Stopped in for lunch, had a sharing platter for 2, could have fed 4 of us. Piri salt on the fries were zingy and the best I've tasted. The chicken and piri sauce was fantastic. We rolled out of the place. Staff were so friendly that we both agreed that it's our new favourite place to earth in town.
Me and my wife stopped here for lunch. What an amazing food, the chicken tasted so juicy with lots of flavours. Will say best chicken I've had so far in Portsmouth, amazing flavour,
Portion size was immense and well worth the money. Staff were very friendly and welcoming and will recommend everyone to go and visit this place when you visit the town centre, who needs Nandos when you have Kangos.
Just brilliant, had lunch here today with my family and the food, service and overall welcoming reception was impressive. The staff really made an effort, providing free chocolate mouses for the family and not just the kids. Highly recommend.... probably the best place to eat in commercial road without a shadow of a doubt.

Visited Kango's on Friday evening with the family. Very impressed by the decor, which has a real 1950's retro diner feel about it. The staff were very friendly and attentive, and were always on hand if we needed anything.
Our order was prepared quickly and the food was absolutely delicious. Between us, we sampled a number of the gourmet burger options, along with some classic piri piri chicken.
The New Yorker and BBQ burgers were lush, packed full of flavour and real juicy beef patties. The chicken was nicely flamed grilled, whilst also being succulent. We also had a platter of piri piri wings and while they had a nice kick to them, you could still really taste the mix of spices in the marinade.
The sides were well portioned and the sweet potato fries have to be among the best I've ever had.
They also have a range of gelato, which they make fresh themselves. We ordered a few scoops, and everything we sampled is easily as good as the stuff you'd normally see at a dedicated ice cream parlour.
So, overall we were extremely impressed. The presentation, service and product get a 5* rating from us, and we'll definitely be back again soon.

The restaurant wasn't very busy The staff were friendly and obliging.
Very large portions of fries were a little bland being under seasoned but otherwise nice.
My burger patti was very nice thou complete burger was for my tastes hardwork due to too much fresh tomato and way too much mustard sauce making it too messy to eat and poor quality napkins don't help with the clean up.
I dont usually give 5 stars but this place deserved it in my opinion.
Staff was friendly, food was tasty and although the seats are a bit uncomfortable the atmosphere was quite nice.
Water is free here and food costs less compared to other similar places.

Came here for lunch and food was good. The chicken was spot on, wrap and burger. I got the 'original' size assuming it was a large portion but actually it was a massive portion as you can see in the chips and the wrap. That chip portion can be shared between 3-4 adults, worth it for the price.
Great place run by a great owner who treats you like family. Generous amounts of delicious food. Definitely worth a try.

Good food, very tasty chicken burger with quick service.
Limited drinks and table sauces during our visit. The spicy rice was old and reheated. No soap in the toilets for hand washing. Requires minor improvements for 5 stars.

Really lovely people and good food! They initially forgot to put my burger on to cook while I had some fries, and when I let them know they couldn't be more apologetic; insisting on giving me some more fries and another drink while I waited, even when I tried to insist it was ok and I was happy to pay for them. Burger was great too!
I had lunch here today. The grilled chicken wrap with hot piri sauce and 3 wings also in the hot piri sauce. Both tasted fantastic and portions were good size. The wrap was huge and the wings were not the tiny ones you sometimes get. Staff were very helpful and friendly. They even threw in a portion of fries which was very nice so I couldn't finish all of it. Left full up and very satisfied. I will be back for more. 👍👍
