12 of us went for our first visit as it was my daughters birthday.
It was a very busy Sunday afternoon. Initially there was a mix up as the table was set for 10 but this was soon sorted.
Had to ask to order drinks tho we was given menus straight away. Food was ok but the beef was so tough even a steak knife didn’t cut it. However the manager came & apologised & promptly took the charge for 2 roast beef dinners off the bill. All in all a very pleasant visit & we will certainly be back. Location & views are beautiful. The young waiter Lewis was so attentive & polite a real asset to the place. 🙂
Gorgeous food mash potato was spot on as was the rest of the food. Reasonaby priced. In a good location bet its busy on a sunny day.
Seated then had to wait a while to be offered drinks and then again to take our order. Wasn't busy at the time.
Hasn't put me off we will be back
We had a lovely overnight stay on a Sunday. The staff were all unbelievable friendly and upbeat, mirroring the enthusiasm of the owner and his son, the food was of great quality and the room was comfortable and clean. We'd definitely stay again and recommend the same to others. Thanks to the whole team!
We have been for a family meal tonight to celebrate my son's 18th birthday. The staff were lovely, and service for food and drinks were very quick. Portion sizes were huge ( great ). We will definitely be going back, and the Kebab was fab. Well done Chef and all waiting staff.
Unexpected stop for a late lunch. Food was really good and the young lady who served us was lovely and attentive. The surroundings and views were to die for. The bar it's self and the outside area was quite busy with manual workers in their work clothes taking their lunch, don't let this put you off. They were lovely and polite.
Visited here today with my nan for her 90th birthday lunch, greeted with a warm welcome. We had fish & chips (normal & kids potion), tomato soup & chicken goujons.
Staff were friendly. Restaurant clean , grest decor.
Really enjoyed the food tasty and fresh .
The soup was full of flavour and my nans favourite haddock for fish.
Very nice touch by the staff to do her a pudding with a candle , all wishing her happy birthday it was much appreciated and made her smile .
The small plates menu looks fab small tapas style dishes so will be returning to sample them .
Thank you to all the staff
The Moorcock is a beautiful inn set on the hills of Blackstone Edge.
On arrival we were welcomed and seated by a lovely young lady who was very attentive and knowledgeable regarding the menu.
The food arrived and it not only looked great but it was cooked perfectly.
The whole experience was pleasant and enjoyable from arriving to departure.
We will definitely be visiting again very soon.
We have been before and really enjoyed the experience. Last time was before Christmas. However something has changed in particular the quality of the food. The sandwich was served on a cold ciabatta which meant the consistency was very heavy. Also the chips were not tasty like before. And prices had gone up .. Very disappointing.
Just visited again yesterday. I can honestly say that we all thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. It was delicious. Prices were a bit on the high side but I am willing to pay more for good food.
Great location, easy to park (no charges)
Landlord and Bar staff are very friendly
Drinks are a good price
Outside seating area with great views
Attending a surprise 40th birthday party 🎂🎉
The food served was excellent and I would recommend a visit here
Went here for a change for a Saturday afternoon, there were four of us, the 4 meals were £59.80 and the drinks were £15.95, the service was good, it wasn't too busy which was great, been many times in the past and it's always been ok.
Watched a fantastic band there called New Identity they buzzed the place with all the classic 80,s dance numbers. Superb evening out.
Had a meal - lovely food. Seating area outside large. Staff friendly. Would definitely go again.
Great food lovely location views to rear of pub down valley are great super external spaces real sun trap in summer
We had an excellent midweek, midday meal at The Moorcock. Cumberland sausage, Cheese & Onion pie, onion rings. All fantastic.
Lovely food and very reasonably priced. Great that they let dogs in and the outside area is nice. It was very busy when we went so things were a bit frantic, but food was lovely.
