This was an exciting pub for having a drink, with a smoothly laid out and flashy counter! The design including books on shelves is pretty, seating is comfortable and I had a refreshing pint of Corona Extra.
An impressive historical building.
There's plenty of interesting facts about the locality and important people on the walls.
I had the spicy chicken with a strong Leffe for a little over a tenner.
Good atmosphere in this Wetherspoons, especially compared to the other two 'Spoons not too far away.
A very nice pub in the centre, looks great inside. Lovely staff, loads to choose from menu wise. Very good prices, family of 4 dinner/drinks £35.
Toilets are upstairs. There’s loads of steps to get inside & many to get to the upstairs toilet.
Family friendly but you will have to carry the buggy upstairs.
They have a lift for a wheelchair.
Definitely recommend it
We came back the following morning - for breakfast 🍳 from 8am.
Tasty food, good prices, you get fry up, 3 different sizes, plus you can buy bottomless coffee or tea. Family of 4 £25.
Busy high street pub, lots of tables for dining. Visited on a Wednesday evening for dinner with my son. Sometimes the food is hit & miss generally in some Wetherspoon pubs but tonight it was excellent in this one. Lots of staff about and overall a great choice for dinner.
Excellent restaurant, very quick service although it's always busy.
Plenty of space and a super menu and of course, very reasonable prices. Overall one of the best places to grab breakfast or lunch in Portsmouth. (Very close to Portsmouth and Southsea station)
Staff are very kind and attentive. They are happy to make small changes to orders if need be. Lots of room and space areas. Sadly it suffers from the curse of all weatherspoons and had the toilets upstairs. Good for a cheap meal deal. It does get busy though and is on the main street pub area a avoid at night
Always ordered mixed grilled dish, and enjoyed it every time, the staffs are friendly and helpful.
Stopped in on a long walk had a couple of drinks and a shared meal with the wife staff were helpful and the was good.
Had lunch with my sister, food lovely and service great.
This is a JD Wetherspoon’s restaurant and very popular in town. A lot of the university students and local families come here. So, be aware that it can get well over 88 decibels when busy.
The food is quality and what you would expect from Wetherspoon’s. Other than it being rather loud and baudy at times, it’s a good location. I’m not giving it a 5 star because they don’t even try to control the rowdy patrons at all.
A very big and spacious Wetherspoon pub. Good service.
I had the basically plain burger so just cheese gherkin onions and sauce it was pretty decent although the gherkins were a little odd. Chicken bites as usual were delicious and happy you can get them with your choice of sauce so had the blue cheese my personal favourite.
