Beautiful looking pub. When we ordered, I spoke to the serving staff about my food allergies. She checked with chef, who was so professional that he would only offer me a few options. I was very impressed with chef and all five of us had delicious starters and had just begun to eat our equally delicious main courses when our friend had a stroke. We informed staff that we needed an ambulance and this duty was taken on by Chelsea. She remained calm and considerate throughout, as were the less involved staff. Our friends left for the hospital, we two remained to pay the bill and thank staff. I was given some foil, in which to wrap my perfectly cooked steak, to take home. High praise is due to Chelsea, other waiting staff and chef. When our friend recovers, we hope to return for a happier visit!
Suzie.
Found a decent eatery around this area at last.
Lovely olde English pub with great food and atmosphere, set in a picturesque location by a golf course.
Our first time at this pub and it didn't disappoint.
Has entertainment too some nights.
Will be going again.
We had a family meal here years ago and it was amazing
Great pub, with a nice garden to relax on, friendly staff and atmosphere. Great food and reasonably priced
My wife and I recently booked a table at the Shepherd and Dog Pub for a Saturday evening meal. I called on the same day but think the only reason we were able to get a table at such short notice was because the World Cup football was on TV. By 7.30pm the restaurant was packed. The staff are very polite and helpful and it has a good country pub feel to it. All 3 courses were served at just the right time, we never felt like we were waiting around or that we were rushed. The food was cooked to perfection and the flavour made me want to shake the chef's hand, it was honestly that tasty. I can definitely recommend the scallops for starters and fillet steak for main. We requested a pepper corn sauce which wasn't on the menu but they was able to provide for us. Two 3 course meals came to £75 with a glass of wine and a large coke but the steak was £21.95 each and there was obviously cheaper options on the menu should you wish. Desserts are generally £5 each. The only reason I haven't awarded 5 stars is because my wife said the corridor to both toilets was quite smelly (of urine). Please note this smell didn't travel through to the customer seating area and I wouldn't have known about it had my wife not mentioned it on her return from the loo. There is plenty of room to park and it backs onto a golf course so it's a lovely relaxing setting. I understand that they can cater for private functions as well and we would most definitely visit there again. We would also recommend this place for either an evening meal or as country pub for a relaxing drink. Please give it a go, I'm sure you won't be disappointed. Thanks for reading 👍😀
This is a difficult pub to review simply because it wasn't terrible nor outstanding. It is worth a visit if you're in the area.
Found it a little pricey for what we had, but not over the top. The portions were good, the staff polite and helpful.
Great food, in a lovely country stop off. Would reccomend and will return. Thank you
First visit. Friendly welcome, good food and good service. Well worth a visit.
Had a Sunday roast and the food was great. My wife had the lamb and me and my son had the beef. Full
Plate of food, great Yorkshire pud and good selection of vegetables.
The waitresses were excellent. Very attentive and friendly.
Complements to the chef Phil and all of the staff.
Really nice place, good selection of beers, friendly staff, very popular, only thing is it saw 3 dogs, and no shepherd's.

Food marvellous, staff friendly. Nice atmosphere,
First time in here earlier this week, and the food was amazing. The cheesecake is the BEST I have tasted ever (and I've tasted lots!), worth a visit for that alone!
