Yea so this lives up to the hype.
We had heard from lots of our friends that this restaurant wasn't to be missed but hadn't managed to organise an evening to visit. It was well worth it and we should have visited sooner.
The restaurant has great vibes; good music, busy and welcoming staff. The colleagues that served us were friendly and well informed of the restaurants offerings. We had a recommended amount of food to order which of course we ignored because there were so many dishes we fancied ordering!
Between two of us we have three nibbles (starters) which were very well presented and tasty. We opted for the manchego, katsu bites and garlic quesadillas. All of these dishes were fantastic.
For mains we ordered a bit more, in hindsight maybe too much. Each dish, again, was very well presented and tasty. Our favourite main were the ribs, patatas bravas and tomato salad.
All of our dishes were washed down by some well made cocktails. We had a great night and will definitely return, this restaurant was a hidden gem to us.
Popped in on a Friday night with the hope they could accommodate a couple wanting a drink. I wouldn't have been surprised if was a no but as always very accommodating and helpful service from the staff who cleared a table for us. Great drinks and great atmosphere. Highly recommended
Off the charts - I would give more stars if I could; best tapas and cocktails - simply bursting with flavour! Beautifully presented, so tasty and filling. We are tapas enthusiasts, and this was very special! Portsmouth - you are lucky to have such a unique and wonderful restaurant like Maya!!
There is only one word I can use to describe the food, and that is outstanding. In my opinion, this is the best restaurant in Southsea. Offering a great menu to choose from. A bit like tapas, it serves multiple dishes, which includes meat, fish, and vegetables. I can recommend the corn on the cob dish it was really delicious. The restaurant is busy so booking a table is recommended. Service was excellent and friendly. Highly recommended
Wow! Went for my Birthday and, well, wow! The food is amazing, we savoured every bite and didn't want it to end. Thoroughly recommend it!
Amazing place . Can't wait to go back. Friendly staff and great food
Beautiful food. Lovely service . Definitely be back! Bit quiet when we went. But was early tue evening.
Very good food. Staff friendly. Wonderful Atmosphere. Quick Service. Would recommend. The only thing I would say is if you're feeling hungry you may want to order two mains!
The only reason I've given this review 4 stars is because of the slow drinks service. Everything else; amazing! The food is so good, me and my partner were questioning why we had never been until now. Desserts were a bit lacklustre and not as well presented as the mains but honestly, I didn't mind as the mains were so good. I would have rather had more mains than dessert (but there's always next time).
The cocktails were delicious, some of the best I've had in Portsmouth. And the Margaritas were some of the best I've tasted. I'm no tequila fan, but I will make an exception for Maya's Tommy Margarita.
It's just a shame as the drinks service was so slow... I'm talking almost 20 minutes for 3 cocktails.
We will definitely be back, it really was great food and drinks!
The only bad thing I can say about Maya is that we couldn't finish everything as we ordered too much....despite being given a guide of how much to order. Delicious doesn't do their food any justice, it was beyond delicious. Cocktails were gorgeous and staff were so lovely. We sat downstairs and as we were the first to be seated there for the evening it felt so intimate. Awesome restaurant for sharing food, downstairs seating felt like you were away somewhere far away. Definitely going there again
