Well done to Swarbrick family. I went with a group of five friends. Such a lovely and cosey atmosphere. The staff are so friendly . The meal was excellent, well presented and all was home made. The decor of the place is very good and clean facilities. I will recommend it to my friends.
Just popped in for a bite to eat as we were in the area. Barman made us feel welcome. Ordered our drinks and went to sit outside as it’s quite nice today. Placed our orders, 2x cheese and onion pies with chips and veg and 2x steak and ale pies with Mash and veg. Staff were great hosts and kept making sure everything was ok. The manager came out and spoke to us, we are their first customers to eat outside. Having given us plenty of time to finish, waitress came to clear our table. One of our party asked for a dessert menu. Yes I am actually writing this review whilst sat outside deciding what to have for dessert.
If you are ever this way, come and find this lovely friendly pub with fantastic food. We will return.
This is a superb eatery which we should frequent far more than we do!
Food is outstanding and the service is friendly and professional, the staff seem to have the ability to make you feel 100% welcome which I assure you is not the case in a lot of other places we have dined in!
On this occasion we skipped the starters and went straight for two mains. My steak n ale pie was beautiful with accompanying "chunky" chips and a variety of vegetables. Val had the gammon with a "crispy" egg and pineapple salsa and, having scrounged a taste, I can only say it was absolutely wonderful and is a meal I will order for myself next time. Just two notes for the management/chef though .. 1 It says crispy eggs on the menu and although a diner would normally only expect one egg we could have easily devoured another one, or two, or three (haha) as it was absolutely delicious!! and 2 The chips were the thinner ones and we thought the chunky chips would have been better. These are not complaints though because the food is wonderful!
I couldn't resist a dessert of Chocolate bread n butter pudding with custard and yet again this was delicious.
Add to the food two pints of diet coke and two large pinots and the final bill was £45.50 and worth every penny! The member of staff we paid even said "are you sure?" when I left a £5 tip but we always like to reward an enjoyable dining experience with a 10% tip!
Service is 10/10 Food is 10/10 and I would wholeheartedly recommend this place to anybody who enjoys dining out!
Thanks to all concerned
Ian and Val
Highly recommend, food excellent and the staff very friendly and knowledgeable regarding the menu

Fab place, great it’s reopened and long may it’s success last xx Would also like to add to this review - we have been in several times and went with family on the 6th January - absolutely exemplary, we had one of the group who has a severe allergy to tomato, the staff checked every ingredient for any element of tomato and then recommended dishes they could guarantee safe - no where has ever gone to this depth - very, very much appreciated and service was outstanding despite having several big groups in - well done and very impressed....thank you from all of us....
The first time we went was on the opening weekend for Sunday lunch. What can I say really lovely generous Sunday lunch all fresh great roast beef. 2nd time was mid week on a wednesday pleasantly busy good cosy atmosphere. The food was delicious once again all four of us in the party agreed. Well done Bay horse inn team.
Lovely day yesterday great pub and even better food excellent you guys
First time I have visited the Bay Horse on the 6th Jan and I must say we were very impressed, especially when it has only recently re-opened. We both chose Steak & Ale Pie and it was lovely. The staff were very friendly and we will definitely visit again.
Went for the first time since it reopened last night excellent food and the staff were even better. Warm welcome and fantastic service. Highly recommended and we will definitely be back.
Gorgeous food, lovely seating area outside and the staff are very friendly. Will certainly be visiting again
Had an amazing meal, service was great, a really great family pub xxx
We went for Christmas Day Dinner today and really enjoyed our meal. Lovely food, good quality, well-cooked, plenty of it (more than either of us could manage) with excellent, friendly service.
We'll be back for more meals - and quite probably Christmas Day next year.
(Though rather agree with others about the blue walls.)
Fantastic food, very well presented and very tasty. Lovely atmosphere and happy, friendly staff who engaged with customers. Highly recommended.
A great place to eat with the family. Decided to come here for lunch. Great availability and incredible service (under 30 minutes). Not too busy and staff were polite and kind. A warm and cozy atmosphere.
I ordered the fish and chips and, suffice to say, it was a great meal. The fish was well cooked, as were the chips. I highly recommend the proper mushy peas, they are delicious.
Bathrooms are clean too, and the hand dryers aren’t that loud.
All in all, a great place with great meals!
Went for lunch as The Bay Horse has a vegan and vegetarian menu and we wanted somewhere local to where our friend lived. The place itself is lovely and cosy with an open kitchen and modern decor and outside seating for nice weather. The chap looking after us one of the owners but didn't get his name, was really friendly and welcoming and showed us to a table next to the fire. He said the soup of the day was vegan, without me even asking which I thought was attention to detail, so we ordered two mushroom soups, two large banana blossom fish and chips and a small fish and chips for our friend. The food was excellent, the mushroom soup was full of flavour, the banana blossom fish and chips was the best I've had and I've eaten a few. The batter was light and crisp and he mentioned that they made sure it was made with vegan cider and soda water, hence how fabulous it was. We were too full for pudding, so next time I will have a small fish and chips. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will definitely return to try other dishes. Highly recommended.
We came to your village today. My dad was raised here and left in 1948. It was a very special day for us and we had a lovely lunch with you. Food was great, we had steak and chicken pie. Many greetings from Australia.
Very good service and excellent food. Couldn’t fault the place. Highly recommended if you’re in the area.
Really like this authentic Lancashirepub. Very cosy and lovely views when sitting outside. Inside is delightful and tasty traditional pub food. All in all an excellent place to eat.
This is a terrific pub serving great food that’s been prepared to a high standard.
Good value and friendly efficient staff.
Incredible home made steak and ale pie and most delicious local sausages. Would travel again to eat here again! Incredibly friendly staff too. Very relaxed atmosphere.
Fantastic food. Great service and very helpful staff.
A nice welcome on entry, and we were seated immediately.
The food is excellent. The settings and service equally so.
