My wife and I got married here on 22/09/2018 and we were pleased with the food and excellent service. The staff we lovely and they put our wedding and the guests as number one priority. The event manager was so flexible and she was willing to come up with ideas to make our day special as we had to compromise due to the weather etc. The only reason I’m rating them 4 star is because of one of the toilets which was out of order, besides that it was 100% excellent! If I could I would get married at the same please again but happily, I can only get married once.
I had my wedding reception Yesterday at the venue; and from when I looked at this place over 1 and a half years ago, it was the place i wanted it to happen! The venue came with so much already that the decorations that were put there was just icing on the cake! Every single person in the production of my wedding day was so helpful! The food tasting was amazing! The atmosphere was brilliant! Every detail that was given was laid out to perfection!
I cant praise this place enough! Please please please consider it for a reception!
The food was just a thing of beauty! They listened to every single thing we suggested, and helped us so much! Loved it like nothing else! They are so so helpful!
Held my sisters Nikkah here a little while back and honestly couldn't be happier with the service provided. The food was exceptional, I had a number of my guest come up to me and compliment the food, especially the Fish Amritsari. The Chef really did an outstanding job. The events team were very friendly and looked after us from the time of booking to the event day itself. They honestly made the entire event such a smooth process for us, we couldn't be more happier. A massive thank you to the entire Olympia Ballroom - Shehnai team and the lovely chefs for catering to our very specific needs.
Good Indian food here - lots of flavour and variety. I was here for a comedy and curry event, and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the curry. The setting is okay, not great - I wouldn't have a wedding here as the walls and decorations are not in the best condition. But great for a little gathering and a brilliant setting for the comedy and curry.
2015 was the third year Shehnai have hosted the Alternative Queen of Reading. A celebration for International Women's Day, the event is run in support of local charities, and Shehnai are absolutely fantastic in the support they offer. From helping advise on and arrange the best layout for the evening, to responding to last minute requests, they handle everything professionally and are consistently friendly and helpful. The team that helped set up this year were as accommodating as always, but it was Patrick who was the absolute star of the night, running the bar and helping our team dismantle and take down all the get up, all in good humour (despite him having to be back at the venue at some unearthly hour this morning). The venue is as much a star of the show as all our wonderful acts.
Fantastic venue. We have been organizing our Diwali Party here for the last 7 years and it gets better with every year. People enjoy the ambience, food and especially the food of Shehnai. Highly recommended. A special thanks to the Shehnai team for making our Diwali Party a wonderful experience.
Good sizeable venue, big hall and other rooms/small hall (can be adjusted). Nice long hallway for receiving guests, serving drinks and making an entrance. Parking is a downside as the car park is very small and all other parking nearby is pay and display, with a maximum of 3 hours in one place.
Successful Wedding Reception Party! I would recommend this place to everyone! The food was amazing, full of flavour and tasty. The decoration was stunning, Staff were friendly and well organised. Throughout my planning all the event managers were really helpful anf friendly! Great people and Excellent service.
Comedy and Curry here is simply great and an absolute bargain. Food is great, and there is plenty of it. Only downside is that there isn't a great selection of different beers, but this isn't a huge issue. Recommended!

We had a walima event on the 25th of August 2013 and the event went fantastically well.
First of all leading upto the event on 25th August the service and hospitality received from Shehnai in particular Prianka and Kitty was first class. I had a lot of reservations booking with Shehnai originally as I was unsure of what I would get in return. I was seriously tempted to go ahead and book the Park Royal Venue by SAPNA Caterers. However Prianka and Kitty did a fantastic job in convincing us and made us feel real special and wanted. Very few Asian banqueting suites go out of their to listen to client requirements but Shehnai did exactly that. Everything was so professional and in detail leading upto the event you could clearly see a lot of work goes on in the background by Shehnai’s team.
The event itself was a huge success we had our booking from 7pm but on our wedding cards we put 6:30pm so that people would turn up for 7-7:30 but it was one of those days where everyone turned up at 6:30pm. Despite people arriving early no one from Shehnai panicked and let all our guests into the lobby area serving drinks. Venue opened at 7pm and the stage looked great despite a lot of hassle in trying to get what we wanted it looked superb. One thing in hindsight we would have liked an Aisle way for the entrance but with 500 people space was limited. However some tables did not get used and again in hindsight I should have requested to get these tables removed to allow for more space.
Food in particular starters was GREAT and the JELABI stand was a big hit something new and different for our family which everyone loved. The main course was good and a lot of people said it seems Shehnai has made huge improvements compared to before as food definitely tasted a lot better. The staff on the day were very friendly even though they were tired as there was function before so hats off to them.
Overall great venue – Event went very well and I would recommend Shehnai to all family & friends and also corporate clients.
Again well done to the whole team! Prianka and Kitty have done a great job in moving forward this organisation and with their hard work I'm sure they will get even better as both are very forward thinking.

