Eventually got to eat at The Smithy and was not disappointed. The staff were friendly , service quick and reasonably priced. I had baked potato with coronation chicken....absolutely gorgeous and so much chicken , also a small side salad and lovely creamy coleslaw. Will definitely be back.

This is a fabulous little place and the staff are outstanding. We stopped here on way to a rugby game and the staff rescued the day with a cup of boiling hot water to mould an emergency gum shield. Smithy to the rescue thanks so much for the above and beyond help. PS even Gita try that day

What a lovely visit we had at The Smithy. Gorgeous soup but was it pea and ham or split yellow pea and smoked bacon? . The banter was great and so was the delicious mini scone and croutons accompanying the soup. We followed on with a Viennese whirl that was the best we've tasted. Only regret for us is that we live so far away. Made our day xx

Liz is an amazing lady that always goes over and above for her customers. Being from Arran we often arrive / depart at strange times and she is more than happy to open the shop early or close later when we've asked if its possible. The cheeriest warmest welcome you won't find anywhere else and her knowledge is amazing!! Thank you Liz your place is amazing!! xxx

Called in for a quick coffee and cake while passing in the camper. Plenty of parking available. Delicious coffee and cakes as well even 1 vegan cake option. Service was prompt, staff are all lovely. Although it was nice to get vegan cake there was only 1 choice out of 29 different cakes and biscuits on offer. Slices of cake did seem to be on the small side in comparison to the others, however it was very nice and I would go back again. Lovely place

Delicious soup to start off with followed by the sandwiches, huge scones and strawberry tarts. Rocky Roads and coconut sponge cake rounded off the afternoon tea. I had a cappuccino and husband had a pot of tea which got refilled. Fast, friendly service with tasty food ...we couldn't eat it all and took the rest home for dinner!

Great food, accommodating staff and handy off the main roads location. Toilets in a separate annex are not ideal (quite cold, not massivelywelcoming). Almost lost a star this for me.....but the below more than made it up 👍 We had lovely drinks to kick off with - hot chocolates were divine and looked incredible; the Latte coffee tasted superb (and a nice big mug of it too) 😋 My fish and chips was lovely and fresh, the burger was as substantial as it was tasty (home made burger patty). The cheese & ham sandwich was lovely too. A naughty massive bowl of dirty chips with cajun chicken and jalapeños topped off the feast ! If your a cake / sweet treat fan your going to be well catered for too..... Enjoy !

Lovely cafe. Dropped in for a spot of lunch and really pleased that it is dog friendly. The food was great, though a slightly limited menu choice, and lovely staff. Nicely decorated and a great place to stop, the cakes are also fantastic, so grab one to go if you don't have time to eat one in.

Overall a lovely little stop off. With a BOUNS feature. Unfortunately I felt a bit forgotten after been seated, to the point I didn't know if I was to order at the till or be be served. The food was lovely and the cakes were also delicious. The atmosphere was nice, I was able to have a conversation with my partner. The area was very clean inside, and offer a lovely little sitting area outside. BOUNS FEATURE If you enjoy flying, or more so planes you'll see plenty flying over head and low enough to wave to the pilot as they come into land nearby. Great please to take the kids.

Found this place as I drove to Ayr and on the way back we got some coffee and cake - and was really very surprised the coffee was strong, smooth and tasty. Fast forward a few weeks I was back to sit in for more coffee and cake but was very busy. Due to covid the tables are very spaced out so less capacity. But was recommended to book through Facebook - which I did. I decided to go for the very photogenic afternoon tea at £15pp. I've had afternoon and high tea quite a few times - fanciest being at the Grosvenor at the Hilton. If this place was next door I'd say it was definitely expected for the qualify of food, display and service. However, remember this place is next to an airport and motorway which just exceeds the expectations. Inside it sets the scene of quaint and bling in perfect quantities for decor. And the staff are lovely and treat you like a local immediately making you feel like home. The afternoon tea itself is perfect - plenty of sandwiches, lots of little tastes of cake and the creme de la creme - a perfectly made cream and jam scone. I am not a light eater and neither is my partner and I was struggling to finish. But no worry, you have everything boxed up if you fancy a cake with your lockdown tea. Also side note for those worried about keeping safe like me (12 days after a lung operation when I went for afternoon tea) They definitely take contact details, and at one point we were all temp checked and the staff all wear masks and hand gel frequently. We were there for almost 1.5 hours. If I could give more stars I would. Can't wait to be back.

Was in today for the first time ( 3-7-23) for an afternoon tea with my wife. What can I say, staff were very attentive and the food was delicious. So much so we took about half of it home, which according to the young waitress was very common. Will definitely be back to try some of the other things from the menu.

A great find for breakfast/brunch. Not only was the food amazing but the service was prompt and very friendly. We were visiting from Arizona USA and much appreciated the conversation and interest. The two adorable ladies running the bakery were wonderful. We also took several delicious treats to go. We ordered a breakfast sandwich, Scottish breakfast ( including Hagas) 1st time eating, and biscoff pancakes. The tea and hot cocoa were delicious too!

Must confess I have driven past the Smithy dozens of times and never stopped. That was a mistake. While the menu isn't huge the quality is excellent. There is also a specials board if you want something a bit different. Great selection of cakes etc which only by a feat of discipline I managed to avoid( but maybe next time). There is also a small gift counter with a good selection of items that may be attractive leading up to Christmas. Great parking, friendly and attentive servers. Would recommend
