The Monk's Retreat - Reading - Photo album

This pub belongs to the Stonegate group. The service was pretty fast, and the prices were great. Possibly, it's the biggest fish I've ever had in a pub.
Looking for a place to eat on a Friday night that was still serving regular food after 9pm. You order through an app at your table and they bring you everything. Great experience! The food was good. The music was good. The service and atmosphere were good. I would recommend to anyone passing t
Reasonable price for drinks and food. Good service. And they played some reasonable music, including the very good Denis by Blondie! A thoroughly enjoyable evening!
Decent enough pub in the town center. Drink selection on tap is good but not amazing. Shows live sports which is nice. Lots of booth seating which is also really nice
Me and my sister visited this place and had a great time, great food lovely atmosphere and staff was friendly and welcoming; the bartender who served us, Nicola really stood out. so friendly very funny and super fast and accurate service. will be coming back!
I love this place! The cocktails are really good and with two for one you can’t go wrong. The food is always so nice and the service is amazing! Philipp in particular is always super helpful and attentive. Thank you 😊
As a regular customer in the Monks Retreat I would very much like to Commend the atmosphere in the pub particularly over the lunchtime period (11am-1500). This is particularly down to the efficiency and as importantly the good humour of Nikki behind the bar. She deserves all the plaudits she gets. W
This was simply amazing! I loved the pies. The staff was supernice and this place warmed both my heart and my stomach! Thanks so much! Really!
Called in today Friday. Working locally in Queen Victoria Street. Excellent Fish n chips with peas plus a drink. Good value. Top service. Highly recommend
Visiting Reading for 3 months. This is our favorite place for a steak and jacket. Very friendly staff. Service is fast, even when crowded. Prices are better than others in this area. Clean and nice atmosphere. Outside seating nice to enjoy a drink.
Just in for a cheeky pint but thought it worth reviewing. No time to eat or properly hang out but reckon I would if I could. Old school pub layout but with lots of space. It’s a big bar too.
This is a Stonegate proper pub located on one of Reading's high streets. Its recent refurbishment has really given it a new edge! Music, TVs with sport on everyday, live music or DJs on the weekends... Open from 9am till late, it offers everything from great tasting full English breakfasts to craft
Visited the Monks retreat and was not sure of what to expect, but endid up having a fine meal and drink, the Bar Maid Nikki was a fantastic breath of fresh air and assisted with the menu and drinks choise, she then went the extra mile to take my drinks to my table as i am disabled. So will definatly
Great valve for food and drink, and for the sports people plenty of TVs for every one.
Went in for lunch on tuesday afternoon was a lovely atmosphere, pleasant staff especially nikki, nice to see a smiling face behind the bar, food was cheap and cheerful, overall a lovely afternoon
Lovely staff especially nikki she’s a lovely bird always happy always helps when needed couldn’t fault her. Thanks for having lovely staff 😁
Great place to have a quick bite before you head to the Reading station or waiting for the shops to open when you are in town. Breakfast and tea/coffee are not expensive. Friendly staff. Usual Witherspoon price tag.
