Fantastic river-side location, friendly and service under beautiful big trees and umbrellas to watch the world go by. Yummy traditional dishes from Bavaria (and some other German/Austrian /Polish) with creamy mashed potatoes to make this Irishman very happy. The "must order food to order beer" may be a legal requirement but it's healthier and sensible too.
Very good beer and food, fast service, I recommend.
I reconmend the meat loaf salad at this restraunt this is delicious and lovely sitting by the river outside you must order food to have a drink here very pleasent place to be
Good cold beer, loved the bratwurst German sausage, and the little Thuringer wurst were authentic tasting. Bratkartoffel excellent, just like my Oma's! Excellent, efficient service; just as I would expect from our German neighbours, hot food, relaxed atmosphere to chill out and watch the world pass, by the Thames. Toilets nice and clean. The only thing missing from this little gem of a place is some Bavarian lakes and mountains, but hey, we can't have it all!
It’s a long time since I’ve had Bavarian food this good, everything was excellent. The staff were helpful and we had no issues unlike some people who have posted here. Will we be back ? most definitely.
Great food, good value for money and friendly service. The organic wine is delicious. Highly recommend
Great food, great spot and great , value for money..three time we have been with and without the kids..well worth a trip out.
Great food quick service, the best place to be on a warm summer evening by the river.
Lovely place and delicious food ! I really recommend it
Excellent! Loved the atmosphere, Bavarian food and beer. Viel Spass!
Great place, great service and the food tastes just like home :-) would come back anytime!
It was lovely to have a meal by the River Thames on a warm summer evening.
Excellent food, and excellent service. The beer selection was impressive, the sausages as well as their sides were a great treat after a nice long walk down the river.
I found Stein's in Richmond by the power of Searching online. Top rated on Google, I was stubborn and went for it. I had no idea what was being served or the venue or even arrangement, but all were fine and on a nice early Spring day, it worked perfectly. Located on the river Thames near Richmond, Stein's welcomes passer-by's to long benches and a covered outdoor area.
For a lazy sunny Sunday afternoon, few better places come to mind than Stein's on the river. Succinctly phrased as "sausages and beer" by our friendly group of bench-sharing strangers
Oh, the summer is leaving us this year but I can still reflect back on some great al fresco meals we've had - ok, who am I kidding? I have a bit of a photo backlog from this summer and I'm finding a few gems here and there to share with you. Like that day
German food! German beer!
The first time I went to this place I told myself that I would visit regularly.
Beautiful location my the river, lively ambience and fun seating. They have an indoor and outdoor section which you can chose from. I always prefer sitting outside looking at the beautiful river, the ducks and people walking past. They serve sumptuous stomach filling delicious meals. The assorted sausage and mash dish is cooked in an amazing sauce that will tickle your taste buds. If you are visiting this place with a group of 9-10 people they have a huge assorted sausage platter for 9 which costs 99£. This dish stretches across the entire table and is full of the various sausages of different sizes and tastes. It is worth the price. On Mondays they have an offer on the snritzel which is a German dish. Make it a point to visit on a Monday for this yummy deal. If not a Monday they surely have better options for other days. I love this restaurant.
I find from the website that many German lives in Richmond of London, so I guess that I can find authentic German restaurant here. Luckily this is a wise and good choice. This restaurant is located at the riverside, so you can enjoy very beautiful scenery and quiet atmosphere. Of course, you must enjoy outdoor dining environment as it is the only choice. The company website shows that it is providing Bavarian food and drink here. You can find lots of choices like sausage, meatloaf, potato salad, sauerkraut and pretzel, etc.. The food taste is authentic which is similar to that we have in Frankfurt. We also order Radler shandy which is an Adlerkonig lager & lemonade. The taste is light and little sweet. If you also like German food, it is definitely one of your good choices in this great city.
Very nice place , when you are walking by the river .. you can step by and have a drink 🍻 and eat German tasty food ! There is a toilet and a lots of tables and seats. You can feel safe , there is a wonderful security guy and waitresses. Thank you for that 🍀 I will visit you again for 100% sure 🍀
Always good food, amazing beer garden atmosphere with a beautiful view of the Thames! Jacob is always lovely and all the staff are friendly and helpful. The Schnitzel is really yummy, I love the Gulash and potato salad from here
We had an amazing night here for my partner’s birthday - we were well accommodated by all the staff, very friendly and helpful. We ordered the large sharing platter and it was huge! Plenty to feed 15 people and so delicious. Will be back soon for sure. Thank you!
A really cool Biergarten in Richmond. A stones throw from the Thames.
It’s all bench style seating so be prepared to share with another group. It’s all part of the fun.
A good selection of draft German beers with a few extra bottle versions.
Currywurst and Bratten potatoes were particularl stars of the show.
You might wait a bit as it’s busy but enjoy the moments there and if you want to speed it up you can order and it vi an app on the table.
Really good food and the location is brilliant, especially on a sunny day/evening.
Highly recommend!
Love Fish? Fine dining that you can still afford. Wonderful pulpit, Seabream, chowder, dove sole. And a muscadet that’s worth it!
We come here often and are never disappointed! Take on the ‘Giant Sausage Feast’ if you feel like a challenge, definitely worth it for groups of 8 or more!
Absolutely fabulous little German riverside restaurant and Beer garden. Quite frankly one of the best Schnitzels in London and the sausages were not bad at all (if a tad Salty).
The service is impeccable and friendly and all German speaking.
The Beers and cocktails were a treat too as is the amazing riverside view sitting on the terrace.
Top tip: Book your table... or you will be sitting inside which is still great (Music played is outstanding) but the terrace is a highlight of you can get it.
It's a lovely place by the River with Bavarian food. The meal must be paid at the time of order, which i find it very useful.
I had a table and was waiting for my party to arrive. I wanted to have a drink while waiting but the drinks can only be ordered with food. I understand why they are doing it but it's a little inconvenience.
Soooo yummy German style food!
Lively, lovely, enjoyable place!
Dog friendly, good for family&friends gathering!
Nice location, food usually arrives quickly (because, realistically it's quite basic cooking). A bit expensive for what it is, but it's the nice outdoor location that sells it.
Great food, service and great view of the river
We stopped here for a quick lunch over the weekend. The food was ok, but the portions are gigantic. For example, we had potato salad with sausages, and there were 2 slim sausages and about 1kg of potato salad. Definitely better to share, unless you're really starving. I think we would have enjoyed it more if the portion sizes were smaller, or if the waiters would have alerted us about their ginormous size.
The location is great, the service is good ok. WCs are passable. The food is pretty good.
The perfect German beer garden experience right by the riverfront at Richmond. Outdoor seating with some heating for colder days and a perfect spot to catch the sun on warmer days. Excellent German craft beer and a tasty menu of German food cooked to perfection. Lovely sausages, creamy buttery mash, perfect sauerkraut and punchy mustard. We loved the location, the food and the beers. Highly recommended.
Went there a couple of days ago just for a coffee as we were passing by and the staff were so kind. They were so kind to my son who has autism. Lovely people, thank you so much ❤️
