The pub is a hub for real ales in Reading, the split level interior has several drinking compartments, all wood panelled. The walls a ceilings are festooned with pump clips of beers served in the pub.

Just great. I was looking for a traditional English pub in Reading and The Alehouse seemed like the best option. And so it is! People were so nice, everyone, from the staff to the clients. I went by my own, and at the second that I entered in the pub I met some of the frequent clients! Just perfect
An ickle pub with big beer selection. Less of the more modern beers and more of the traditional British styles, but they do have a variety including a few weird and wonderfuls. Great place to sit in the sun and people watch out front or sit in one of the atmospheric little nooks.
I recently visited The Alehouse and had a fantastic experience! The beer selection was great, and the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. If you like your beer REAL, not fizzy, not frozen, and a huge choice from the darkest maltiest stouts, to the palest fruitiest IPA's and everything in between then this is the place for you. DON'T GO IF you are looking for: lager, cushioned seats, loud music, food. DO GO IF you want a huge selection
What a great little pub. Found it by accident and would definitely like to visit it again in the future.
It has a great selection of tap and bottled beers and the seating areas are very interesting, with some being accessed by a winding little passageway. Almost Harry Potter esque.
Fantastic pub. Great building, and a cracking beer line-up. Don't know if they do food, so can't rate it.
Good selection of well kept ales, but not very large so easily crowded unless the weather is warm enough to go outside
Naughty little boozer. Always make sure I go here when I am in Reading. Lovely staff with a great selection of Ciders.
Really enjoyed the unique interior decor, rock music. Definitely a local pub, but a friendly one. Worth a visit for the still cider.

A very pleasant real ale pub. I am happy to report I drank far too much here on Christmas Eve. Lovely beer. Good company. Nice staff. My kind of pub. Lots of wainscoting and snugs. It might be the law that CAMRA members have to drink here.
Proper old Alehouse serving up a multitude of beers. Quirky old world interior. What's not to like? Ok so the majority of the punters are middle aged men. But its all about the banter and enjoying a mobile phone free space!
Pump clips line the walls and ceiling providing a look into the recent history of the ales that have been poured at the pub. The soundtrack here is always eclectic as are the clientele. A much needed pub that provides respite from the monotony of the high street. A must visit when in town especially
