I was pleasantly surprised by this place.
The location is idyllic and the building itself is spacious and laid out nicely with some nice views.
I found the food ordered to be quite good and certainly above a standard chain pub level of quality.
Staff were friendly, I have nothing but positive thin
Had gammon steak very nice was puzzled why i was charged 99p for changing chunky fries to sweet potato fries when they were both £3.99 as extras on the menu! Glass red wine 'jam shed'. Two others had fish and chips which was enormous £13.99.
Nice friendly pub with great views over Portsmouth and the South Downs. On a clear day you will be able to see the Isle of wight in the distance. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Didn't eat but the food did look good. Will be back again soon.
The best place to go after a dog walk over the hill! The food was great and the service even better. Its warm, cosy and welcoming-in the summer the beer garden has the BEST views in Portsmouth. I love coming here and so does my dog...they spoil him every time.
We dropped in for a quick drink on the way home last evening. It was great to see that since we last visited the place had been made over having changed hands. Everything looked fresh and well presented. The staff were friendly and as it was quiet there was no waiting at the bar. The restaurant seat
Wonderful experience the place seems to have new management by the looks of it.
The family had a great time with all the staff being super friendly it seems a completely different venue to a visit we made 6 months ago.
Food was really good it tasted fresh and homemade just what was needed for a co
A great venue on top of Portsdown Hill with views of Portsmouth.
Plenty of free parking behind and to the left.
A decent upstairs room to hire with own bar and balcony.
The food supplied for a function I went to was tasty and appetising so can imagine their meals are as good.
We had a family gathering here of 30+ adults and children. The food order required was placed weeks before our arrival to make sure they had enough for us all. When the time came to bring out the food, all worked well and everyone got what they ordered and it was still hot. The waiting staff and bar
Vusted this venue for something to eat with my partner who has a Citrus allergy. The gentleman serving us was fantastic when it came to taking our order and my partners allergy.
When i asked his name it turned out to be the manger. Kieran wes amazing so inventive and looked after us the whole time
Nice lobster and prawn cocktail & calamari and prawn starter. Followed by cod and chips & horseshoe gammon. Tender fish cooked perfectly. Nice atmosphere, good decor. Great views. Service was prompt and friendly even when busy.
The Churchillian offers great views of Portsmouth and the surrounding areas and is a must for a cold drink on a clear sunny day. I have eaten here several times but feel the menu is not as good as it used to be and they are often out of items. Whilst not offering a huge range of beers the ones on of
The friendly staff make this pub. They helped carry drinks to our table, were well informed on the menu and helped us move to a table inside when it started to rain.
Decent pub food that you wouldn't cause me to complain or rave about. There were many menu items unavailable at the time.
