It was my first visit to this pub as my daughter lives in the area.. We went for lunch on the 8-7-17 Ordered a pork baggett & my daughter had a chicken burger.. Both with side salad & chips.. I must say the food was excellent & we will certainly eat here again.. Very good value for money.. You are welcomed by very cheerful friendly staff... Yes definitely one to go back to...πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»

Cracking little pub. Not been here for years. Over 400 years old and still going strong. Proper home cooked food not your chain pub microwaved food here. Great selection of real ale. Pretty busy at 1pm on a Wednesday so get in early. Friendly staff. Great food great service.

We visit the Bell and Bear two or three times a month because of their great choice of beers, but last night we had some food there as well. I ordered the the Chicken and Bacon Salad off the specials board. Wonderful, Excellant value for money, very healthy and hearty, and obviously prepared with thought and passion ! The presentation was very creative especially the balsamic dip as the centre piece with the rest of the ingredients carefully arranged to give a nice splash of colour. I thanked the staff and apparently it was the idea of one of the younger members of staff. I think they said her name was Hannah ? Please pass on our thanks to her and we look forward to seeing "Hannah's Chicken & Bacon Salad" as regular on the menu.

Went there for the first time yesterday with family for my birthday and it won't be the last. Lovely pub with loads of real character, friendly staff and great food. Plenty of choice on the menu to suit all tastes and very good value freshly prepared food. Excellent!

The Bell n Bear grill is by far the best mixed grill I have had in years. To say I like my food is an understatement but I couldn't finish it. Best value for money around. You need to book if eating in the evening.

Large beer garden with great view of sunset. Friendly attentive staff. Great home style food, and good portions. Been back again today for lunch. We both had the steak and ale pie with chips and peas. It was excellent and the staff cannot do enough for you. Nothing is too much trouble for them. Thank you

Went here today without a booking but the staff were very helpful and seated us straight away. Drinks orders were taken immediately. Food order was taken as soon as the drinks were bought to the table. Lovely menu with lots of homemade, traditional food choices. There was also a specials board. We ordered cobs and a child's burger with sides of chips and onion rings. Portion sizes were great and the cheese on my cob was about an inch thick!! Great value for money. The pie looked amazing (will definitely be having that next time) Really cosy atmosphere with the fire on. Excellent service and I've already booked to go back on Thursday!

Visited while on a weekend break, greeted as soon as we got there, seated straight away, drinks order taken just after we sat at our table, food was amazing! Staff really helpful and friendly. Went there based on the excellent reviews so here's another! Lovely old place with a great atmosphere and really reasonable prices. Very impressed.

Booked a meal at Bell and bear 26/07/2023. I cannot recommend it enough. All the food was excellent, tasty tender and very well priced. Portions were more than ample. Still ate it all. The staff were friendly, polite and professional. A big thank you for a wonderful meal in a lovely atmosphere. Craig Walker.

Holden's pub, good selection of real ales served by friendly staff with nice food at reasonable prices. Changed hands a number of times since it was renovated as a Holt's pub, but remains a nice place to eat with a really nice outside area to sit in the sunshine.

Really good value food and large portions too. Tasty too. Menu was a bit limited when I went but this may have been due to covid times. Friendly staff with a nice old pub feel and look about the place. Serves a choice of Ales as well as ciders and Lager too. Wine as well as tour usual spirits etc. An excellent sized beer garden withbaine fantastic views too. Well worth a visit I will certainly be returning.

Very nice, quirky pub. Service was quite slow on a Saturday evening when it wasn't full and having ask for menus once we had been sat for 10 minutes. If you want wine, then stay well clear, cheap and nasty stuff. Food was amazing and top notch. I personally had the curry and the naan bread was better than some you get from a Indian takeaway. Good selection of drinks and the staff are a good laugh.