If you're going to get married then do it at Shehnai. I had such a great time with the Shehnai staff organising my wedding reception. Not only did they make me feel like I was the only wedding they were working on but each conversation made me feel secure and special that my wedding requirements were being catered for. The staff are professional, very helpful and really importantly I felt that they really listened to what I envisaged my day to be... (Even when bridezilla came out in me)
I don't know who to thank more. Kitty for my random rants to her about the stress of organising 200 indians, or Priyanka for understanding that I had to discuss every detail with the family first, or Luzan for putting up with the 7000 changes daily to the wedding agenda or for Patrick aka shahrukh khan for managing my evening perfectly.
I thank you all Shehnai. I have 200 very happy guests. Not one single complaint..
The food was amazing, piping hot, full of flavour and just very flavoursome. My guest told me it was the best wedding food they had eaten.

I hosted my sister's bridal shower in the Jalsa suit and I couldn't be anymore pleased. There is nothing the team could have done to make it better. The service I received was beyond perfection. My night went smoothly. The co-ordinators of the night were first class. Jaideep provided amazing customer service and used his own initiative to make my event run smoothly. Animesh what can I say, a true blessing to have you there your hosting was absolutely memorable. Guests who attended feedback to me how helpful you were through out the night. Thank you to all the staff who worked very hard to make my sisters night truly memorable. Thank you Olympia.
A great venue! I was simply a guest and played no part in the organisation. The food was fabulous and the decor excellent. Our event was in the evening which allowed plenty of free parking in the street outside.
I had my 10th anniversaty celebration at Shehnai and I couldn't have hope for more...it was absolutely fantastic. The food was amazing...but I need to give special thanks to the amazing Event co-ordinator, Jaideep and his team. Absolutely committed, customer-oriented, very very helpful and delivers what he says he would..overall excellent experience for us.

I held an event at Shehnai on behalf of a University of Reading society and I can honestly say I was upmost pleased witht the service we were provided with. We have held the same event every year for the past 3 years and this year was certainly one of the most successful. From start to finish th staff at Shehnai made the task in hand seem so effortless and made the orgasnisaers job so simple. We were very much impressed with the professionalism and high class of the venue and how pleasant the staff were to meet our every requirement. The way in which the ballroom looked was simply beautiful and we could not have imagined our event to be anywhere else. Even on a standard day the venue just looked absolutely stunning, Shehnai offers such a wide range of services to make an event special. We werer very grateful to Prianka, the general manager for her assistance and advice in the run up to the event. However particular thanks must go to Luzen who helped us out at every step of the way and dealt with all of our queries. Many thanks must also go to Patrick and his team on the night of the event; From dealing with every single one of my queries and concerns, he was there to help and made sure this event run smoothly. Everything that we could have asked from them they managed to achieve making light work for me and all requirements for the day were upheld. The pure proof of their hard work was where despite it taking us nearly 30 minutes to leave the venue at the end of the night, the team had managed to transform the suite yet again for the next days event. The food was fantastic as expected, and with such a wide menu to choose from you the most difficult thing was what to choose. The food is of the highest quality and makes life easier keeping eveything in house. Cannot wait to hold another event in the future at Shehnai.
We held our 150th celebration ball on the 28th September and would suggest to anyone looking to hold a big event to give the Shehai a go.
The staff are easy to deal with and very efficient, the food was excellent and the venue is perfect.
Thanks guys for a great night and we will use you again for sure.
Decent sized place to have a wedding. You can park right outside for £1 if there are spaces, or there's a car park opposite the venue a few yards away.
