The second excursion was in a weird village...Ravenscar, the town that never was. Around the 19th–20th century, plans were made to turn the village into a holiday resort. Roads were laid out, some houses were built and sewers were laid. Ravenscar never achieved popularity and the development was left unfinished mainly due to the long trek to reach the rocky beach. The railway was closed also in 1965 so now the place look a bit deserted near the old railway station, apart from a little Tea Room. This place was totally old fashioned, plastic tablecloths on table & old frames on the wall, it was also miles away from everything...but guess what? It was packed. We had to wait to get a table as this place is a pitstop for walking and cycling enthusiasts who goes along the old railway.
I loved that place, it was old school, people who worked there were all nice and authentic, such a massive difference with some of pretentious afternoon place in London.
I had a Victoria sponge cake which wa
Lovely walk on the cliffs with views of Robin Hoods Bay, finished off with great food and good size coffee, friendly service with nice surroundings,
Very nice. Arrived too late to eat, but they made me a lovely coffee
We love it here, the service is lovely and the food is excellent. We come to this area every year at this time n we always make a point of coming for lunch or breakfast, this year we've done both. The tea rooms are in an amazing position next to the cinder track and the Cleveland way. The tea rooms are dog friendly, the dogs always get a biscuit (if allowed). It is a very lovely place to visit and eat at! Highly recommend 😊
An excellent break at Ravenscar Tearooms - hot chocolate & latte with homemade cheese scone & Bakewell slice. Happy, friendly service along with several obvious regulars. Scone exceptional: light, fluffy & very cheese!
Nice sandwiches and lovely cakes in a pleasant environment.
What a great place! Amazing sea views and handy for the Cinder Track and Cleveland Way. Also on the No 11 bus route. Great Coffee and a delicious Cheese Scone enjoyed on a bike ride to Whitby. Highly recommended!
Did the Hayburn Wyke to Ravenscar and back again. Stopped at Ravenscar Tearoom for refreshments, which we really nice. Would recommend it. Service was friendly.
