The food was lovely. Had rustic bread and butter to share, a pasta bowl and pie of the day.
The spinach tortellini was so tasty.
Great location, in the winter it has raring fires, in the summer. Amazing outside space along the canal.
Fabulous Sunday lunches, and if you want a cocktail - order any of them - they are all fantastic!
Pleasantly surprised! One look at the menu yielded little of appeal and an expectation of maximum price for a minimum portion. However, after ordering our food arrived promptly, looked appetizing, tasted good with decent portion sizes. Although I was a little disappointed with the chips which came several minutes after my main course, 'fresh out of the fryer' but hard and chewy nonetheless. The decor and ambiance are lovely and I think in part that's why my chicken breast and chips cost 18 quid. The wife was happy with her prawn and chorizo linguine for £17 which is all that matters. Can't fault the staff who were excellent.
We visited The Hop Pole for the first time for a family wedding, great atmosphere, staff were amazing, very pleasant and helpful, live music, food we had was good but not amazing for a wedding, could do with a bit more parking but overall great experience 😀
Lovely pub in a fantastic location on the Bank of the Chesterfield canal . Loads of outdoor seating and decking. Clean and tidy inside with a reasonable choice of drinks. Would be far better if the staff engaged with the customers as it seemed a problem to speak or reply .
Amazing place! Beautiful location and can paddle right up. Will be back!

Went to a wedding and it was brilliant. The venue is beautiful, the food was great and the staff were lovely. Wish it was closer to home. Well done to the whole team, it was really busy and we could all see how hard you were working in the ridiculously hot weather!

Lovely family meal, very good service and polite and friendly staff 😀 fantastic steak and ale pie 🥧
Really good food, the service could be a bit faster and would be nice to have staff check on us in case we need anything. Props to the chefs because the food was amazing!
It was busy for a Thurs evening, good job we booked!, party of 6, service and food wax excellent.
Not been before, more pricy than normal pub food but the service, standard of food and beautiful surrounding were worth it. Looking forward to another visit.
Very friendly family run this beautiful pub and restaurant. The garden is amazing, with lots of unusual seating areas, such as Tiki huts. We were allowed to moor our narrowboat there and enjoyed a sumptuous Sunday lunch. We met some lovely people, and one couple have become firm friends that we will certainly see again. We're looking forward to mooring here again on our return trip.
Excellent main meal, side/starter that we had with the platter main course was both expensive and not very impressive in either taste or portion. Good service, 5 minute check done to confirm we were happy with the the meal.
Excellent quality food , lovely river side setting. Beautifully decorated and welcoming and professional service.
What special cars!!!!!! Great night its getting really popular but the owner can't get staff so long long wait for the bar(over 30mins) but everyone was happy to wait on this special night , there was a Maclaren worth around 1.5 million 😀 there(I was told) it's worth a visit for old & young alike, they have the event twice a month 👍
Had a few days away plenty of walking, going down the canal towpath came across the hop pole, called in for sunday lunch, roast beef dinner x 5 not the cheapest but got to say it was brilliant everything cooked and laid out lovely ,the cauliflower cheese was the best iv,e ever had ,so if you want cheap go to macdonalds or some where but if you want a proper meal ,and service go to hop pole my new fav restaurant will be back...
