A no-frills restaurant but excellent food and great service. Best Indian meal I’ve had for a good while. Top notch. We’ll be back.

Haven't visited this restaurant for many years but really enjoyed it. The staff are really friendly the food was delicious and the surroundings lovely although the steps to the toilet were a bit steep😀!! When we asked for the bill we all got a shot of sambuca on the house which was a really nice touch. Definitely go back again.

Worth a visit. The food was good, though only lager to drink. Some noise outside but minimal impact with us. Good price. S

Well tucked away on Frisrgate, Preston. Nothing to write home about with regards to the decor, but still very clean. As for the food, well worth the effort to find the place. The food was excellent, I had one of the Pele Pele dishes, hot but not to vindaloo strength, but still left you wanting to cool your mouth down.

Super food and really nice staff. They were very happy to make the dishes at a different strength for some of us who wanted hot dishes done milder. Thank you.

Whilst it looks a little tired, the smell of food was lovely as we walked in and greeted with a nice welcoming smile. Three courses for £10 was a total bargain. Food was all hot and freshly cooked. Lovely flavours. I had shahi lamb and rice main. Shrek kebab for starter. Popadoms and chukney too. Perfect after a long train trip.

The Shahzaad is our favourite Indian restaurant in the city of Preston. Located centrally on Friargate, close to some of the city's best pubs, the restaurant offers top quality food with some interesting options available. It should be pointed out that The Shahzaad offers more of a casual dining experience than fine dining and the decor and ambience of the restaurant reflects this. However the restaurant is very clean, comfortable and always warm during the winter months-perhaps too warm some times so avoid sitting too close to the radiators if you get warm easily. The staff are very friendly and the owner is usually on hand to look after customers and talk them through the option available on the menu. The restaurant offers Becks Vier on draught as well as cider and bottled lager in addition to a full range of spirits and wines. The toilet facilities are on the first floor and you have to navigate very steep stairs so be careful especially if you have had a few beers! After many visits there has only been one occasion where the order was taken incorrectly for one of our group that we were dining with but a replacement meal was offered-other than on this occasion the service has always been quick and efficient with an appropriate amount of time allowed between courses. Sometimes when visiting late on a Friday/Saturday night some the restaurant can attract guests and the management always try to sit people appropriately and deal with any customers that may get too loud but I hope that the management continue to keep the restaurant at a standard that doesn't put off folk from avoiding dining there later in the evenings! As well as welcoming new customers regular guests are well looked after with a basket of poppadoms and an amazing pickle tray usually whisked to the table before you can sit down! Of particular interest is the unusual garlic/chilli sauce which is home made daily but be warned-while very tasty it is extremely hot! A range of starters are available if you are hungry and the main meals are of an excellent standard. The Pele Pele curry is particularly unusual and is a hot but tasty curry which is recommended-rice/naan bread portions are a little on the small side. The prices are also very reasonable with £ 25 been the average for starters, main courses with 3 sides and beers as an example price for 2 people dining together. Overall an excellent Indian restaurant worth visiting for good value, traditional food.
