sat upstairs, which is a little quieter, looking down on the quaint part of Rye high street. Nice feel about it. Although quieter upstairs, unlike other places I have been to, we were not forgotten by the staff, who regularly came up to see if we needed anything. Well, I always need another drink! Apparently, they use beef from their own farm, which is always nice. Home made burger, using good beef, very tasty. Great selection of burgers and steaks.

Excellent customer service by the young lady. Prompt and looked after us. The only loss was the medium-rare sirloin was overcooked slightly, and no steak knives provided. Lovely décor and it's nice that it's one of the few places still serving food at 5pm on a Sunday afternoon.

Popped in for an ad hoc lunch whilst visiting Rye. Really warm welcome and great table upstairs. I had the halloumi burger. We also had a lamb burger, kids fish and chips, and kids burger. Only marked down 1 as only 1 veggie option but it was really tasty.

Absolutely delicious, my favourite restaurant in Rye. Everyone is so friendly and dogs are welcome. My pups had a fantastic time.

Restaurant was ok, food presentation was great. Burger was way too dry, I asked it to be medium and it was over well done. Gluten free buns and many vegetarian options available. Cleanliness was not the best, menus were dirty and tables sticky.

Can’t overstate how good this place was and how much it exceeded expectations - it’s much more than just burgers. The selection of steaks from their own farm were amazing, they have a great selection of specials, and both their wine and beer list are more like a fine restaurant. Would recommend to anyone and am sure we’ll return!

Visited Wednesday evening booked a table as it can get busy. The steaks are fabulous, but the chips looked anaemic and resembled the cheapest frozen chips you can buy. Steaks are accompanied by mushroom and vine tomatoes some tender stem broccoli would have been a great addition to the dish. We followed with Eton mess, the dish was runny, lacked the thick cream the base of this simple dessert. Plus side staff were polite, helpful and chatty.
