Steki Taverna is a charming family run Greek taverna that has been established in Southsea in Portsmouth since 1998. The decor is inviting and similar to the tavernas you see in Greece – terracotta tiled floor, wooden tables and beams. They opened a second branch in Brighton in 2006.
Over the years, we must have sampled most items on the menu: as with most restaurants, some dishes are better than others and we are always drawn back to our favourites. Fantastic food, super clean restaurant, friendly staff that were so attentive. Added balloons to the table for my daughters birthday without asking and presented her with a delicious dessert, candles and a rendition of Happy Birthday all without me asking.
I returned the next day to celebrate with my friend for her birthday and the same happened. Superb food and everyone loved it.

My family and I celebrated my wife's birthday party and it was our 1st time at the restaurant. It looked amazing inside and felt like you were in Greece, greek music in the background and just the overall look and feel great.
Food was fantastic from starters to mains, we all loved the food. It was fresh, tasty and just perfect, the restaurant catered to all our needs and even surprised us with balloons on the table. Thank you to everyone at the restaurant.

Visited on Saturday evening and we enjoyed every minute spending the night there .. Owner greet us upon entering Greek music lovely atmosphere.. Definitely recommend it..
Oh and the food every taste of it reminds me of Greece.. We had mezze option in the menu and it was delicious.. Greek salad with fetta cheese, pitta, grilled halumi, hummus, tzatziki absolutely lovely.. Two glazed sausages, chicken souvlaki, chips .. We we very satisfied.. Highly recommended!!!
A friendly and helpful staff member served us. Bright and airy restaurant with Greek music playing. Clean and comfortable.
Food took quite a while to be served but that's because it's all cooked fresh to order. Amazingly they serve real, freshly cut and fried chips, which were very nice.
Quite expensive in general (assume £19 for a main course) but the 'traditional Greek wrap' (gyros) are good value at £7.90 and large enough to fill you up on their own. You can find details of these on the website menu but not on the paper menu.
I visited with a friend a couple of weeks ago and we really enjoyed our meal. The ambiance of the restaurant was lovely with Greek music playing in the background and candles - you could almost imagine that you were in Greece! Excellent service and thank you for the cranberry & ouzo shots :-)

Excellent food and service although they lost a star on account of their poor card terminal reception. Took four tries to complete each card transaction for two separate cards. Very embarrassing and I was given a look of disdain by the young server. A kick in the teeth as we'd also included a tip. Both cards were more than good for the money.
Please improve your card terminal reception and hopefully next time you can redeem the star⭐. It's such a shame making diners feel embarrassed unnecessarily when they are trying to pay.
Went here for dinner with friends. The food and service were both brilliant. I highly recommend the platters, they are brilliant value for money and include a good range of dishes.

On of the best place in UK if u like Greek food. Even for us who we are Greeks the taste still better than many Greek locate restaurants! Just try if u are near in Portsmouth then come here and post your experience!
Absolutely amazing food. Great staff and very attentive. I’m such a fussy eater but this is the only Greek food I will eat in Portsmouth. Really reminds me of being in Greece. Thank you so much :)
Firstly, the service was brilliant.
I was eating out alone, and was made to feel very welcome.
The food was fantastic- I really recommend the grilled halloumi and the aubergine dip.
Lastly, it was very clean and tidy; which is always a great bonus when you go somewhere to eat.
The food here was excellent, we each ordered the Meze so we could try a few different dishes as we had never really eaten Greek food before except for gyros, there was more than enough food for the 3 of us, everything was fresh and tasted amazing! The service here was great as well, the staff were lovely and very helpful, can't wait to go back again when we visit Southsea next
This Greek restaurant is on another level, the food was absolute wonderful the prices and the quality was brilliant fresh and tasty. The service was friendly and very kind, overall as a Greek restaurant its the best I've ever tried in the UK, I will definitely come back !!
We went for my wife’s birthday , four of us , the table had flowers for her , the staff were so friendly, the Cypriot Meze was fantastic with so much variety of food.
To top it all it was great value!
Really good Greek food, fair prices, nice environment. If you like Greek food this place is worth it.
Update: December 2021. Still a great restaurant and have upgraded to 5 stars off the back of a recent couple of meals which have been so tasty.
We have eaten here a few times, but the most recent was in the newly renovated restaurant. It has a much better, brighter and welcoming style than before. Looks more professional.
The food was very good this time around. We all cleared our plates. Would recommend stopping here for a meal. Be sure to book at weekends as it does get busy.
Wow! What amazing food and service. The chefs here really know how to properly cook seafood dishes, the scallops we had were truly melt in the mouth 😋 Everything came out cook to perfection. Also try the Alfa Greek beer, it’s a light blonde lager imported direct from Greece 🍻
