What a great place!!! Reading’s, not so hidden, best kept secret. I was taken here as a birthday treat by my girlfriend and discovered a beautifully crafted venue centred around the old Victorian open air swimming pool which has been fully refurbished and improved. The whole place has been beautifully decorated and is extremely stylish. We went in the evening for a meal. I didn’t know what to expect or, when it came to it, what to order. So we decided to opt for the bird-food menu, which is a taster menu of five courses of whatever is best that night. The quality and variety of food was simply fantastic and I have to be honest I thought being a taster menu the portions would be tiny...they weren’t. The food was so good to look at that my partner was photographing them and putting them out on social media, with someone from the Lido commenting whenever she did...I loved that personal touch, just brilliant! All the food was well cooked, beautifully presented and fully explained by the waiting staff. The fish stew was simply divine and stole the show for me!
All of the staff were fantastic, making us feel very welcome and were very knowledgeable of their venue and their menu. They are all a credit to the place and deserve a big thank because they helped to make our night a very special one!!!
All in all a great experience and one which we will be repeating, hopefully regularly.

My friend and I went here last week using the spring package offer which was an absolute bargain. We were extremely fortunate that the sun was also shining for us that day and honestly, it felt like you were stepping into a little piece of Spain. The tapas were lovely, the drinks were spot on and the atmosphere was so chilled. Just what we needed. The absolute best bit was the massage I had a an excellent pregnancy back and leg massage (which was included in the deal).. wow! Laying there with the window ajar, hearing the ‘waves’ of the pool lapping over the edge with the Spanish guitar spa music playing. I really felt like I was on holiday. Absolute bliss and what a great deal! I couldn’t recommend this place enough. Thanks Thames Lido! X
This is a nice place for a different kind of lunch. The food is quite fancy, but the whole feel very friendly and relaxed. I was bought a swim and lunch voucher, but decided to just take the lunch. This included two courses, and we opted for main and pudding. Very limited vegetarian options and the one main didn't hit the spot for me, but my friend had the seafood dish, which she said was delicious.
Unique experience - especially for Reading! A restored women's bathing house. I did the swim and dine package as I was in town for work meetings. Lovely warm, outdoor pool swim and hot tub that I enjoyed in the rain. There is also a sauna and steam room. Beautiful smelling soap in the showers, gender neutral/private shower stalls, and hairdryers available. And very delicious food afterwards! A nice treat for yourself and would make an amazing date. As a guest, book in advance online.
We weren't sure what to expect... but what a fabulous experience! The food was excellent, we had great service, and the atmosphere was so fun! The bocarones were absolutely delicious -- a must-try.
I went with three friends on a Sunday afternoon in July and had a fab time - the restoration has been done so brilliantly! The staff were super friendly, the pool area very clean and the food was absolutely delicious, I'll definitely go back!
We did the Swim & Lunch package and thought it was fantastic value.
Bear in mind the changing rooms are individual with showers in, so obviously quite wet so bring flip flops. There is a 'Boudoir Room' for getting ready once you're dry (with hairdryers) which we loved.
My only negatives were the the fact you have to pay £6 to park beyond the free 3 hours and that you have to pay £5 to rent a robe even when on a package deal.
This Lido is a complete vibe. Expensive but a vibe. We got a package deal of swimming and lunch and it was amazing. The swimming pool is a bit cold but nice to do some length, the sauna is fantastic and the steam room is great. Changing rooms are good, a bit wet but good and the service at reception are great but due to the amount of people at the restaurant the service was a bit slow with food. When the food did come omg fantastic.
Lovely afternoon swimming and using the steam room and sauna followed with a glass of cava with fresh flat breads and dips plus tea and cakes.
Just a shame that we stayed 5 minutes over the 3 hour's free parking and had to pay £6.
We came to swim as visitors rather than to eat, through clearly eating and drinking is a big thing as there were lots of people from the bar area milling around.
We loved swimming here and politely had all of the facilities pointed out to us when we arrived. There’s outdoor and indoor changing, a lovely 25m pool which is gently heated (it feels cold when you get in but soon warms up). They say it’s only gently chlorinated and it felt like it - the water was lovely. Although we didn’t go into the steam room, we went between the pool and the sauna, both of which were a pleasure to use and neither felt too busy at any point. The (deliberately) cold showers and bucket available after coming out of the sauna were screamingly cold!
We had two hours so after some swimming sat next to the pool and had a coffee and a beer, which again was lovely.
The whole place has a lovely vibe: friendly, welcoming and everything ‘just right’. I came out feeling as light as a feather and would certainly return - what a treat.
The spa itself is great. Lovely pool, hot tub and facilities. Staff are super friendly.
The only annoyance is the restaurant menu. The menu is great for choices for veggies, vegans, gluten free etc and even the standard choices are a bit out there. Good selection of drinks, poor to be charging for milk alternatives though when many people have allergies.
On the whole, would recommend
We did the swim-spa-tapas package. The package was great value for money. My sister and I are notoriously hard to please, we enjoy things..... with a "but". And we had no "buts" on Tuesday.
When we came out of the massage, we both said how we usually always say we like a firm massage and worried with how light this one was, within minutes it was the best massage we'd ever had and we'd never felt so relaxed. I had Carolina and she was so lovely.
The tapas was really filling and so nice.
They show the before and after shots- and it is an amazing refurbishment
We will be back again
Spent our 25th wedding anniversary at the spa with a massage and lunch package. The lido is renovated sympathetically and the pool, hot tub and sauna are all well designed. We had great relaxing massages and a tapas lunch. The staff were friendly and helpful. 10/10.
