Had an absolutely beautiful meal!
The portions are very generous & very well priced.
They have a very well put together menu, which includes a lot of options for people with Gluten, Dairy Allergies etc.
Would 100% recommend it to my friends & family.
My friend & I had the pleasure of meeting the owners of the pub - lovely people, with extraordinary minds. We’ve spoken about our horrible experience at the restaurant that my friend and I went to for her birthday the day before, and the owners have sent a stunning birthday cake to my friend - which was absolutely magical. The decor is outstanding & very different from everything that I have seen before. They’re also dog friendly!
Overall, extremely pleased - the best food/atmosphere in the area with fantastic service!!
Lovely garden, had live music outside. Service was good. Helpful staff as ive got allergies. Food was nice.
Visited on Sunday the 1st of October at 1.30 for a family lunch.
We were a group of 12 who couldn't fault our dining experience in any way .
Five stars for service, food ,friendliness of staff and atmosphere.

Welcomed by the Staff and had choice of seating. We arrived as a walk in for lunch on a very sunny day, it was relatively quiet and had a nice atmosphere as well as good garden areas with shade. The food was delicious we had the fish special and a sharing mezzo plate which were well worth the money and excellent local beers to choose from.
As ever a great Sunday lunch at the Anchor. Staff are wonderful friendly and efficient. The food was great. Sorry for reading samphire as Sardines. My mistake 🤣🤣
Really lovely pub and great Sunday roast. Only issue I had is the baby changing - only changing facilities in the ladies toilets and it is inside a toilet cubical so there is no space to move - you have to keep the door open to pull down the changing mat but the door doesn’t stay open and the mat is so high up it is really almost impossible to use unless you are super tall!
Nice spot to try out a meal for lunch or supper times 😁, great idea for seated waitress service without needing to stand around at the bar for ordering. A Nice few menu choices for any time of day, would be delighted to come back and try out more, including the South Downs Cider for drinks, well done to all.🐴🐴
From the previous time I came to this pub, it has improved dramatically!
Mum being vegetarian and a great cook makes her limited on what she'll eat out. Not only was I satisfied, she was too (I'm a bit easier to please. Lol) The first time I heard of mussels in cider with pancetta, but it was delicious.
Portion sizes were plentiful if not slightly too much! Needless to say, I ate most of mine.
Customer service was wonderful, and being a dog friendly place is a winner for me.
There are 2 large dogs living here, but both were extremely friendly (bit overweight... like me, I'll add, although I'm less so. 😉)
We booked for 6.15pm. Unfortunately a large party had booked just in front of us. Staff kindly warned us there would be a delay of 30 minutes as a result. 45 minutes later we were still waiting and staff were very apologetic. The food was very tasty when it arrived and was worth the wait. Decent portions too. Several good options for vegan/vegetarians. After a good choice of mains for vegans it was disappointing to find just one desserts option which was ice cream advertised as vegan but delivered with a non-vegan chocolate stick. Overall quite good though.
Sat out in the garden on a sunny day. Prompt service for food and drink by a very helpful young lady. Food was piping hot and very large portions. We didn't have a starter but saw others with them.
Nice spot in the village with a range of lunch and supper items that should be good to try out, nice at seat waitress service good so don't need to keep going to the bar all the time. Would definitely be a good place to try and come again..
Our first meal out since lockdown, and a brilliant choice. Firstly they appear to be taking proper safety measures. Hand sanitizer at the entrance, taking contact details and distancing. The service was great. And the food was delicious, and such generous portions. I had veggie sausages and mash and couldn't quite finish it, even though I have a big appetite.
I can honestly say this is the best place to eat and drink. The food is incredible, cooked to perfection and massive portions, the service is First Class, plenty of staff on hand to take your order and check all is okay and to top it all off it’s very reasonably priced. This is now our go-to pub and well worth the extra drive to in our case from Uckfield. Would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a lovely pub, with great food, service, and an amazing outdoor garden area.
