Ate here with friends when staying in Ravenglass.
A good selection of drinks at the bar, whilst the food menu is relatively small, but hits all the pub classics. There is also a specials board which adds a few items to the menu. As we had a long walk, I went for the cheeseburger and chips - delicious! Whilst a friend had the pie of the day - honestly I had food envy. For dessert I went for the sticky Toffee pudding and my request for "as much custard as possible" was granted (see my photo) whilst another friend had the cinder and ashes sundae.
Prices were very reasonable with great service and staff.
Dog friendly!
Thank you Jackie for taking our last minute request to book a table for lunch at 1215pm on new year's eve. Our trip was very last minute, and to be able to get an immediate booking was fantastic. Our train from Lancaster arrived just after midday and we were sat at our window table straight away. Fabulous service and our lunch food was lovely, generous portions, and quality was outstanding. Turkey brie and cranberry baguette and the Christmas turkey stuffing etc baguette were delicious. And we really didn't need the chips but they were lovely too. Highly recommended before and/or after a trip to the steam train. Can't wait to return again in spring/summer.
Love this pub! The staff are so friendly, even with staff shortages. They are full of humour & make sure customers are happy. Dog friendly. The inside eating area overlooks the train station platforms, so you can watch the trains go by. The food is tasty, big portions that are value for money. The steak pie is packed with meat, it's so nice! Plenty of outdoor seating. I would advise booking 24 hrs in advance. It's home cooked food, so it can take a bit longer to cook. 1000% worth it. Can't wait to visit on our next holiday πππ
Fantastic place! Would highly recommend! Great food and very generous portion sizes. I was stuffed afterwards lol. We bought two main meals, two drinks and one dessert and the bill came to just over Β£40, so very reasonable and great value for money. I highly recommend the "Cinders and Ashes" dessert ππ. All the staff provided excellent service and were very friendly.
We were visiting the area and decided to try the Ratty Arms for an evening meal. I was looking for a light meal so chose the tuna mayonnaise salad. I couldn't.believe my eyes when it was served, it was huge and a fabulous range of food. Staff were really friendly and the setting islovely
Booked this for the first time for my birthday, the reviews looked good so we thought we would give it a try. Long story short, we canβt wait to get back there! Food and service was beyond amazing! Very welcoming and cosy. Very family friendly with a really great kids menu. Our party aged from 2 years to 78 years and we all loved it!
Fun place. Lots of menu items and reasonable prices. Ambiance and decor was very nice, server was friendly and efficient. Food was delivered in a reasonable time frame and was plentiful and hearty even by American standards where every portion could feed an army (way too much)!! Enjoyed all the Halloween decoration including the witch that welcomed you at the door by detecting motion and speaking! Funny!
Excellent pub with great food, friendly staff and excellent location, right next to the railway station. We popped in for a quick coffee on our way back from a hike and after looking at the menu and seeing some of the food served, we knew we wanted to come back for dinner. Managed to book a table for the following day and we're really glad we did. Food was amazing, good size portions, bursting with flavour (especially the mixed seafood salad) and arrived in good time despite that they were busy. We are quite fussy but really couldn't fault it. Thank you!
P.s. best to book as pub was quite busy.
Stopped by the Ratty Arms while passing through in the Lake District, having a mochaccino and a slice of carrot cake (they were running a special deal for coffee and cake for Β£4.95). Both were really nice. π° The staff are also very welcoming and friendly (dog friendly too!)
It was a 40 minute wait but OMG the food was amazing so worth the wait. The pub was packed & we can fully understand why, it was buzzing with lovely happy people, the owners very friendly & welcoming even gave our 3 dogs a treat, well worth a visit, but would recommend booking as it's really popular. Bellies very full. Thank u The Ratty arms, Ravenglass (very dog friendly} ππ
We spoke with a lovely gentleman called Roger who talked highly of Ravenglass & we can understand why now we experience it ourselves ππ
We popped in for an evening meal without a booking and there were thankfully a couple of tables unreserved. Lovely old pub with decent British grub. Staff were really welcoming and friendly, especially the lady who made my kids smile and brought them colouring books and crayons. Thanks for a lovely evening.
Excellent place for lunch after riding the Lil Ratty. Food spot on. Good selection of ales. Staff welcoming
Stopped for a half and a coffee. Shame they weren't doing food in the week. Always a lovely welcome and a great selection of ales. Would highly recommend
Cosy, traditional pub right next to the Ravenglass train station with a real fire place and lots of room. The food is fantastic and the beer just as good from Bitter, Lager, Ales and Ciders. There is a huge selection of whisky to try and get through as well. It's a family friendly pub and a really relaxed atmosphere. There is a car park as well and well worth popping in or staying for the afternoon/evening and getting the train home.
8th-10th June 2023: back again [photo update]
Been coming to Eskdale/Ravenglass for many years. Great pub, good food and small selection of real ales. Located just outside of Ravenglass Station. A great first stop before heading into the village of Ravenglass for a mooch round.
23rd-25th May 2022: having been coming to the village of Boot in Eskdale since 2004, we have frequented Ravenglass (via La'al Ratty on the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway) many times. The Ratty Arms review remains unchanged, as it's selection of real ales remains good, along with service, cleanliness, dog friendly and location to the railway. Thanks to the older chap in the back that gave Archie our Golden Retriever a treat. A friend of Archies, is a friend of ours. We are yet to sample food, so maybe next time! Only a photo of the 3 of us on the railway this year, and next time we come back, we will be Mr & Mrs!
Good quality wholesome food with good size portions. Good menu to choose from but make sure you check out the specials too. We both enjoyed the food and were served quickly. We wouldβve definitely come again if we were in the area. One piece of advice - book your table!
Very nice pub with delicious food and outside seating. The staff was very friendly!
A cosy little pub right beside Ravenglass station.
A great place to grab a drink and a bite to eat before heading off on your next adventure.
Roaring fire in the stove was most welcome too!
Simple quality food, in a friendly relaxed atmosphere, with photos of historical trains and views of the railway, the service was good , all very enjoyable, thank you!
