Lovely pub with nice friendly staff. The food was delicious, very reasonably priced and there wasn't much of a wait for it. There are a few pubs around the area that could learn a lesson or two here.
If you have never been before, do yourself a favour, visit the Black Horse and put some lovely/tasty grub in your belly!

Our waitress was Jacky, who was fab, I felt like she cudnt do enough for us, I no how demanding restaurant work is but nothing was an issue for Jacky, thank u again.

We have been looking forward to visiting The Black Horse after it’s latest refurb and wasn’t disappointed, the new decor was beautiful and the food definitely didn’t disappoint. We went along with the family and we all had such a lovely evening. I started off with the prawn and chorizo starter which was perfectly spiced and got the taste buds tingling, I then went for fish and chips which was just amazing, the fish was perfectly cooked with a light crispy batter. I wasn’t going to have a dessert, but I couldn’t resist the chocolate fudge brownie. It was filled with minstrels and chunks of galaxy, each bite had an extra surprise, just perfect for any chocolate lover, my husband was a dessert but was too full so the waitress kindly offered him a take out! Thank you to the amazing staff, especially our waitress Heather who made sure that everything was perfect. The singer added an extra special touch to the evening too, she was great! We hope to be back there again soon. X

The menu is a typical pub menu and by the time we got there say, 7.30pm there wasn't much left to order. So i had to settle for the mega mixed grill.....not just the mixed grill, but the mega! (Eyes and belly spring to mind)
Everything was cooked to perfection. The steak was what I asked for Medium. Yes I forgot to take a photo before devouring it.
Needless to say, I couldn't finish the mega mixed grill and nonropm for pudding...gutted!
The hot chocolate drink we had was really creamy. For scampi and chips, a mega mixed grill and 2 hot chocolates came to about £17.
Went the same evening as the Rainhill Beer Festival 2023 and was expecting it to be chocker, but much to my surprise it wasn't. But it had just reopened after a refit and maybe people yet know. Anyway, ordered online using the qr code on table 37. At the end of the order it didn't say completed or anything so I went to the bar and the guy had already finished pulling our drinks. Super speedy. Then the food appeared in about 10 minutes maybe 15, starters then 5 minutes if that the mains turned up. Never ate my food so quickly. And it was super tasty. Well impressed. Long may it continue.

The chicken fajitas on a sizzling skillet were delicious served with large wraps and all the salsa,sour cream, guacamole etc didn't disappoint 😋 my partners surf and turf was also enjoyed - we'll be back 😀
We haven't been for a good number of years when our kids where young. When we came the pub looks amazing and so different since we last come. The staff were absolutely lovely and courteous. When we ordered we want waiting a long time. And the food was presented really well. The food also tasted amazing full of flavour and we've been to other place over the years and portions were quite small for what we paid but these portions were generous and well worth the money we paid. And there is a lot of choice on the menu. We would definitely come back. In fact my husband birthday is coming up so I will be bringing the family.
Eat out quite a lot and many places these days feel the same. Food here though was pleasantly different especially the sizzling dishes. Very friendly service and nice decor
Apsolutely spot on. I got mixed grill, everything on the plate was cooked to perfection. My hubby had triple cooked chips x3, gammon steak and mushy peas, also cooked perfect. Quick service, wide variety choice of food on the menu, great price. Definitely recommend to everyone. This is the best place we have been by far. Lovely decor too. Just FAB

Came as a group of 4 on a quiet Friday evening for food. The menu selection was fantastic and the food arrived promptly. Service was great. Desserts were amazing. Can't wait to come back.
Service was friendly and very helpful. Food was excellent arrived piping hot and well presented. Areas were well presented and clean. All the staff greeted you with a smile. I will defiantly be returning for a meal.
Had my daughter’s baby shower here today! Wow it was so lovely! Buffet was excellent everyone enjoyed seconds and when we left the table was bare! Lovely function room and we were allowed to bring our own decorations and cakes. Highly recommended AND the staff were as always totally amazing. Thanks to one and all for making the day so wonderful.
First I would like to say, we go quite often to the black horse, the staff are lovely very helpful, food is nice, Went 2 weeks ago…..Had the Fish & Chips, absolutely gorgeous, batter was light and crispy, went last week, got the same, the batter on the fish was awful it was like a doughy texture not crispy, got one of the girls to return it, she couldn’t apologise enough, ( it’s not her fault )would you like another one, yes please, that one came it was a little bit better, I will try it one more time, and if it’s doughy, I will not order it again.

Meals are ordered from the bar....no waitress service. The food we got was excellent, so tasty....and not small portions. A place me and my daughter will go again.
I had my baby shower here recently in the function room and honestly cannot thank the staff enough for everything they did. We were greeted at the door, offered drinks and assistance with setting up. Nothing was too much trouble for anyone. Great food and a lovely vibe in the pub. I’m so grateful you helped me to have a lovely baby shower!
We booked a table for 12 today, we was accommodated well, and the service was great by josh. The food was really good none of us had any complaints, the staff were all friendly and we all had a good time. Thank you, and we will be coming back again.
