1st class pub with super 'gastro-pub' food, beer, staff and atmosphere. Lovely position on the canal-side. There's a good menu choice from either the pub kitchen or the outdoor barbecue shack. There's also an outdoor bar and loads of seating. We ate indoors and the service was great even though it was so busy.

Staff were very attentive, warm and efficient. The food was excellent! Overall had a good time. Went back recently and it is still as good as before. It can get busy so I suggest booking ahead but the food is excellent! I had the fish cakes and they are marvelous. The vegetarian pie was also very good(I forget the name) and the mushroom and miso soup was absolutely delicious. The hot waffle is mouth wateringThis is our second time and the food did not disappoint. 10/10

A delightful rural idyll, just a few miles south of the M4. Alfresco dining on the terrace or garden is a perfect place to relax with friends on a sunny day. Watch life go, as you dine, on the Kennet and Avon canal that runs beside the garden. Take a gentle walk along the towpath to burn off a few calories.

I had a pint here 24 years ago. I have since travelled the world and spent 18 years in Australia & New Zealand. High on my list as I travel the K&A on a narrowboat was to stop in for a pint again. Except this time I came with a dog that's nervous of strangers & a puppy that has only been off the boat twice. So I chose a table well away from everyone else, a drinks only table. When I told the staff about my nervous dog and puppy, and that I wanted food, it wasnt a problem. I just gave them a table number (not our table) and collected the food from there. The beer battered cod & chips was off the chart, super crispy batter and perfectly cooked fish. They even had a decent IPA on tap. The service is top notch and the effort put in by the staff is noticeable. Highly recommended by me. Not everyone is so accommodating when you come with a nervous barking dog.

The crispy beef salad was exceptional. Tender beef with diced pak choi and cashew nuts accompany each other perfectly. Perfect lunch on a summers day. Location is picturesque with good walking routes along the River Kennet.

First time coming here and was an amazing time we had for lunch! Food was delicious and the waiter was pleasant and courteous. The outside space was beautiful and very comfortable and inside was just as high quality - very lovely indeed. An amazing dog friendly pub and the staff were welcoming, portions were perfect too! Definitely will come again.
