Beautiful decor with very helpful and friendly staff!
Serving and waiting staff are welcoming, talkative and try to answer any questions you have about menu items or furnishings.
I really liked the description of their wall painting being inspired by a place in Colombia and that it took 3 weeks to paint.
Lovely recommendation about their beer selection, Quilmes is an Argentinian lager that's light, crisp and a bit spicy. I had Empanadas as my starter (which means "to wrap" I was lucky to ask about this dish and enjoy the two selections, served with salad) this lager complimented the flavours very well and the pastry was as fluffy as filo. If you feel adventurous this was worth trying :)
Their portions are generous, in advance I'd recommend asking about the dish/plate size.
Their draught beer is Peroni and comes in half pint or pint. Their selection of sides arrives in very nice medium sized bowls. Onion rings are tasty and their "thin fries" aren't like french fries but are just as tasty accompanied with Chimichurri sauce!
Our group had a selection of meat dishes(ribeye, fillet steaks and rack of lamb) and was cooked to perfection. I tried a bit of the lamb a family member had offered and it was tender, succulent and well seasoned.
Overall, great decor with comfortable soft leather seating and music volume was balanced well that added to ambience. Amazing tentative staff.

"Chimichurri" was explained as a combination of garlic, parsley, olive oil and chilli.

Had a steak sharing platter, which was a massive portion for the two of us. The selection of cuts were each cooked the way we specified, and they were delicious(try the chimichurri sauce with them, it's divine)! After such a meal it's usually satisfying to just sit around a bit and chat, so we had a couple of drinks as part of the 2 for 1 cocktail deal, which were beautifully presented and delicious. The staff was lovely, the service was quick, and the food and drinks were all to our liking! So whether you're looking for a nice dinner or just to grab a few coctails I recommend visiting El Toro.
Had the pleasure to visit El Toro Southsea both at breakfast and dinner, and was not disappointed. The menu is a dream, especially if you are a meat lover. Fell in love with Seasonal pancakes, perfect breakfast treat with a large late! Staff is helpful and friendly, more than willing to have a little chat. The atmosphere is warm, cosy and not too loud. Would most certainly recommend.

A newish place not long opened. My wife had the best fillet steak ever on New Years night. Never had lamb chops and mash before in a restaurant but on this occasion I decided to try something different and so pleased I did as it was fantastic. We were in a party of four and we all were amazed at the quality of the food. Staff very helpful. This place will soon be packing them in.
Glad we dropped in here this evening. Started with a really good cocktail and had a fab meal. I would recommend a visit.
Just eaten at El Toro for the first time. The 5 of us enjoyed all our starters and mains, the food was excellent and the service was too. Would recommend and would go again ��
Absolutely one of the best places in Portsmouth, the food is fantastic, the staff are lovely and a great location.
Stopped here for brunch. It was one of the only places in the area, still serving brunch/ breakfast after 12. Chose the Eggs Florentine with salmon which was absolutely delish. Even got to try some of the cocktails. What a great find!
Went on new years day evening being one of the few places still open that day. Food cooked to perfection, excellent presentation. Brother had a steak and said was one of the best steaks he's had and my dad said the same about his burger. Amazing food, friendly staff and a very welcoming atmosphere. Will definitely be back.
Every time we eat here it just gets better. Will try and go through the whole menu, it’s all lovely. Plus the staff are great �

We had a fabulous time here last night can't praise them enough the minute we entered we were welcomed the staff are really friendly and attentive and the restraunt is lovely a very clean relaxing and comfortable on that note i usually find sitting in a restraunt i get quite uncomfortable because of the chairs not so here i could have quite happilly sat for a lot longernow the food excelent dose not even come close i thoroughly enjoyed every course the halumi salad starter was beautiful then the steak just perfectly cooked and the bakewell tart cheesecake was to die for a wonderful evening all together we will most definitely be going back here thank you El Toro

Me and my partner had a lovely meal, opted for the mixed grill and it did not disappoint. All the meat was succulent and delicious. Will be returning. £55.00 for two meals and two drinks. Can’t go wrong
You walk into this place and just the atmosphere is gorgeous. Incredible vibe. Attentitave waiters. No matter if it's their table or not, if they see empty plates, they come over to remove them. Vast food selection and so tasty. I had paella for the first time ever and I love it! Meat is also tasty. Prices are reasonable. Found another favorite place! Wish they would do take out/delivery though. I am often alone and don't like sitting in restaurants by myself lol.
A brilliant meal, one of the best steak houses I've been in, all three of us enjoyed our meals, two steak, one fish. And the dessert, sticky toffee pudding and ice cream, was large and very tasty. Would recommend booking if in Portsmouth. And would definitely return.
It was a good meal and the meat was beautifully cooked we had a mixed grill meal and a steak with lamb chop meal and the meat just seemed to be missing a little chargrilled flavour which is unusual for this place. Chicken was a bit dry but the chips and peppercorn sauce were great. The staff were super friendly and great with my 18 month old. A decent turn around for us of about an hour, granted our starter was nachos and didn't need long to prepare.

Insanely good food, the ribs were fall-off-the-bone, melt in your mouth levels of perfection and the steak cut chips were delightfully fluffy with a nice crispy outer layer. Friendly and professional staff with reasonable prices too!

Eating El Toro was a wonderful experience. The restaurant was very warm and welcoming, the staff were very friendly and polite and they looked after you especially when you have a dietary requirement. The food was just amazing. Everything is made to order, which is just amazing.
