What a brilliant pub and what a credit to the people of the village. We've eaten here twice this week and drunk here without food once. Not only do they have one of the best selection of beers, ciders and whiskeys I've seen anywhere but also serve the best food bar none. My partner is a veggie and hates paying the same price for 'mushroom risotto' or 'veggie lasagne' as I pay for a decent steak but she was treated to two different veggie pie options (with short crust pastry to die for) but also other veggie options on the ample menu. Today being Sunday, we went for traditional roast (Nut Roast for her) and neither of us have ever had better. I had Lamb AND Beef which were cooked to perfection and had plenty of flavour unlike cheaper meats. You can tell that the claims of everything being sourced locally are true by the quality of the ingredients. VEGGIES come and try it..............(she made me put that!). If the weather permits there is a large patio and garden with unsurpassed views over the Swale valley. Kid and Dog friendly and always a crackling fire in cold weather. FIVE stars only because SIX isn't an option.

Great place, great food, great staff! Stopped by last night for dinner and a few ales, which were all superb. Warmed ourselves up by the open fire. It is a great pub!

What a lovely afternoon we've just had at the Beer, Cider & Cheese Festival. Superb range of drinks, wonderful service, amazing atmosphere. Left before the live music, but you can't have everything.

Great Real Ale pub. We cycled 11 miles from a campsite in Leyburn especially to visit this great pub again. 8 cask beers on including several excellent Yorkshire bitters. Lamb pie was very good and the barman very welcoming and friendly. Dog friendly and nice views from the beer garden.

We were staying at Flowery Dell nearby, and ended up going in here 4 times! Fantastic selection of ales, and lovely food. We had pies on Saturday evening, which were delicious; then Sunday Lunch which was superb. But the thing we loved most was the amazing welcome - everyone was so friendly! Each time we went in we ended up having a lovely conversation with staff or fellow guests. We absolutely loved it here!

What better way to spend a Saturday lunch time. Pie chips and gravy in the pub garden. Food was hot and cooked to order. Friendly atmosphere and lovely people. Would definitely recommend.

After searching far and wide for the perfect Sunday lunch, low and behold, it is right on our doorstep, we both had the beef and lamb combo,it was perfect, full of flavour, real gravy, home made yorkshire pudding, veg not over cooked, every mouthful a delight, finished up with a tasty desert and cafeteria of coffee each, great quick service, friendly staff, very reasonable prices, stunning choice of beers. A pint of Viking, medium, white wine, 2 x lunches, 2 x deserts and 2 x cafeterias of coffee £50.25, now that is value. I cannot recommend the George and Dragon highly enough, you will not be disappointed. 5***** food 5***** service 5***** value for money 10********** flavour

An exceptional Sunday lunch. Went with family who were all really pleased with how tasty the food was and the various dishes of vegetables which accompanied it. Portion size was excellent. Highly recommended.

Excellent pub. Lovely walk from Richmond on a sunny day. Was not expecting a vegan option but they had a great vegan curry on the menu so we stayed for lunch. Staff were very knowledgable and gave recommendations on the beer. Could have sat in the beer garden all day. Cheers.

Great old country pub with probably the best beer garden in the world. Great selection of ales etc but the slowest service in the world. If you are in a hurry this is not the place for you but if you want to drink in the view you are in the right place.

Very nice people, tending to have a good laugh with them, carrying good conversation. Always nice to have a chat with the workers there, makes the place feel welcoming. The food was very good, as myself being a picky eater, it was one of or the best food I’ve ever had when eating out, a fast service to make it better, the chatting made the time pass by very nicely. My family said the beers, ales and ciders were very very nice also that their food was amazing. Finally, just to add on, it was very nice that they are as pet friendly as they are, makes anyone feeling welcome. Just gives the pub that local spark - Charlie and family.
