First time I've visited the Wellington and it certainly won't be the last ... The food was fabulous. I had the slow cooked pork belly and my partner had the homemade steak and ale pie. We were both looking forward to a dessert, but our helpings were more than generous so unfortunately we had no room left to sample one. We were greeted with a warm and friendly welcome, all the staff were very polite and attentive.

A fantastic place for a meal. Plenty of parking available and disabled parking near the building too. Part of the bar is up a step so may be a challenge for some disabilities (it's a very old building) Was made to feel very welcome and so was my dog. He was allowed in the bar and there were blankets for him to lay on. There is seating available outside if you perfer. The food was good and hot when it was served. The menu is that of most pubs (but go earlier if you want the roast dinner, as it had sold out when we got there)

Came here with Mam for an impromptu Sunday lunch. Staff Steph and David looked after us very well. I had the mushroom wellington with all the trimmings of a roast, including stuffing. Was tasty. Ma had the cod and salad, it was good too. Nice friendly welcome and they were very attentive- place was packed, always a good sign

Decent historic pub with a good range of beers and friendly service. Nice outdoor terrace if it's not raining.

We came here with friends after supporting one of our party in the GNR 2021. The restaurant was clean and modern, classic but very smart. We had a choice of tables and the staff were very friendly and efficient. We ordered starters, mains and deserts and we all agreed that there was not a single dish that wasn’t spot on! Everything was hot and fresh and delicious! Portions were great and value for money was excellent! I have saved this fantastic eaterie to my Google favourites and we will stop here again next time we’re in the area. Thank you to the full team for a superb night! EDIT 10/10/2021: Ate here again last night and again the food was really good. Sadly my booking hadn’t worked but they still found a table for us and the staff were friendly and efficient. The restaurant was busy but it was still clean and of a very high standard :)

Stopped in for a quiet pint during the hot weather. Service was good, welcome was a little frosty but the beer was great. Would love to go for food sometime soon. Menu looks really nice.

Absloutely fantastic travelled up from the south east to consett. After struggling to find somewhere we liked the Wellington was an absloute GEM! our 2 year old son with autism took really well here and the staff (sorry I didn't catch there names) were so lovely and attentive even compliemented our sons new wellies hehe very sweet. As far as the food it was more then 5* with fantastic portion sizes and a great kids menu choice. Delicious food and service also reccomeneded the pub/restaurant in our visitors book where we stayed absloutely worth a visit. *****
