Absolutely blown away by this place the service was above and beyond what you would expect for a pub. Attentive, friendly, prompt, courteous, and even took the time to take my email for a recipe to be emailed over! Myself and my fiance had the pork chop, completely stunning and cooked to perfection, 2 people I ate with had steak, and said it was melt in the mouth amazing, and my mum had the hake, which she said was just sublime. On top of that, the view was completely breath taking, overlooking the harbour, just so relaxing. Will 100% be back for more. Well done Mr Outlaw!
Can't praise this enough. Started with a terrine. Very nice I thought... Moved to 35 day Steak. £30 ish I thought it was a little dearer than your beefeater type places but hey I am on holiday and in Nathan Outlaws restaurant so I expect it to be a little higher. Well ....it was worth every penny. Looked to perfection and proper melt in the mouth cut. Then lastly the desert......Now this is not something actually to be proud of but I do know my sticky toffee puddings and have a top five list of where I have had them (yes quite sad). Having had two poor versions elsewhere in Cornwall I came up with a reasoning that if they are square cut then they are likely to be better as individuals in a round pudding seem to be the poorer way. Having askedvthr waitress she said it was round so I declined a desert. My party ordered one for me any way and I could not have been any further wrong if I tried. This desert went straight to No1. Heavenly. Great view over the bay/sea rec just enhanced a lovely evening and everyone else enjoyed their meals too. I will be back next time I am down in Rock.
The food was absolutely delicious. I had the pork chop and you could taste every element on the plate that accompanied it together with a lovely sauce. My husband had the Butter chicken curry which he thoroughly enjoyed.
The only hitch was that my meal was lukewarm. I pointed this out straightaway and immediately our waitress said they would do me a completely fresh dish and we wouldn't be charged for it. I was happy with that. We were then also offered complimentary desserts. This we thought was a very nice gesture and unexpected. For me this is great customer service. Many places would not have done this.
The only other minor point is that it wasn't full but we were right in a corner so perhaps didn't get the full atmosphere. The fine cooking more than made up for this. We ate at Rick Stein's Bistro in Padstow later in the week and we enjoyed that but for us the food at The Mariners definitely stood out more. We will definitely return.
