Little La Buvette has been tucked beside St. Mary Magdalene church in Richmond since 2004. I have passed it countless times and been charmed by its promising exterior but in all those years, have never managed to set foot inside. Richmond, just ten minutes down the road from me, is a lovely little place. Pregnant with history, of course, with its connotations of the Tudor court of Henry VIII, it’s bustling with pubs, cafes and every high street shop imaginable and right on the River Thames, but it’s also hellish to park there and, let’s face it, being in a different county, Surrey, it’s out of London. While I can happily kid myself that Barnes where I live, is in the leafy ‘outskirts’ of the metropolis, Richmond really is the burbs, isn’t it? Come on, why ever would you eat in some little French restaurant in the suburbs when there are such fabulously buzzy places right here in the big city? Seriously, je ne crois pas!

Fantastic french food! Looking to go back again! I ordered all the desserts! Lovely atmosphere with a nice outdoor eating area as well - they also provide blankets and heaters for colder days! Really welcoming and friendly staff! 10/10 would recommend!

This is a fantastic french bistro in a great location in Richmond. Simple, classic french menu with decent wine. Great atmosphere and service. Always a friendly welcome. The £20 set menu is an incredible deal. A good value meal that does not skimp on quality, quantity or service. Perfect treat whether you're on a budget or not. Recommended.

Lovely restaurant. Very picturesque and great value for money if you get the meal deal. I've given 4 stars instead of 5 because there wasn't a great variety of vegetarian options. The food was lovely though. I'd definitely recommend

Great food, well presented. Great service. I've eaten here a dozen or so times in the last year. Service has always been impeccable. The menu changes regularly with in season ingredients. They really know what they're doing

If you are looking for a lovely table to have great food in a relaxed atmosphere, don't hesitate. I go there regularly, mostly for diner and it is always a superb experience. Fresh, well cooked food with a good selection of wines, friendly staff and not too pricey (if you see scallops on the menu, don't look twice and take them!). Also, the courtyard is pretty cool, specially in the summer. I would recommend this place as one of my top restaurants in Richmond.

My boss actually recommended this place and oh my goodness... I can't fault it. Once I learnt that we had to sit outside to eat cheese fondue I have to say... I was worried. But it was raining and freezing and we were so warm! Blankets and a heater... what more could you want? The cheese fondue was faultless and we are hard to please... After having fondue in France, Switzerland and more places than I care to admit... it's hard to find somewhere that ticks all the boxes! The wine list is brilliant and didn't give me a heart attack... the meat selection was amazing and the service was incredible. Hayley our waitress had some tricky (very drunk) customers to deal with whilst we were there. She was amazing. She kept us happy as well as the mumbling drunkyards next to us. She needs a medal for her customer service skills. I can't fault this place. Absolutely 5* I can't believe more people don't know about it ❤️ See you next time.

Wasn't to sure to start with especially with all the promotional stickers in the windows. But food was cooked to perfection and tasted great. Chef is capable, you should do a seasonal menu to get punters returning.

A short menu of well prepared food with a 3 course fixed price for £20. Two people, two free glasses of kir, one glass of wine, two desserts a la carte £67, cheaper if you stick to the fixed price. Small dining area in what is essentially a house. Booking essential any day of week.

Pretty restaurant down a narrow road. Wouldn't have known this place existed. Food was delicious and very good value for money if you get the fixed price lunch and dinner. The staff were all very friendly. The courtyard was pretty and sheltered from the sun or rain!

La Buvette is our favourite restaurant not only in Richmond but probably in London. We dine here regularly and have never been disappointed. The staff are charming and very professional and the food is first class.

A firm favourite. Unfussy but smart, for both food and service. The guinea fowl was gorgeous, and the cheese board for dessert as good as always. When can I go again?!

I so want this place to be good but each time i visit the atmosphere is more and more like a pensioners club. The food is good and authentic the location is perfect but the atmosphere is 1980s
