We tried this restaurant for the first time today. The establishment was clean with a quirky decor. Overall the menu was a little vague but luckily the waiter we had was absolutely brilliant and described what each of the dishes contained with recommendations. The lunch menu showed a good selection of options and the portion size for the small skewers was more than enough for bigger lunch. It was lovely to see vegan options available (even though I'm not) and the vegan lemon cake was amazing! Unfortunately we had to go up and ask for assistance a few times, however, I would highly recommend the food here. Very rich and tasty dishes.
We came back In January for our anniversary and what a great spot for lunch. Staff was really friendly and attentive. Hubby enjoyed but stated he would come back.
Me on the other hand will definitely be back with friends and family.
'Hidden Gem is a bit of an understatement".
We had dinner at this restaurant on recommendation from a friend. From the minute we walked in, someone was at hand to welcome us in. The place is on 2 floors and has a very cosy feel. The menu is simple and packed full of flavours and choice. Our food arrived promptly and was very very tasty, and well presented. The staff and owner make you feel at home. They had a live singer, Lucia who performed to a packed restaurant. Made our birthday celebration feel very special. We can't wait for our next venture out to this wonderful place.
What a hidden gem in Upnor! The food was absolutely amazing. We tried a range of small plates and a main, and couldn't fault any of it. The Sangria was also very nice. No room for dessert unfortunately.
Absolutely amazing service from Nídia, the daughter of the owners.
Had some limpets, that looked and tasted absolutely AMAZING!!
The highlight of our day was the Espetada. Amazing sides, authentic Madeira food... Never felt more at home than in this restaurant.
My husband absolutely loved it as well - environment was so chill.
Will definitely come back again very soon!
We discovered this hidden gem searching for Portuguese restaurants in the area and it certainly did not dissapoint!
The restaurant has a rustic madeiran vibe and the staff are very friendly (James was hilarious!) But it did take us a little while to grab someone's attention to order.
The cocktails are very well presented and tasted fantastic.
The food is definitely the star of the show! And I mean everything we tried from the mains, sides even the sauces are impeccably cooked and prepared to perfection! The meat was so tender and the balance of flavours was spot on.
The portions are very generous too so make sure you go there hungry.
Overall we had a wonderful dining experience and will definitely be back for more.
Portuguese skewer house, family run and set in a former industrial building near the river that has kept some original parts. There is an upstairs mezzanine dining area which I imagine is just used when very busy. There is plenty of choice on the menu and portions are generous, dishes can be plated and served with rice or chips or you can opt for a wide choice of skewered meat, fish, crustaceans or vegetarian with choices of sides. They also have some amazing desserts and there are a few Portuguese niceties to take away. They have a large selection of wines available as well as a well stocked bar and beer on tap. Sadly there was no music but this was due to a technical problem. We spoke to some staff members who were friendly.
We came here this evening to celebrate a birthday and the atmosphere was brilliant, there was a singer on which really added to the whole experience. The food was great and so delicious and the waiter James was so attentive, wonderful, really funny and did not put any pressure on you, took the time to explain the menu and was everything that you want a waiter to be and even stopped for a chat every now and again.. he even gave us his own special liquor free of charge for the birthday celebrations…James really made the night special and it was a night to remember! We will be back! Thank you
That was amazing food. Had a chicken picadinho with milo in the side and bolo do caco. Pork loin on the stick and beef in the stick were great. Chopped garlic and parsley was weirded but it works. Only thing I was not a fan of was the coffee biscuits cake but that is not going to stop me going back. Still deserves the 5 stars

4 x of us busted here on a recommendation and wasn’t disappointed. Lovely place, smart authentic dressed staff and the food is to die for !! Be aware the service for the main course is not quick as it’s all cooked fresh to order but you won’t be disappointed - the meat is lovely - definitely be coming back here soon for sure - the only negative thing is we had some drinks at the end with a mixer and the mixer was £3.70 on its own !!! 😳😳😳 - a ridiculous amount for one that was a mini can of coke !!! This needs reviewing by the owners as that is a joke.
