This place has a great and fresh food, excellent service and friendly staff. Can’t go wrong with this place.
We were in the middle of Xmas shopping and needed something to pick us up to continue on. We stumbled across Bills in Reading.
We usually go to Bills in Bracknell Berkshire but thought we would try the Bills in Reading.
We managed to get seated after a 10 minute wait.
We ordered drinks and my other half ordered a Brewdog beer bottle which only had 0.5% alcohol. He couldn’t drink it as it was so weak. The waitress was kind enough to take it off our bill and instead he ordered Bills brew which was far more satisfying.
We ordered burgers and fries. The other half ordered a medium to well done beef burger. Every bite was delicious. I ordered the haloumi burger which was very tasty. The fries were not greasy at all and were lovely and crisp.
My only criticism is that the tables are not very spacious and you almost feel like your having lunch with another party as the tables are very close together.
The service was excellent and we enjoyed our meals. It’s a little pricey but you have to indulge once in a while!
Last week and all previous weeks, we have been meaning to visit Bill’s so eventually we made it. That particular night, winter had really set in so it was welcoming to be inside in a nicely heated restaurant. Upon entering, you can tell a lot of thought has been put into the layout and decoration which I found to be a cross between a barn and a living room with decorative items that you can purchase. For example: wines, pickles, bread sticks, cook books, etc.
One of the cutest little restaurants in the town centre. The decor is rustic and bohemian, and they are well-known for their breakfast items.
They have limited vegetarian options, so I decided to try the macaroni which was surprisingly really good. It was fresh, hot and the sauce added the 'kick' it required. Service is great and the staff are pretty friendly too! 🤗
We came here to try the £5 bottomless pancakes deal for brunch and were very impressed. The service was very fast and friendly. The food was absolutely delicious too. We would definitely recommend and will come again!
Good food but service was a bit unfriendly I would say. The food was excellent with good space inside. The waitress struggled to smile (hence earlier comment) which was a shame as the food was served relatively quickly and was really nice. I will go back and hopefully bigger smiles await! Worth a look though
Delicious food, great service, and fabulous atmosphere. There is always a table for us and the staff are always helpful and friendly. I love the linguine particularly, and the Caesar Salad is delicious and refreshing. My partner and I usually get the large calamari to share with the white sauce and find that as a starter it fills us up perfectly.
As you can tell from my food rating, this place doesn't have the best food. It's plated nicely, and the food looks right. But I had a chance to taste their steak, calamari, fish+potato something, duck spring rolls. Let me break it down for you. The steak was rubbery, and it wasn't an accident because a third of our company party said the same thing. The calamari was fried in old oil and looked dark and tasted greasy. The fish/potato concoction was bland. I believe it was a salmon dish but you'd be hard pressed to find any pink fish in it. It mainly tasted like a watery mashed potato. The duck spring rolls were something interesting, it had an 80's Diet Coke with saccharin aftertaste in the sauce the duck was cooked in. Almost as if the kitchen ran out of sugar and just used whatever artificial sweetener they had thinking nobody would notice the difference. Well, I did. So food - meh.
On the other hand, the place is so pretty! They have an upstairs seating area that can easily host 30 hungry diners. The booths downstairs look so gorgeous and out of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. The wait staff was polite, friendly, helpful and prompt. They even climbed up on a bar to take a group photo of us twice. That alone made me give it a 4 star rating.
But yeah, fire the chef!
First time in Reading branch of Bill's. Normally go to the WestFields branch.
Got there just before lunch time rush. Which had queues outside the door.
Was told by the seater that dining time was 1.15 or 1.45 mins, can't remember which one. But that suited us fine, as we only popped in on a whim for breakfast.
Amazing building, which the interior designer has used to their advantage. On top of the usual Bill's USP of decor.
Visually looks like a big portion, but just the right amount to taste everything that makes it a full breakfast. Although pancakes & chicken was sizeble. Willing to change out fried eggs to poached & scrabbled.
Servers polite & attentive.
Approx £50 for 3 for breakfast.
Last year was the last time I went into Bill's restaurant here in Reading. They do some really nice food like burgers in their meat & vegan ones.
We had lunch today at Bill’s and oh how Ive missed having this restaurant in my town! The food was great, the service was excellent and just the whole experience was really positive! We all came out of the restaurant with nothing but praise! Also we Must give credit to the staff on how serious they took allergies - yes it did reduce menu choices for one person but the fact that someone in Bill’s instilled this sense of responsibility for their customers, we were really impressed! Many eateries could take an example from the staff at this Bill’s! So well done! Keep this up and we are already planning our breakfast meeting there! 😄
Great food, service, and atmosphere 👌 The decir is absolutely beautiful too 😀
Their breakfast is amazing. Nice big menu, amazing selection of coffee and smoothies. Kids have a separate menu and is quite cheap tbh. Overall amazing food, polite staff and buzzing atmosphere. Is quite busy during breakfast so booking is recommended, though the staff is quite accommodating and try to fit in every one that comes through the elaborate doors.
Visited this place for the first time today for my daughter’s birthday. We had an amazing breakfast here. I’ve cross this place so many times but I thought that this is a pub and never realised that they also saw one of the best breakfasts in Reading. The street parking has been closed today and therefore we parked at the Oracle and walked from there. Otherwise there’s plenty of street parking around on the Hozier Street as well as on the main road. The staff is very courteous and the service is very quick. Food is outstandingly delicious! Next time I’m going to try lunch here and I see that they have an amazing bar so I have to try beer as well.
The services are very good. And the food is delicious with good presentation.
Lovely brunch options at reasonable prices. Comfortable outside seating. Indoors seems a little hectic on a Saturday morning.
Stopped in for some brunch , and I always ask myself why I don’t come here more ! Poached eggs on avocado sourdough , and a full English ! Fast service and friendly staff . Just what you need for a working brunch .
Never really fancied Bills but tried it last night and it was excellent. Really nice food, nice staff and lovely decor.
We will definitely return and recommend.
The only slight hitch was that the menu dinner options were a little limited.
A+ otherwise.
Bills is a regular haunt and good every time. I prefer to sit outside when weather permits. Fresh varied menu and great cocktails. Perfect lunch stop. Love the halloumi dishes and the salads also the sweet potato fries. Non alcoholic cocktails are a treat and just as special as the regular ones.
I've never had a bad experience in Bill's, particularly in Reading. It's such a lovely, historic building and the food always feels fine dining but affordable without the pretentiousness.
I have avoided this place since they took the fish finger sandwich off the menu. However today I had breakfast and the pancakes were just amazing. Everything was fresh and delicious
The waitress was attentive and polite but gets minus a few points asking me how the food was after two minutes I had got the plate. Please don’t be offended waitress but It felt overkill. However when she smiled I smiled which is a good thing !
The maitre d, what can I say hot hot hot! Not only good in the looks department but caring and attentive and interacted with other customers !!!
Yep now I have a reason to return … for the pancakes 😂
Just walked in for breakfast, both Saturday and Sunday, managed to get a table outside. Very nice poached eggs for breakfast, classical Benedict (w/Wiltshire ham), Royal (w/smoked salmon) and Avocado. "Optional" service fee is added without asking, guess we're moving towards US model.
