Great stay for my hubby’s birthday. Lovely room and excellent food. Can thoroughly recommend it.
We went to Ghyll manor for dinner and an overnight stay for our anniversary. Everything about our stay was amazing, the room was gorgeous, the food was divine, the staff so friendly and made you feel at home - especially Bob he was so amazing!! I would highly recommend staying at Ghyll manor to anyone. Love it there xx

Beautiful place , breathtaking views ! The cottages are lovely your own front room and bedroom . Beds very comfy and very clean . Had lovely sleep . Food and staff lovely ! We had a couple of milky coffees which was like warm and not nice , we told the guy there he was very apologetic and offered to make fresh ones we said no it was fine . When we came to pay for few extras we had not included in our stay they had removed to coffees from our bill which we thought was nice of them . Would go back in a heart beat beautiful place !
This is a beautiful place. The rooms are stunning, and big. Walking around the grounds is lovely, it is so peaceful. The food is good. And the restaurant is really nice. The only downside to our stay was the showers - there is zero water pressure, and it just trickles from the shower head. It wouldn't put us off from coming back. Would love to see the grounds in the summer.
We visited as part of a wake after a funeral and had the afternoon in the conservatory with a selection of food.
The building was well kept and they have kept much of the original style and features. Even areas that have been updated, like the toilets, have been done in a similar style and look great.
The grounds are beautiful and a good size with a short walk around them.
The staff were friendly, attentive and didn't bother us.
Just had the wedding reception for my daughter's wedding here. The staff could not have been more helpful, the food excellent and our room (Greensleeves) absolutely superb. Everything about the day was brilliant, the staff, the hotel itself and the grounds. We were even able to sit out under cover in the pouring rain without getting wet! Following morning the breakfast was excellent though would have liked fried eggs rather than just scrambled, but was a minor niggle. Other guests said their stay was superb too, we had exclusive use for 24 hours to accommodate everyone from afar. Would thoroughly recommend Ghyll Manor and hope you have the experience we all had.
Was a little worried when i booked this a few months ago as there were a number of reviews (mostly trip adviser) that didn't paint Ghyll Manor in good light.
From our experience they couldn't be further from the truth.
The reception staff were very helpful and friendly and offered to take our bags to the room if we wanted.
The room (called Beams) was spacious and very clean and by the looks of it may have recently be redecorated. The room had its own hallway that lead to the bedroom and a bathroom with separate shower and bath. From the room you could see the grounds which looked very nice.
Can't fault the restaurant and staff as they were very helpful and the food was amazing.
All in all it was a perfect stay and will definitely stay again. The only negative (and its a small one) was that the breakfast which is a buffet style help yourself could have been hotter.
If you are venturing out of the hotel there are two pubs within 2 minutes walking distance. The Star and The Plough & Attic Rooms. From our experience i would stay clear of The Star as it lacked atmosphere and they were not friendly. The Plough was a lot nicer with open log fire, a warm welcome and very friendly
Attended a friends wedding here which was lovely. The staff were friendly and very professional. The grounds were beautiful with a lovely lake. The building itself was nice and there was plenty of parking. The room was very nice and clean with a big bathroom. The food was rather nice too.
This is a lovely little hotel and I've been here many times for weddings, family functions and other small events. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The rooms are beautiful (the main hotel is old so the rooms are very old English) the more modern rooms are a mixture of grand or typical for a hotel. Food as with service is great. Same goes for the grounds, which are absolutely beautiful. I can't really recommend this lovely hotel enough.
This place is absolutely stunning. Take a stroll around the property and definitely check out the church across the road. If you are tourist, this is the type of hotel you are looking for; a gorgeous old mansion set in a quaint little village that is within 25 minutes of Gatwick airport.
The food has been amazing, the staff have been absolutely top notch. I’m amazed that both this small village and this gorgeous hotel are not really on the radar for travelers. It needs to be. 10/10 stay for me for sure.
Booked a dinner bed and breakfast deal with a bucks fizz on arrival. Were upgraded to a room in the main house with beautuful views. Dinner was tasty..and 3 course!! The bed was big and very comfortable. The breakfast was a buffet style. My partner sad there wasn't fried eggs!. Overall a lovely stay.
We have just had the most wonderful weekend at Ghyll Manor for my sister's wedding on Friday 3rd May 2013.
From the moment we arrived then night before, the staff couldn't have been more helpful or personable and we instantly felt at home and very relaxed.
The rooms in the hotel were incredibly clean, spacious and very comfortable and after a restful night we had a fantastic breakfast & enjoyed the glorious sunshine with a walk in the beautiful grounds.
The day went without a hitch, again thanks to the fantastic team of staff who made it feel very personal and special, even though you know they do it every weekend, which is what makes them so professional.
A really memorable weekend for all the right reasons and we will definitely be staying here again. Thank you all again
Lovely place, really relaxing and rural, as you would expect for a 400 year old manor house, with 900 year old protected trees in the gardens.
All the staff I dealt week were friendly and happy, something of a rarity in my experience these days.
Food was good, served hot and well presented.
You have missed out of you haven't taken the chance to explore the gardens. Peaceful and quiet. if you bring yr own chair you could set up far away from anyone and be completely undisturbed for hours.
Will be back. :)
Lovely location, lovely building, lovely staff. The garden really needs maintenance, so many dead brown leaves in the conservatory area. Food was ok, expectations were much higher than result. Could have saved a fortune by going to a Toby carvery! But as I said staff were great so mixed bag really!
Just returned home after a 1 night Dinner, Bed and Breakfast break. This is the 3rd time we've visited Ghyll Manor and as usual we all enjoyed it thoroughly. Its a beautiful hotel, and the grounds are just lovely to wander around. There is a very relaxed ambiance, and the staff are all very friendly and attentive, and nothing seems too much trouble for them. The rooms are very individual, and nicely decorated, and we've always been very comfortable. Our evening meal was top rate, and so was the service. The small village of Rusper is very quaint and pretty with a local pub and convenience store just a few yards down the road. We will be booking to go back again soon - thanks to all the staff at Ghyll Manor for making our stay with you a very pleasurable experience.
A great experience. We stayed in the mahogany room which was really spacious and utterly beautiful. We ate in the restaurant in the evening and everything was cooked and presented to perfection. The staff were all really attentive and friendly. A great stay
