I visited later on a Sunday night and was welcomed warmly, but it was obvious that the staff were getting ready for closing. I phoned ahead and knew I would only have an hour in the bar. Reasonable selection of kegged craft. However, they were all IPAs or pales, so I chose a couple of cans of dark. One local and one from York. Both were great.
If I was in the city longer I would definitely visit again.

The staff were brilliant and the beers on offer were exceptional. Didn't realise till about our 3rd or 4th round that you can actually get 10% of craft beer if you're checking in on Untappd 🥳
Also couldn't say No to the offer they had on takeaway cans, 6 for £30
Shall definitely be back when next visiting Portsmouth
Beautiful English pub with all the best beers on draught. They have their own pizza oven, which I took advantage of for my ham and mushroom pizza - it was fantastic! My kids had burgers, which they devoured (good recommendation) and my husband had a great fish & chips. Service was most friendly and there was lots of seating.
Nice place. Good selection of beer and the pizzas were very nice. A tad on the pricey side for Albert Road but a great place to sit with a beer and some friends to watch the world go by
Booked the function room for our engagement party- Absolutely amazing space had the private bar, function room and the roof terrace! Gorgeous area that we were allowed to decorate and the food was amazing, had constant compliments throughout the night from our guests. Staff were amazing at the bar and those roaming around, special thanks to Luke for helping us arrange it all and thanks to the bar staff, waiters and kitchen staff for providing us an amazing night. We booked the upstairs bar last night and we all had the best night. The staff were so friendly and looked after us so well. Ed and Gabriel were awesome and helped us a lot with getting our Wedding videos on their tv. Everyone had a great night and would highly recommend it. Thanks again guys!!
Great and huge selection of beers that the staff seem to know like the back of their hand. Felt like a proper pub rather than a chain pub knock off. Actual character and service make this a great place to visit.

One note - Google Maps describes this as a pub with a games room. It doesn't have a games room, and hasn't had one for years apparently. You should still visit, but worth noting.
This place is absolutely great. Excellent selection of craft beer and the staff are fantastic. Big shout out to Amber who looked after us wonderfully. We will definitely be back!
Visited with a friend for a few drinks and had a great time. Staff are always friendly and they made sure me and my friend were ok when a couple of guys had had a few too many and started pestering us. Security were pretty on it too!
I sat and had a pint with a mate, the service was good and the seats comfy. Not the cheapest price for a beer. Completely dead on a midweek lunchtime, not unlike a undertakers waiting room. 😆
A really nice old pub feel, with panelling and the critical books required for vintage atmosphere.
Had some Kofta on special which were a cannily priced premium bar snack; the Kofta were well spiced and with a whipped yoghurt raita. Absolutely divine and hit the spot precisely.
Good beers on; dark star and siren alongside some craft offerings which the bartender was able to talk us through.
Just top notch.
Amber gave me a doughnut and it’s all I could have wanted on my birthday. Amazing drinks and what was meant to be a half hour visit became a way too many hour long one. Shoutout to Amber and Ellen theyre both fantastic!
Central location, mixed demographic and cake here for a Guinness on paddys day. NEU hold their events here and it’s a lovely location. Food is tasty but pony drinks can be expensive. Classy bar and nice clientele
