Great pub food was awesome. Busy and noisy but a great atmosphere. We will be coming back soon. The barstaff and waitress were great. Friendly and informative without being over the top. Well done all
Our second lunchtime visit to this pub. very nice interior. Last time they had a great fireplace roaring. This time there was no fire and it was very cold inside. Staff were polite and efficient, but weren't "attentive" in any way, with me having to get out of my seat to get the food order taken. Main course food was excellent. Though, the lunchtime scampi was bad quality, arranged on a plate like a child's chicken nuggets. enjoyable, will be back - just wasn't as comfortable as our previous visit.
been passing this pub many many time, it was my first time visit. the interior decoration was good. toilets were very clean. the dishes ordered were delicious. the beef was tender in signature burger.but the beef was tough in mixed grill and no lamb chop. the belly pork was tender and tasty. the ice cream sundae and sticky toffee pudding were good.
Fab place to stay. Rooms are tastefully decorated and there were little things that made a difference. Option to have cold milk for the tea and coffee and cookies too Chocolates on the bedside tables. Service was great as well. Plenty of parking and just off the motorway. Only issue was the mirror too high in the bathroom and I prefer a shower rather than a shower in the bath. But no deal breaker. Definitely stay again and would try the food next time.
Had a family birthday meal. 4 out of 5 meals were very good. The other was both the starter and main meal was on the specials, crispy pheasant strips were nice, all 3 of them. The main was wild boar sausage, mash and onion gravy which was also nice however there was 2 small sausages and a small blob of mash. It wasn't worth half the money charged. We had a birthday cake at home then but my son went for a fish on his way home as he was starving.
We have been twice for a meal at The Red Lion and have never been disappointed.
My parents have stayed in the hotel once and said the rooms were lovely. It’s not too far from where we live so it’s quite convenient when they visit us.
The food always tastes so fresh and every member of staff we come across is helpful and pleasant. I haven’t ever had chance to get any staff’s names but they’ve all been lovely.
This evening we enjoyed beautifully cooked Sea Bass and Scallops, which were really tasty and presented nicely.
I like the specials sheet that is handed out with the menus too, it’s always got something seasonal and tempting.
We will definitely keep coming back ☺️
Been here multiple times for breakfast with Santa, lunch and for Sunday roast (including pudding) and each time the food has been great. No long waits, great table service and really tasty food.
Great presentation of food also
Will definitely be coming back. It’s also a family friendly and cosy environment
Lovely overnight stay also. Rooms were very clean and spacious and had lovely decor.
I booked this hotel for my husband's Birthday, so he could have a drink with his meal so he didn't have to drive afterwards.
First of all on arrival, the hotel has ample parking with plenty of accessible parking spaces.
The hotel was very inviting to look at.
We were greeted by the manager (I didn't manage to get his name), he was very polite, welcoming and gave us all the info we needed for our night's stay.
Our room was number 17...very clean airy and inviting. A big enough wardrobe for hanging clothes, there is also an iron, ironing board and a hairdryer inside the wardrobe. The bathroom is beautifully decorated with both a rainfall and handheld shower.
The double bed was very comfortable and bedding spotless. There is a lovely touch of a couple of miniature chocolates on the bedside table.
There is a hot drinks tray in the room with a kettle, a good selection of coffee, tea and hot chocolate and biscuits.
We had our evening meal in the restaurant which is very tastefully decorated, the staff were excellent and very attentive. The food was excellent and very well presented.
We were served by Laura and Arlie who were both fantastic.
Breakfast was very good, with a good choice of cereals and fruit juices. Coffee/tea is served at the table and refilled as often as you like.
The maple and bacon pancakes are absolutely amazing...thoroughly recommended.
All in all, I would thoroughly recommend this hotel for a stay and a meal...10/10
Thankyou to management and all staff for a lovely overnight stay at your beautiful hotel, we will definitely be recommending to others and will be back again.
Very nice pub. Good food and most of service was good. Only issue we had was mushroom starter was cold. Had to wait ages for our empty cups to be taken away whilst eating mains. Then asked for a cup of tea and was given hot milk. Asked for some cold milk. Waited 1p mins for milk. No milk was brought so had to go and ask again.
The building is beautiful inside. The toilets are spectacular.
Five of us went for a meal Saturday evening, service was excellent, food piping hot, nice to see some old classics back on the new menu, even though the portion sizes were more than enough we all managed deserts which were as good as our main courses. All of us enjoyed it and will definitely be going back
I have only used this place for the bar. We go occasionally primarily because it’s the only place nearby that all of my family have something they like to drink. Drinks are a bit dearer than other pubs/bars nearby. However they do a lovely hot chocolate with a piece of cookie which is my favourite, and a large selection of soft drinks too. Just wish there was a bit more area for sitting in the bar section as quite frequently it’s packed with people stood all over.
Also with the car park remember to log your reg. They do have a tablet to log it on but (I believe) only the 1 so you often have to ask someone to move to access it.
First time here meeting family for a pre-Christmas meal and to exchange presents. Service was really friendly and helpful and the Sunday roasts and sharing platter were exceptional. Huge portions, freshly cooked and the turkey with some of the best I’ve ever had far better than I would normally expect from a pub on a busy Sunday! Would highly recommend.
We visited the Red Lion for a birthday meal for my girlfriend, upon our arrival we were seated promptly by Arley, by which the service we received for taking our orders for drinks and food was top notch! The food was all brought out with immaculate presentation and it was all perfectly cooked, we both really enjoyed our experience and would definitely come back again! Thank you :)
Took my little boy for lunch. We were seated somewhere quiet, and looked after so well during our time there. Gemma brought us a high chair, crayons and an activity sheet and she made a fuss of my little boy. She was very friendly, polite and had a smile on her face, which can be rare at times in hospitality. The child’s meal was a great size and freshly cooked local produce. A quality meal for children. Would take my little boy again.
The Red Lion is also a great place for dinner with friends. Well decorated, nice country interior, warm and a great atmosphere.
Thank you Gemma for looking after us so well, see you again soon.
Lovely place to eat. Came with my wife for a nice meal. Laura gave us amazing service and all the staff were very polite and helpful.
