A charming greasy spoon, this place offers everything you expect but with a little more ziiing. The name, I assume, reflects the delightful wooden vaulting along the walls inside- an inherently English charming feature, and one which complements the sky blue ceiling well. Links to the name go no further however, as the cafe is in reality a fusion of Thai and British breakfast cuisine. Firstly, the breakfast I ordered was on tip top form and up to expectations. Everything was cooked perfectly but with the slight exception of the fried eggs. They had been lightly cooked on the top side as well as on the bottom- not my usual preference, but only a small misdemeanour. I was also presently surprised by the 5 star hygiene rating by the food standards agency- another dissimilarity with the typical greasy spoon genre. A true hallmark of a fine establishment and credit to the owners. If you like to be a little adventurous with you fry ups and are partial to a bit of green curry, cottage cafe could be the place for you. Still, traditionalists need not worry, your Richmond sausages will taste just the same here as at any quality fry up.

The Cottage Cafe has just started opening later until 8.30pm(Thursday,Friday and Saturday),serving freshly cooked Thai food. Just tried it this evening and can't fault either the food or the friendly service and staff. Will definitely be returning again soon.
