10 of us went after the races on sat 22july for a meal. It was pre booked. The place was mad busy as it's the first pub after the race course & a nice day so was packed in & out. Ashley a lovely young girl sat us at our table in the conservatory overlooking the river. She served us food drinks cleared plates took orders for us & others in same area on her own for the 2.5 hrs we were there. It was very hot & some people were a bit demanding but she smiled & was so efficient & polite all the time. We were giving her a large tip but she insisted she couldn't take it for herself it had to go in the pot. A great place great food & fantastic staff, especially Ashley
Excellent fish and chips on Friday so good we went back again Saturday with friends. Husband and our friend all had a wrap I had fish finger sandwich so good. Staff lovely and nice setting with view of the cathedral. Shame we are only here till Monday on our narrow boat but may go back again tonight 😀
Beautiful location and an excellent pub.
Good beer and great food together with friendly efficient staff.
Lovely pub on river. Friendly staff and good food. Will be back for lunch after a walk by the river again. Cheered up a dull January afternoon.
What a lovely place! 12 of us turned up and they were very accommodating! The food was fantastic and the place is lovely.
Friendly staff , great food and dog friendly! We had an amazing Sunday roast and the have doggy wine pawsecco! Definitely go back
Fabulous hen night with beautiful food and we were so well looked after. Cant thank Dan enough for looking after us and helping me plan a lovely evening for my Mum!
I came in just for a pint of real ale after a mix up with a recommendation for another pub, The One Eyed Rat. Happy accident cos I loved the atmosphere and the real ale was well served and a very nice pint. Happy, chirpy bar staff. Thanks
Excellent ale, Theaksons was spot on and served as it should by friendly staff.
Had a great lunch yesterday - would highly recommend it!
I enjoyed a fabulous fish pie in The Water Rat. Great service, good portion sizes and a beautiful view too. It a as also dog friendly for our family's dogs. We all would return and try other items on the menu as everything looked great.
This lovely local pub in an amazing setting on the River is starting to grow on me. 3rd visit now in 2 weeks. Great beers, friendly service nice vibe inside. Seating outside to sit alongside the river and overlooked by Ripon Cathedral. Albeit not many tables. Haven't eaten there yet but the food coming out of the kitchen looked great and well presented.
Lovely spot to have a morning coffee, great views great interior, friendly happy staff, but our coffee was lukewarm, despite that we would go back.
Arrived about 12:30 on a sunny Good Friday. Was told there would be an hours wait for food. Table would be ready at 1:30. We were happy with this as it wasva lovely day and we were sat outside in the sun. Steak pie was homemade, as were the chips. Nice big chunks of meat. Gammon sandwich was amazing too. The girl who was waiting on was doing a sterling job. The landlord was a nice guy too. Apologetic for the wait and appeared to check the waitress was OK, which was nice. Lovely pub with big picture windows with lovely views of the river. Dog friendly too.
Had a pint here, friendly service and not too expensive. Sat at the outside tables right next to the roaring river, which have a great view up towards the Cathedral.
Really nice place. Great view when sitting outside. Staff friendly..
We visited for Mothers day and were lucky to be the last sitting as it meant we didn't have to leave. Although all food etc was finished in plenty of time so we wouldn't have been rushed. The food was amazing and generous portions, and service was quick and very friendly with lots of smiles, even at the end of what must have been a very busy day!
Delicious fish n chips. It's rare to find yourself eating all those stray bits of batter, in this case because they are so light and tasty. Great view out onto the river and nice people. Burger looked good, fish pie was honest and creamy, sandwiches looked good. Highly recommended.
Just showed up without booking and we were told it would be a one hour wait but was infact 30 minutes was shown to a table had a great view the staff were very friendly and so helpful they couldn't do enough for us 😀 so glad we chose to go to The Water Rat the food was superb atmosphere was great definitely would go again and highly recommend
Just had an excellent lunch here; there were 7 of us and not one bad meal. I had a Goat cheese & onion marmalade sandwich and it was delicious. Prices are reasonable and the service was good. We sat in the conservatory and there’s a nice view of the river. There’s seating outside as well. Would definitely recommend The Water Rat if you’re in Ripon.
Called in for lunch today and the attention, service, food and atmosphere was fantastic, could not of asked for better.
Lovely meal, great friendly service. It was was dark and windy when we went so can't wait to go back summer to experience the lovely views and beer garden!
Beautiful pub/restaurant by the river. Favourite place to go after a long walk. Friendly staff and great food. Best to book in advance for the Sunday carvery as it's very popular :-)
Lovely atmosphere, amazing view, friendly staff and relatively cheap prices. I didn’t have any of the food as I only came for a drink, but I would definitely recommend coming here if you’d like a relaxing pint in Ripon. (Good tunes too)
