During a one night stop in Portsmouth we decided to go for an Indian meal and Google threw up this name as the best Indian restaurant in town(& within walking distance of our flat). Being a Friday night we made a booking a few hours in advance - it is recommended since it is a very popular place. We were greeted at the door with a smile and seated immediately. The downside was that we had to choose a selection from the mouthwatering dishes. In the end we got 4 starters and 2 mains which were very good and presented in no time. To make things even more pleasant we came across a waiter who spent nearly 3 years in Malta. It was a great meal and highly recommend especially through this very pleasant server

My wife and I visited Desi for the first time this evening and were immediately impressed. The staff were welcoming and attentive, and the food outstanding. My wife is coeliac however the waiter was very helpful and accommodating to her dietary requirements. The decor gives a tropical Brasserie atmosphere and makes you feel like you’re worlds away from Southsea. We would definitely recommend for a true authentic Indian dining experience and look forward to returning soon.

A good Indian restaurant. The food was superb, a good menu to choose from. I can personally recommend the railway lamb cooked to perfection. Menu choices can be made spicier from mild to hot if you like. Once you have a choice from the menu, then order at the bar. Some reviews have stated that the portions were small, far from it the portions were just right. The service was excellent. Highly recommended

One of the best restaurants in Portsmouth! Having lived in India, this place is seriously good, traditional, home cooked food. The railway lamb and sev puri are particularly incredible

Authentic food at its best. The Sev Pur menu description is not wrong “a thrilling burst of ecstasy”. Food is spicy but very enjoyable. Can’t wait to visit against.

Food is on par with top London restaurants, I'm not kidding! Must try if your visiting Portsmouth. Only a few low points in my opinion; chicken was a little rubbery (frozen) and the toilets are small. Doesn't reduce the 5* rating as there are 98 high points. We will be visiting again soon 😊

Beautiful little restaurant. About 12 tables or so but very welcoming. Staff are very attentive and the food is delicious. We thought the prices were very reasonable and portions were generous. Lovely atmosphere and great decor. Very similar to Dishoom! If only they did breakfast!

The best Indian restaurant in Portsmouth! In my opinion it’s the most authentic to Indian home cooked food, every dish is so tasty and never disappoints. The service is 5 stars and everyone is so friendly. My personal favourites are the Kerala Fish and Sev Puri. Thank you Desi for another wonderful evening!
