Absolutely love this place!! Prices are so much better than expected!! We tried 2 sides and an main, and the bangers and mash were so good!! Loved the gravy!! The atmosphere is very laid back and the servers were so nice and helpful! Answered all our questions with a smile. We even asked to see one of the rooms (thought of staying there sounded great) and they were happy to show us one not being used so we could see it. How nice is that! We are getting married in a year and will be recommending here for a place to stay!

Had a long lunch on holiday, The food was okay and a normal price of around £14 a meal. The staff made us feel very welcome and fitted us in a booth in the bar. Which felt comfortable and chilled. 🍺 also had a play ground out back which was nice 👍

Cannot tell you how many times we have driven past this place without stopping. We stopped today and we're not disappointed. Excellent three course lunchtime offer and excellent service. Will try to visit again when back in the area.

I came across this beautifully decorated pub on a random drive out, everything smelt great, in fact everything looked great, so I decided to have some food, when I did get the menu I was disappointed to see a very limited choice of main meals and the it seemed to be the typical pub menu, to be honest I was expecting something a little different due to the atmosphere and decorations in the pub. Also we went on a Sunday and were told that the main meal (the Sunday roast) had very limited meat options. The food itself was delicious and well made, all though I was a little sceptical, due to that it came out so quickly (10-15 mins) from the original order, as I've had experiences of microwaved food. the lasagna was delicious and was full of flavors, it was unfortunately a very shallow dish for how much it cost, the haloumi fries were decent and thick. For afters the tiramisu slice was soft fluffy and tasty. Would recommend this.

We visited again on a wintry miserable day. The restaurant was warm attributed by an inviting roaring open fire. We used the bar facility to avail the drinks and food order. The Bar man was efficient, courteous and welcoming. The food was in an acceptable time, despite arriving after ordering after a large group. We both thoroughly enjoyed the food and the value for money.

We brought my mum for lunch to celebrate her birthday. We'd never visited the pub previously so didn't understand the difference between the two booking options online of casual or restaurant dining but the team explained on arrival and found us a lovely table in the conservatory dining room. They were so friendly and helpful, which helped to make a special day out for mum. Prices very reasonable and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Never eaten there before, but suspect we will again soon. A great experience. Thank you

We stayed at the caravan and motorhome site adjacent to the pub. A nice small site with about 30 pitches with a good clean shower and toilet block which had plenty of hot water. £36 a night with electric hook up. The river Derwent runs next to the site and you can walk to a little sand bank located under the old railway viaduct. We had a meal at the pub on Saturday night. Two mains plus dessert and a couple of bottles of wine was about £95. Food was great. Our only criticism would be the gardener using a leaf blower both mornings in the pub car park/beer garden which was a little noisy. We would certainly recommend the site and will definitely use it again.

I looked on-line to book a table for Sunday evening and it said it was fully booked. Also phoned and the recording informed us, that they were fully booked for tonight. As it occurred, we tried several other places, and had to drive past here anyway. My husband popped in at 5pm just to enquire if they could squeeze us in for a table for two, a little later at 7.30pm. To he helpful girl at the desk said yes they would be able to fit us in. We came back at about 7.20pm and we're surprised to find that there were only 3 other tables in use. The whole pub was empty! We ordered our drinks and starters, Michelle, our waitress was very pleasant and informative. The prawn cocktail starters were lovely. Then my husband ordered the signature burger and myself the steak. I asked if I could have a little coleslaw as well, as it came with the burger meal, but not with steak and chips. Meals arrived, I was given a small amount of coleslaw with my meal, both meals were nice. By the time we were ready to order dessert, at 8.15pm, the whole venue was empty, which made us wonder if they deliberately put the fully booked messages on-line and on phone recording, so they could close early. Especially as they were hurriedly putting out all the breakfast items, ready for hotel guests tomorrow morning! We wondered from a business point of view if they allowed on-line bookings, would they have been full. Overall, it was a pleasant meal. Nice decor and atmosphere. Michelle, our waitress was very good.

Great service as soon as we stepped through the door . We didn’t have to wait long for our drinks or food . Michelle was very attentive to us checking we were ok and clearing away our empty drinks . We both had the steak and ale pie which was delicious and the vegetables were cooked to perfection. Puddings were lovely as well . We can’t wait to come again and bring our pooch as we found out the pub is also dog friendly.

really like it here, chilled out place, great atmosphere...relaxed,people chilling out staying at the campsite. Called for a drink and tea after a walk to peak village, a perfect afternoon relaxing. Really nice food, didn't have dessert but I had roast turkey Sunday dinner & would highly recommend, my husband had signature burger & thoroughly enjoyed it, we were too full for pudding.

We used the online booking service for tables and found it easy to use. On arrival the staff was friendly and attentive with our disabled guests. I was very impressed with them all and it helped put me at ease for the night. Service was quick and there was plenty of checks to see if everything was ok and if we needed more drinks. Food was excellent quality , presented well and felt we had good value for costs. Very reasonable wait time. Environment was clean and homely. It was nice having music on in the background and we had a lovely relaxing meal.
